The Cinema Snob finds out that the way to save Christmas is to make a movie that ends up on the imdb bottom 100. www.thecinemasnob.com / thecinemasnob / thecinemasnob
Talking vegetables were the only way I understood the bible as a kid. I'm an outed atheist now, but I still think "Veggie Tales" is a good family show-clean, funny, and creative.
At least Veggietales just gave good morals and likened them to the Bible, while singing ultra-catchy songs (Seriously, that goddamn Hairbrush song) This is just.....WTF?
Hey, I got noticed! You've got a new subscriber. I've seen these videos before but only now noticed the trend in constant quality. This channel is almost criminally underrated, as far as the subscriber count is concerned. Keep making awesome content!
You want to see "Saving Christmas" done correctly? Look no further than "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Think about it: Sad-sack protagonist depressed over the hollow commercialism of Christmas, his friend reminds him that Christmas is meant to commemorate the birth of an extraordinary person who was destined to die for man's sins, protagonist is filled with inner peace at this revelation, his friends are inspired to create beauty through kindness and teamwork. All this from a barely 30 minute cartoon from the mid-1960s. Look upon it, Kirk Cameron, and realize how mediocre you really are.
Fun fact: Charles Schultz studied theology and included frequent, non-hateful Biblical references in the original "Peanuts" strip. I'm neither Christian nor a fan of most religious media, but the way he did it is actually kind of educational and charming (probably because it wasn't the focus - just another interest of his/way he saw the world).
@@KyleRayner12 , I didn't know that, but it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Charles Schultz's work consisted of insight and wit... two things Kirk Cameron will never, ever possess.
Probably the most *vile* aspect of this movie is that it's pretty obvious that Kirk Cameron's family is rich, yet he has the goddamn nerve to say that Christmas is about materialism and gluttony.
I wonder what would happen if you tell him: No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. - Matthew 6:24 and It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. - Mark 10:25
Right??? He's all up n that annoying generic lookin party house/stage set with sum dumbass family highjink of the bro n law runnin off like it's a major crisis ya ok 🙄...n the end goin into sum elaborate dining set up n saying imagine the presents are fuckn what? Jersuselum. All I'm thinkn is whaaa why aren't u like showing us sum real shit of ANY kind this sucks ass from beginning to end. No reality cuz that IS that weirdos reality.
I almost wonder if this movie was Kirk Cameron's way of reconciling his religion with his wealth and privilege, but not in a way that meant giving either one up. His conscience was probably eating at him, but rather than do what Jesus would *actually* want him to do during the holidays, like give to the needy and think of others, he thought, "Nope, I like expensive gifts and gorging on party food too much. I'll just make up a bunch of bullsh*t to post hoc justify my greed and assuage my guilt *that* way. Brilliant!"
“I have all the characteristics of a human being: blood, flesh, skin, hair; but not a single identifiable emotion, except for greed and disgust.” -Kirk Cameron probably
He goes off about all that expensive linens n big ham at the end first of all not evryone has even close to the the spread or house Kirk Cameron does it's like he's n sum fake reality n 2nd of all I know a lot of people will disagree on this site or not see it this way but I just luvvvvv how hardcore Christian's of this douchebaggery type like Kirk are never vegan or even vegetarian to me that says u think about shit goin on in the world too n don't just fuckn preach at people
I did think of writing to Kirk to ask, since I have a friend who doesn't eat dairy products, what is the richest vegan margarine; but in the end couldn't be ersed.
So the movie is about a Christian wanting to live a more selfless, charitable life, and Kirk Cameron saves him from going down this path by embracing materialism and idolatry?
Remember when Christmas films could convey the message it wanted without hammering the bible down our throats? I mean, come on, Its A Wonderful Life had capitol G O D in it and it wasn't this preachy abomination.
+noobmaster117 Because that was a movie about a man's life and how much you really mean to people in your life, even in the smallest ways. This is just.................
I have a theory that in this movie's universe, Kirk Cameron might actually be Satan in human form. Throughout the movie, he tells Christian White to basically endorse terrible things such as being greedy (telling him that he is wrong for worrying about the less fortunate and that extreme materialism is good), violence (Santa beating a "heretic" to an inch of his life being "cool") and lies. You can even argue that he is playing with Christian's weak mind to get him to embrace the madness (whenever he makes a point, he stares at Christian until the latter responds in approval as if he is looking forward to Christian's acceptance). He also acts smug, never seeming to be daunted by any problems as if he was overly confident. You can even interpret his winking at the end indicating that he is the Devil in disguise (and is happy that he succeeded in playing into a man's mind to have him endorse selfishness). So yeah, Kirk Cameron in this movie might actually be the Devil. That or he is just a selfish moron. Still, it is fun to come up with crazy theories.
