Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc Anime is not a Ultimate Muscle reboot.

I recommend giving this new anime a shot. Admittedly, Ultimate Muscle was very loose with its 4Kids translation & changed a lot of content in its dialogue so it doesn't showcase its serious or violent side. New people watching this anime will be surprised how different it is in tone when compared to Ultimate Muscle. There is a lot of lore that might be briefly explained but I also don't expect people to read 36 vols or watch over 130 eps to be fully caught up to this new one. That didn't stop people from watching Baki 2018 (also a sequel) and DBZ.

THEAnimeHERO actually for 4kids was very faithful with the translation and script and if it was Because of them the last ark wouldn't exist

It would've encouraged the English fandom to get on board by starting from Kevin Mask Vs Mantaro till the end of the tag. Perfect way to slowly transition the Eng audience to watch the familiar Ultimate Muscle cast and learn about the original Justice Choujin. Then continuing the anime with the Perfect Origin arc till present day material.

The original anime has been released via SD bluray but they're only available in Japan so far. The 1983 anime and Scramble can be seen via fansubs but the can only be seen via websites since the anime hasn't been officially licensed by anyone for streaming.

Perfect Origin Arc isn't a reboot. Only the 1st episode is a reboot recap.

The whole thing aired on tv but I don't think it ever re-aired since it's original broadcast. It only released 2 vols on VHS & DVD which doesn't help its circulation. The series barely got released on SD Blu-ray in 2023. Although it's only the English version.

It's a prequel in the sense that Kid Muscle is not even born yet.

From what I've been told by the author's Twitter, Kinnikuman Nisei did very well as a manga but viewership was very poor in the anime version. It was a case where Nisei did better in other countries but that's also because we weren't exposed to the original Kinnikuman cast. So as kids we had no expectations of the sequel Muscle League characters living up to their predecessors. So getting new Ultimate Muscle or Kinnikuman Nisei material is off the table for the moment. Recent Kinnikuman chapters have hinted at another attempt at time travel.

Shonen Jump app doesn't have everything. A good chunk of Shonen Jump series that had sequels were changed to seinen & went to different magazines. Series like Sakigake!! Otokojuku & Silver Fang were from Shonen Jump but they're not on the app. Instead they can be found on a different service being Manga Planet. In the case of Kinnikuman, it went from Jump to Weekly Playboy then Shu Play News. Shu Play News offers free chapters for a limited time as they're released weekly, but they're in Japanese. All of the English Kinnikuman manga is only available through fan translations via "websites". The only official thing was the Viz Media release of the Ultimate Muscle manga but that was back in 2004-2011 & they never been reprinted. The fan translations for the ongoing Kinnikuman manga started in the mid 2010's & has surprisingly been consistent all these years later. With the release of the new anime, I'm hoping this leads to a push of official material. Devilman Crybaby managed to bring the original Devilman manga.

I would like the original to be officially available but that's still a big task of watching more than 130 eps. Also, the anime & manga have a lot differences.

From what little I could see from the 2024 anime, it seems that the visuals will have creative liberties as they're not exactly the same as the manga panels. It doesn't bother me too much since the animation looks really detailed and I'm surprised how close the character designs look like Yoshinori Nakai's art style. As for the current arc, I'm very curious to see where things will be going with Robin Mask, Buffaloman and The One. I'm also in awe and admiration in Yudetamage has elevated the series with all of the Choushin lore. It's very rewarding for those who read the series from the beginning. I'm also intrigued with the Time Choujin and how that connects with Ultimate Muscle's Chaos and potentially the rest of the New Generation. Kinnikuman remains as my 2nd favorite anime & manga.

@THEAnimeHERO Agreed,I too share the belief the anime is going to have its own liberties that will help it for the better. And yes,I do agree the current arc(s) are going to be about all the narrative and emotional pay offs for sticking with thr story from the beginning,I can't believe how they managed to extend the lore and world building in the way they did,props to Yude.

I really felt it was a missed opportunity to get the English fans onboard by doing the rest of Nisei first then moving onto Kinnikuman 2011.

I'm very impressed by the animation.

Part of what makes that arc work is how unsettling it is. Closest thing to a "Berserk eclipse moment" in Kinnikuman.

That's surprising. For most people it's usually the other way around, myself included due to the FoxBox. Although there's even older folks now in their 40's who knew about Kinnikuman through the Mattel MUSCLE kinkeshi toyline.

@@THEAnimeHERO im from Asia and didnt have fox so it was later that I knew about it What got me into Kinnikuman was jump ultimate stars DS and right there then I got to watching the anime, read the manga because there were many differences between the manga and anime then to the Nisei series ADD: oh and before the Jump Ultimate Stars I did watch the Kinnikuman series in an imported pirated DVD from my cousins and only decided to get deep on it with after Jump Ultimate stars

Kinnikuman 2011 is very much the original Dragon Ball Super as events in between the two series (Kinnikuman 2011 and Ultimate Muscle) don't perfectly match. Kinnikuman 2011 is basically the "End Of Z" equivalent to DBZ and DB Super. There's been speculation by fans that UM stopped being canon due to these new lore and major events added to the 2011 story. However, certain key things from UM have been showing up in 2011 via recent chapters. So there's still hope that UM remains relevant in some way. There's possibilities that UM could be rewritten with a new continuity that better fits in with the current 2011 material. The manga is ongoing against The God Of Time and his Time Choujin so changes could happen.

