The Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShops Will Shut Down on March 27, 2023 

That's an issue i recently had with Nintendo At least with the Wii U they let you use the Wii Channel and transfer your save data from Wii Consoles to Wii U Same with the NDS and 3DS And even though it sometimes deleted your save data (Most commonly on DS Games), it still gave some Warranty over the games you spent on But the Nintendo Switch? Nah you gotta wait until your game gets a remake or a Port

Funny how they hate when folks promote piracy yet when they do crap like this, they wonder why more and more folks go TO piracy when it comes to playing their legacy content. And even WHEN they "try" and sell their legacy content on current consoles like with the Switch and its Online service, it's outright pathetic especially when compared to Virtual Console and AGAIN, folks go back to piracy.

Probably because a lot of the games on the Wii U (some 3DS) are already on Switch, and a fair amount of the remainder of games that aren't on the Switch eShop either would require a massive overhaul, will simply not work, or the devs just don't want to bother with porting. It's not ideal, and I honestly agree there needs to be SOMETHING to preserve these games, but I don't think it's as simple as porting these games to Switch for many of the titles from Wii U and 3DS that still aren't on it.

I just did the same thing with that game. I forgot it had DLC until a few months ago.

Glad I bought it a while ago when the eShop got announced closing

I already went ahead and secured the DLC for all the FE games on the Switch. It's sad to think that there will be future fans who will go back to buy these games only to realize the additional content is forever out of reach.

This is why digital sucks. The only major selling point about it is convenience.

Monolith Soft has stated that porting Xenoblade X to Switch would be too expensive for them to do. Doesn't help they've been focused more on XC3 and their new future title that doesn't sound like XCX.

It was a pain in the ass for me too my first time. But now I can do it in about an afternoon.

Hacking the wii is 100% easy this day and age. Hacking the switch is difficult compared to this.

A lot of games that they had, my first exposure to Nintendo Directs and E3 (when that was still revealant), etc. Failures or not, it was a good time for me and many others. AND SWEET MERCY, StarFox Zero wasn't bad. I can't say the same for the Switch, at least to me. 2017 was exciting, 2018 was... well, Smash Ultimate was great (big freaking shock), 2019 honestly I felt the same way as I did the year before, 2020 well... I can't stand Nintendo anymore for a good number of reasons that I'm sure you can guess and stuff like the eShop closure isn't changing my mind on them.

I hacked mine in March though you only really need the r4 for games that don't work how with twilight menu ++ for ds games but that changes since they update and improve the compat with each update

@link4566 Funny enough, Microsoft has been suppressingly consumer friendly recently, but occasionally incompetent.

I am not a Sony or Microsoft fanboy or even a fan but they have been contantly upping nitendo in acesability and consumer service. Sony started porting bunch of their stufd to pc and in general make their games go on sale relativley fast, Microsoft has Game Pass and their games coming to pc too. It is much better than Nitendo on that fronz

In Nintendo's eyes, it's all about the Switch.

@@timbo303official9 But actually, the method I used to mod my 3DS did not involve the eShop at all (or an R4 card), which means 3DS modding will still be possible after March 2023, it's just you'll have to do it differently

Well, therein lies the issue, is that in some cases, certain content is digital even if the initial purchase was physical. Fire Emblem Fates, as was basically the chief example in the video, is a PERFECT example, because the Revelation is digital only.

Imagine not wanting to have the option to purchase games on your favorite older consoles.

The fact that both the Wii U and N3DS had games that were digital-only is why folks are pissed off at this. It wouldn't be too much of a problem, if these games were released on other platforms officially, but that's not the case here and I ain't just talking about Virtual Console either. There's some folks, out there that still enjoy playing both systems, myself included.