I described this movie to my catholic mom, and it went something like this: "Do you know who Kirk Cameron is?" "Yes." "Well, he made a movie where he's at a Christmas party and finds that someone is having a bad time. After asking what's wrong, the guy says that he doesn't see how anyone there is truly celebrating Jesus. The rest of the movie is them sitting in a car while Kirk explains why all the festivities do tie into Christ's birth." My mom said: "That sounds awful."
I think a good example of someone who could impart the message of Jesus without bible thumping is one of the most sincerely and deeply religious men of the past few decades here in the states, Mr. Rogers. Initially training and planning to become a minister, he decided that kids needed a reaffirming, loving voice on television and went on to create his famous show... Despite clearly being both understanding of his faith and devout in a way I doubt Kirk Cameron can even approach, he never once quoted directly from scripture or focused his episodes on God. Instead, he lived out the message he felt Jesus was trying to convey by teaching children how to be nice to one another, or bringing on physically and mentally challenged children and treating them with the sincere respect they deserved (and even keeping in touch when them throughout their lives thereafter) as opposed to the showpieces they often wind up being on more half-assed shows and films who wish to feign respect for fellow man. He also overcome racial hostilities and tension not via language that would go over a child's head but through simple and symbolic action, such as by inviting the black mailman to put his feet in the same pool as him, a technique clearly inspired by those used by Jesus and others in the bible which is full of foot washing symbolism, though again he DEMONSTRATED instead of LECTURED. Finally, rather than trying to force you into his idea of the perfect child or calling the behavior of others sinful, he'd often close with what I believe is just about the most beautiful line ever spoken on television: "There's no person in the whole world like you; and I like you just the way you are." There were no prerequisites or conditions attached, he simply loved you as a fellow human being just as Jesus, a man who would sit and dine with the sick, sinners, prostitutes, tax collectors, and anyone who would have him, said we ought to. He meant a lot to me, and I feel I learned more of the message that Jesus attempted to impart on the world from him despite never mentioning him or the bible than I have from the combined efforts of every hostile bible thumping evangelist I've since come across. Mr Rogers lived and breathed the best aspects of Christmas every day of his life, and it saddens me that the Mr Rogers of the world have given way to the Kirk Camerons and Pat Robertsons.
Not gonna lie: I used to think Mr Rogers was a dork. After I read about all he did and the lives and souls he touched, I have a new-found respect and admiration for him. Rest In Power, Fred Rogers. No wonder you won the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.
Agreed. I think that Fred Rogers was probably one of the purest and most sincere men to ever grace this earth with his presence. Yes, he came off as dorky or uncool to some of us 80s kids, but I remember watching a few of his shows after I had matured, and became an adult, and thought to myself, that this man really gets it, and is a near perfect example of what Christianity should be, and how it should be presented. I still remember a show of his, where he was talking about when tragedies happen, to not focus so much on the negative, but look for the helpers.
For fuck sake, what's up with the St. Nick story? The main reason he was called Santa Claus his Dutch name was Sinterklaas and over the years, it would evolve into Santa Claus. Also, he was known for secretly giving gifts, especially in one particular story in which he gave three big bags of gold to a poor man and the man's daughters under their tree.
Who the FUCK arranges it as "you better watch out/you better not pout??" The nerve of Kirk to arrange it in an AABB pattern instead of an ABAB pattern is revolting.
Geez, next Kirk Cameron is going to explain how Santa bringing Frosty the Snowman back to life after he melted is like when Jesus rose from the dead. "So the next time you watch Frosty the Snowman, look at the greenhouse Frosty melted in as the empty tomb. Much like how Frosty is no longer a puddle of water in the greenhouse, Jesus is no longer dead and buried in the tomb. He's alive." If it turns out that that was a deleted scene, I wouldn't be surprised.
"Well what about Mrs Claus? I don't see anything in the bible about Mrs Clause?" "Well you see, the pairing of a man and a woman originates from the pairing of Adam and Eve from genesis. Santa is Adam, and Mrs Claus is Eve."
