While it does suck, it would probably cause a shitload of lag, which would suck even more honestly. HAL definitely excluded it for a reason. That, or Nintendo forced them to axe it to emphasize online play
Honestly Nintendo needs fix their damn online I ain't paying up for a crappy online subscription if they never fix it well screw it I will probably never have an online experience.
my gripe with the game is the lack of single console multiplayer options, only 2 players on same switch and it's restricted to CPUs, not everyone has 4 switches with 4 copies of the game lying around, sometimes we just wanna sit around the same tv and play a 4 player party game like normal
I think it's how the connection stuff works based on proximity a lot. I've not had particularly many issues (even on Mario Maker 2 which uses this similar waiting for the person behind on connection) as someone in the UK, which is a lot smaller than say, America.
I know its multiplayer focused but my main issue is that I wish it had a story mode cause the gameplay is really fun. I've been playing it solo & sometimes online and it's just fun. If it had a story mode where kirby fights some food based bosses & master hand had the dream fork as the final boss I'd love the heck outta it even if it was a small story. It would be way more replayable as well as what's already there.
@@sethfeldpausch4337 it's already in the game too. In battle royale mode you see him using the fork to remove platforms, inclines, and such. Hes just ensuing chaos in that one mode the whole time throwing strawberries from a basket & using prongs to get the guy in first. Though a full blown boss battle in a short story mode were he could do more with the fork would be cool.
Had only one freeze instance, right before a race started, and only a few hiccups here and there, but nothing this bad where it was frame by frame during the race. So I am unsure how to call this
This “waiting for the slowest player” system does honestly work well and avoid desync moments when everyone has good connections, but one single bad one is going to bring it down badly. Depending on the size of your region (like if you were playing in the UK vs playing in America), proximity possibly also matters for connection.
I agree! Nintendo makes phenomenal games, and they act like they want to get with the times by adding online to everything, yet they STILL haven’t properly updated their infrastructure to allow for stable online experiences. They either need to fully commit to online centered games, or go back to making single player experiences.
It isn't there infrastructure that is the issue. It is the code they use for how the game is syncing the players together. Japanese companies/developers have been very slow in this regard as when they test it in Japan due to the small area and high population, it works really well and they don't seem to consider the rest of the world where populations are more spread out over much larger distances. Look at how long it took Japanese fighting games to implement GGPO or the own version of it competently. It was over a decade, and even still some of there games use the older inferior version or a poorly implemented version of ggpo (Street Fighter 5 for example) which means decade old indie fighting games like Skull Girls and meme Fighting games have had better online then the biggest Japanese developed fighters. Basically there seems to be an insistence among Japanese devs for it to be done there way, and even when other proven ways exist and have for a long time they are very slow to incorporate it themselves, or they have to try there own twist on it which has thus far always resulted in worse outcomes. This is the trap Nintendo seems to have fallen into and why the online is so poor.
They expect you to pay a modern price for an online service that's not even up to 2005 standards It sucks HAL Labs has to be affected by Nintendo's incompetence to have a stable player base for online multiplayer
Personally I don’t get the whole ordeal about this. Modern online games had crappy freemium most of the time case in point Fifa games and cod games. I kinda wished that we allowed to reflect first and allow the game to settle a week and allowing Hal/Nintendo to improve the game. I’m kind of burnt out on the critic side of things when it comes to anything Nintendo related.
@@ShoutHouse I came to here because I’m a bit frustrated with the criticism of this game. The fact that a small problem of online is overblown when I had it working on my side is telling of ChiGuys bias in the video. His video isn’t horrendous by all means, but I do think he should’ve reflected first before putting it out there.
@@mrconroy4672 if his experience with the game was it lagging every match then there's nothing to reflect on, he said the game itself was good but the connection killed his experience.
As someone who's put up with Mario Maker 2's unholy nightmare of a versus mode for three years, I can safely say that that I've adapted to lag enough to not mind it too much in this game by comparison, but it really shouldnt've come to this point. I really hope Nintendo fixes their internet issue once and for all some day.
I feel like the game itself has input latency as well. Rolling around can take time to accelerate and the jumping definitely is off by nearly half a second both offline and online. Other than that, super fun game regardless. I’ve only encountered a few online matches that were terrible and I have played for several hours already!
Personally in my 5 hours of playing this game so far I've experienced little to no lag and input delay, and my internet sucks. When I played fall guys on the switch I experienced a crash for a quarter of the games, which sucks because of how long it takes to get into a game and play the game.
When I went to download it I was pleasantly surprised to pay only 15 dollars bc I was ready to shell out 60. My online experiences have been hit and miss. When it lags I can't even control my Kirby. It's over for me. I wish there was a racing mode only. I do well in the races but I lose everything in those battles. Super cute game. Love all the textures. I'm gonna eat so much cake
ive been saying that 20 dollars is not worth it considering how the bad the online is from the getgo and back in 2018 people were saying oh its the price of a pizza its not that bad and look where we are now
Hey do you know whether or not Kirby's Dream Buffet suffers the same problem as Kirby Fighters 2 with being region locked? What I mean is, can you only have random matches with people online from your own country rather than all around the world excluding friend match ups. The only online multiplayer Kirby game that I know of that isn't region locked is Super Kirby Clash and furthermore, that game is FREE and I have played with a lot of Japanese players.