I think the untouched UM story arcs would be too much for 4Kids but nowadays it would be acceptable by other producers/licensors.

I need Kongo Bancho to go with that, plus Fist Of The North Star.

I was hoping that this new relaunch of Kinnikuman anime would've started with the Kinnikuman Nisei Choujin Tag. That way we would've gotten the English audience that were familiar with Ultimate Muscle & segue into the Kinnikuman 2011 series.

I think you're referring to Toshio Furukawa who's Piccolo. He did voice Kinnikuman in Kinnikuman Nisei but that was it. Akira Kamiya has never played Piccolo.

Chapter 47 shows that Jade showed up in Brocken Jr's home asking to be trained. Jade said he was an orphan. In chapter 48, Jade reveals as an orphan he was picked up by an elderly couple. The couple gets murdered by a group of thugs. Jade was unable to save them in time. Since then, Jade sought out Brocken Jr so he could save lives and prevent tragedies. This showed up in the anime in episode 24. The anime added a fire sequence while the beatings were shown but reduced. The couple still died. In the 4Kids dub, the fire is kept in, the visual beatings are removed but kept the dialogue mentioning the thugs caused a fire. However, the elderly couple "are going to be in the hospital for a few days." The dub also changed the elderly couple to be Jade/Jeager's aunt and uncle.

Yes. Mattel's MUSCLE were Kinkeshi which were based on the manga & anime of Kinnikuman. The 2024 series is streaming weekly on Netflix.

If you're going by the jokey & punny banter of Ultimate Muscle's English dub then no. That's the result of 4Kids doing whatever they wanted. In terms of absurd character designs & over the top action then yes. The actual Kinnikuman has a lot more depth, character growth, & violence than what was shown in the 4Kids portrayal of Ultimate Muscle. It's still a good anime worth checking out that will stream weekly on Netflix.

The thing is Kinnikuman & Kinnikuman Nisei (Ultimate Muscle) both weren't exactly kid friendly to begin with. The original Kinnikuman was a comedy in its early chapters which mainly revolved around being an Ultraman parody complete with kaijus & Kinnikuman becoming a giant who can fly. However, the tone was centered around his incompetence, how others bullied him or toilet humor. Eventually, Kinnikuman starts proving his worth from a rags to riches story & that's when the series started to get violent wrestling. Yet, the series was popular with kids as the anime aired in Japan with most of its violence intact. So by the time Kinnikuman Nisei came out in 1997, the original audience has grown up so the manga grew up, too. Kinnikuman Nisei was published in the Weekly Playboy so the manga would occasionally be naughtier & gorier than the original. Once Nisei got an anime in 2002, the mature content was toned down or removed in preparation for domestic release. Even so, once 4Kids got their hands on the show & rebranded it as Ultimate Muscle there wasn't much violence to edit since the source toned it down already. However, since it's an anime there's still stuff in it that I have no idea how it got past the English censors. If you go back & watch Ultimate Muscle's dub, which is available on Blu-ray, there are some racy & adult jokes that you wouldn't expect from 4Kids. The dub also added way more explicit dialogue that would be considered offensive by today's standards. It also doesn't help that 4Kids chose to give stereotypical accents to the majority of the cast. The English Ultimate Muscle dub is just not a good representation of what Kinnikuman Nisei is as its heavy with jokes & dialogue changes.

I prefer "Hustle Muscle".

Yes. It's been streaming on Netflix for 7 weeks now. New episodes come out on Mondays for Region 1. Sundays for other regions.

Yes. Whenever stuff from Perfect Origin Arc got posted on Twitter people would say things like "I remember Ultimate Muscle" & assume these were the same characters. Honestly, I think a lot of people were going by the vaguest of memories but were unable to recall any actual detail of the show. Such it being about a younger group of heroes or the constant flashbacks to the original series. It also doesn't help that the main roster had similar designs. Unless they were to see them side by side they wouldn't realize those were in fact different characters.

They also stream Bastard!!, although I'm expecting Fist Of The North Star to stream there if that new anime can make some progress.

They wouldn't do that. The 4Kids theme is specifically tailored to that version. It's the same reason why the new Shaman King & One Piece don't use the 4Kids opening theme.

That's because despite coming out in 2003, no one has really attempted a fansub for it until now. So far the 2 Ultimate Muscle aka Kinnikuman Nisei movies are fansubbed along with the 1st episode. I've been hoping for Discotek Media to grab the Japanese series since they got the English version last year.

Kinnikuman has been around for a very long time & is still active today.