+Nick Longoria I'm... not sure whether I'd prefer to hear that. On the one hand, about half of this film's run time is useless padding with gibberish and singing, so maybe I'd prefer further stretching of Christmas traditions, like how Rudolph was ridiculed and isolated for his Christian beliefs but became a light to the world, like Christians are called to be... On the other hand, the comparisons Cameron already made broke my sanity (which these comments are helping me repair. Thank you all.), so I'm not sure I want to know more...
So according to Kirk, when we think of Christmas, we shouldn't think of giving and generosity, compassion and charity, or togetherness with family. Rather, we should think of beating the crap out of heretics, Herod's campaign of infanticide, and the bloody execution of Jesus. Well, all right.
It is amazing how "Christians" get so obsessed with violence. Take a look at Gibson's "Passion of the Christ", could have been a good movie - but just so stuffed with violence. Yes, Jesus suffered - but don't let that be the point. Heck, anyone who was crucified suffered - it was torture after all. The point was Jesus life/teachings, his sacrifice - but Gibson used it as an excuse to make a bloody violent/torture porn movie. It just astounds how people manage to pervert the word of God....beyond all recognition.
“There’s something about Christmas that makes people want to be more kind.” Apparently Kirk has never been to a mall on Black Friday to see all that kindness on full display. Speaking of which; my new Christmas tradition is watching Christmas Karens on RU-vid.
So Santa Claus, the icon of childhood innocence, is protrayed as a brutish Barbarian that beats the shit out of people who don't agree with him? Classy Mr. Cameron
Which is hilarious, because Santa Claus is based on Saint Nicolas. But of course Kirk Cameron can't talk about that. He's busy to spread propagan- I mean, Christian spirit in the family movies.
Kirk Cameron is the height of the American Christian persecution complex. He literally thinks that anyone who doesn't think the same way he does is out to take something away from him.
I've watched this three full times and I'm convinced this review is a masterpiece. I met Kirk Cameron in real life and he's just as bat shit insane as he acts in this movie.
I brought the DVD of this insanity and trsut me, Ive got a new traditional christmas movie along Nightmare Before Chrismas and Nostalgia Critic WORST CHRISMAS SPECIAL episode.
Which is bizarre, since he's referencing the Nicene council as a good thing, but when those same kind of early church fathers appropriated Pagan beliefs, even their holiday, he needs to lie about it. He only likes those old leaders when they do things he approves of.
Bill Jacobs That's how it is with all leaders. People like you more as a leader if you do something that the majority believe is right. And if you do the opposite, or try to change their minds, they will hate you. But the way that Kirk here sees it is very backwards. You can't just ignore or lie about something or that vital about people you claim to follow the beliefs of.
Most people who think like him do. But thats most likely because they're using their faith to push an political agenda like most republicans do. after all super religious people tend to be very Naive and gullible. Look at the 2016 election!
"but when those same kind of early church fathers appropriated Pagan beliefs" Care to name them, or are you just making generalized, sweeping statements without any actual proof? "even their holiday" That's wrong actually. There is no other Holiday within the European pagan belief system that puts significance on the day December 25th, people merely use the celebrations during the entire season of Winter as an excuse (and wrongly) for Christmas "appropriating" paganism. As for the whole "Christmas tree" debacle, it has no actual significance to the Christian doctrine, and serves merely as a cultural celebratory ritual re-purposed from earlier beliefs. "But thats most likely because they're using their faith to push an political agenda like most republicans do. after all super religious people tend to be very Naive and gullible. Look at the 2016 election!" Oh, let me guess, you're one of those "I'M WITH HER!" suckers, right? Yea, let's ignore the millions of dollars Hillary received in aid from Saudi Arabians, and her lying under oath and acid-washing her email servers. No wonder an idiot like you would be opposed to Christianity.
bud389 shut the f****** both Hillary and Trump were pieces of s*** both their campaigns were garbage and both their policies were dangerous we all know that everyone knows the 2016 election was a sham even you
I think I'll stick with my usual Christmas traditions of going to Mass with my grandparents, opening presents with my family, and watching a Muppet's Christmas Carol. Sorry Kirk Cameron. You just can't hold a candle to Charles Dickens in terms of getting into the Christmas spirit.
“What, are they going to tell us hot chocolate is bad for you? That the druids invented it?” Actually sugar is bad for you and chocolate is a Native American food, so, kinda Kirk.