Honestly I think the online has grown on me. Like its still a annoyance but a VERY small one, also its this or my laptop that really should be wiped that takes 15 minutes to load
I feel that the reason why they're doing this is that ever since the pandemic started players and viewers spent most of their time playing online, so Nintendo pretty much try to piggyback that momentum to make money. I recently heard that players are now leaving their homes meaning that they are leaving the online services. So hopefully, they will finally wake up and see the reception over their lack of content.
i honestly want to buy this game but i did not see a mention of nintendo switch online trying to ask if the game uses nintendo switch online because i dont know if it has it or not
But Chi-Guy it's only $15 You should be thankful that you can give Nintendo so little money for a 1st party game that you will do again and gladly pay for it Isn't Nintendo the bestest parent? Love them or else you won't get quality games in the future
the input lag REALLY fricks me up. those sections of races where you take a super tricky and slim path for a shortcut are near impossible with the internet lag it's messed me up a lot and its stupidly annoying
The fact that this game is only fifteen dollars and has wifi run on sticks of broccoli makes me think they're treating it sort of like a cash grab, which SUCKS, especially for a mainline nintendo game with one of nintendo's biggest franchises.
Mmh... I get what you're saying about the online (the game itself is awesome!). Me personally, I have great online experience with all Nintendo games. Yes I do get some lag and disconnects sometimes, but I have little complaints. Keep in mind, I have optic fibre internet in Switzerland, so the quality is very high. But I agree, for the bigger picture, Nintendo should really invest more in improving the online.
Here in the states Internet ranges person to person state to state but it usually comes down Nintendo servers as other companies work around that I used to play 8 player Gears of War horde mode on Xbox 360 but then I play a quick round of Smash and hope it lags enough to be playable
@@JustJulyo Yeah, I see. Well anyway, I'm sure that Nintendo catches up in a not-so-distant future. Because when they finally do things right, they usually nail it. Wait and see.
I actually really want to play this game, but even though I'm not much of an online player, they do really need to fix that problem. Except for the first couple of Kirby Switch games, Kirby has not disappointed me on Switch so far.
Well ig I’m just part of the lucky group, I played wit my friends online in PA and had zero issues aside from the Chocolate cake stage always having frame rate issues (and it doesn’t have any offline for whatever reason) I have had a laggy game or two, but not nearly enough to regret my purchase and I’ve put in a good amount of hours. For $15 I wasn’t expecting anything crazy either, it’s a good time tho. Is this an excuse for Nintendo to keep having poor online? Nah. But honestly, this game for $15 has better online than other titles and HAL isn’t even doin a lot of online titles or anything, they just make primarily Kirby.
I’ll be honest my guy, the online problems are almost definitely you and not the game. My connectivity has always been great, was only bad when my wifi sucked
Strange, I've seen RU-vidrs talk about how GOOD the online is, then again, I've never run into any lag at ALL on Nintendo games. And no, I don't have god internet, it's decent, but that's it.
okay nintendo you crossed the line! I ended up defending Biomutant and said it was a nostalgic hit to kirby's dreamland cause both characters happen to wield a samurai blade. so why go and do this sure i asked you to have Biomutant taken down but reguardless I purchased 2 copies day 1. then after a day or two biomutant got a huge amount of hate from others posting on youtube. so not only was i appreciative THQNortic had been inspired by your pink light super strong round fellow but others deserved more backlash than myself for ripping and rumoring about biomutants bad narrative and questionable origionality. and nope they never apologized i'm guessing sadly that game now is under-rated. really anyone reading i hope you found this gem (bioumtant) and hear it from me first that squirly hero can float pretty close to how kirby floats. it's just inspired non-the-less!
Yeah, Nintendo's online has always been garbage on many of their own games. They always seem to be behind the curve on a lot of technical fronts. They need to get away from P2P and go with dedicated servers for their popular online games. If you join a game with someone who has a McDonald's WiFi connection, you can guarantee you're in for a lagfest!
Probably because they didn't plan on making the game a live service like Fall Guys, and if they still made it free in that case it would have been the same game but with slow grind based progression, I think for that paying $15 instead is fine.
I have no interest in this game, whatever it is online or content. Kirby isn't the badass character with cute flair we know anymore. I wonder if the anime was the cause of his portrayal. Kirby being the selling point from his cuteness is pointless.
Every Kirby spin off game on the Switch up to this point has had atrocious online so I’m really not surprised. Super Kirby Clash and Kirby Fighters 2 were both unplayable online for me. It really ruins the experience and run time of these games when I’m locked to single player content.
I mean, I get where your coming from but- I pay triple just to use my internet running and i get 5 MBPS. Not even enough to play most online games. In my point of view, the ISPs are the biggest issue here. But Nintendo still does need dedicated servers though.
Why is everyone saying the online is bad, every time the game lags it’s because I’m far from the internet, am I just lucky or do I have great internet or something ?
The majority of the game i play online are smooth and only a few has a bit of lag. The problem comes from the lack of servers, it's peer 2 peer so if one guys has a shitty connexion well gues what? everybody suffers. Fall guys has epic game servers that's why it's smoother. I don't blame nintendo for not having servers for such a small game.
nintendo switch online is terrible always has been never works starts to freeze when frame by frame just stops playstations networks works pretty well wipes switch online out of the blue
I'm surprised too. I was starting to think Nintendo had a policy where any of their main exclusives aren't allowed to go lower than 40$ not counting if its on sale.
It's a great game I had somewhat of problems online but still I had a lot of fun! Also my life is a lie when chiguy said he plays fall guys instead of among us I thought that was funny.
@@JustJulyo I mean I feel like Nintendo never listens to all the fans which is pretty sad especially when Nintendo releases a game or an update of a game like Smash Ultimate the worst Smash game ever made that should not exist to begin with if this the last Smash game! Smash sucks lol!!!
It’s Nintendo. What did you expect? Honestly, at this point, I think you’d be happier with the NSO Expansion Pack. The emulation has been greatly improved and they just released Wave Race 64. Well worth $50 IMO (Just steer clear of the online lol).
The moment I saw this I knew it was just going to be a less inspired fall guys with no incentive to play. Why spend a cent on this game when fallguys already exists and is free?