Speaking as a Christian, even I find myself scratching my head at this stinker! WTF!? Kirk Cameron you DO know most Christmas traditions have pagan origins, and that the Catholic Church was responsible for transplanting Christian ideals onto those traditions, in an attempt to woo pagans to Christianity. And it actually resulted in the modern holiday we know and love. Christmas is a holiday EVERYONE can enjoy, if they choose to. So, Kirk...just let your "brother" sit in his car, and go drink your nonexistent hot cocoa!
I think most Christians are scratching their heads at this stinker. In fact, I'd go so far to say that if they're not, there's something wrong with them.
I don't understand why Kirk didn't bring up that the Puritans who settled here used to oppress anyone celebrating Christmas. Beatings, hangings, etc. Oh right, sorry, he's rewriting reality.
Kirk's comments on materialism seems to prove that he's a big fan of "prosperity gospel" which is one of the worst perversions of Christianity. The short version of "prosperity gospel" is that God wants rich people to be rich. That your wealth proves that you are chosen by God because you are a better human being than not-rich people. Which is kind of the EXACT OPPOSITE of what Jesus said when he threw all the money changers out of the temple.
Most modern day "Christians" ignore most of the biblical no nos. They like to ignore the commandments and scriptures that are inconvenient and don't fit their lifestyle, so they just re write the bible to fit. The vanity, greed, sloth, drunkeness and lust, seems to be what most of the Xtians struggle with or just ignore completely. They just re wrote the bible to say that Jesus and God were also drunken, vain, shallow and greedy assholes.
@@stephaniebaker1542 Too right. This movie started off with him listing material things he loves. The Bible explicitly forbids loving material things. I've yet to meet a fundamentalist Christian that was actually a Christian by any stretch of the imagination.
@@singaporesammy I personally, have only met one family, that are true believers in Christ, and they are very humble, and they live humble. Most of the professing so called Christians, that I have met or seen, are not humble, and do not live humble, they lie, and do all kinds of unbelievable things, and then still say they are Christian, and they give true Christians like the humble family that I know a bad name.
Yes, Kirk worships Supply-Side Jesus. Supply-Side Jesus wears golden robes, which provides work for robe-makers! And he doesn't cure lepers, because then they'd have no incentive to avoid leprosy! Supply-Side Jesus makes the world a better place...for Supply-Side Jesus, anyway!
I know this comment is 4 years old, but if anyone is curious just how disgusting this prosperity gospel can be, you should definitely check out John Olivers show on "Televangelists". He really shows just how vile some of these people geniunely can be...
That whole bit with the "Alright, Everybody, let's feast!" ...Everything about that scene... The little jump for joy, the way he said it, the context and just the sheer glib, unintentional (???) smugness of it? ...I have never wanted to harm a human being more in my life.
I'm pretty sure that no one has ever attributed Christmas trees to Druids, seeing as how the Druids were Celtic and the origin of Christmas trees is most likely _Germanic_.
+Amestris I think people who don't know pagan religions just use "druids" as a catch-all term for "people who believe magic stuff with nature but aren't witches".
I've actively avoided any Kirk Cameron interviews, appearances, and movies since he started being a nutcase, so I didn't realize it was THIS bad. I had a huge crush on him when I used to watch Growing Pains growing up, and this is really creeping me out. Every shot shown, his expression makes him look like a total psychopath. :O
You should see him in the Left Behind films; he only has one facial expression, namely looking like he's unexpectedly shat himself and is hoping no one's noticed.
Why does Kirk Cameron deliver every line like he's narrating a documentary for children? I can totally hear him saying, "The three-toed sloth actually moves so slowly that algae grows inside its fur! I'll bet you've never owned a Chia Pet like this before!"
Kirk Cameron comes off like someone who doesn't think he's wrong on anything and doesn't realize how smug and ridiculous he comes off in the process. You just want to tell him 'Get a grip, pal!' or 'Get over yourself!'. And the conspiracy theories that one guy spouted off was hilarious for all the wrong reasons. Trainwreck city!
12:24 Don't you just love the irony of Kirk Cameron, an admitted creationist, lecturing someone else of drinking the kool-aid? That's like Dick Cheney accusing someone else of being a war monger.
@@MinscFromBaldursGate92 "drinking the Kool-aid" is an idiom for blindly following a leader. It originates from the Jonestown mass suicide where Rev. Jim Jones convinced 900+ people to drink poisoned Kool-aid.
Haha! This whole thing is great. But thank you, in particular, for the gut-punch humor on "...and I love hot chocolate!" "WELL, THEN YOU SHOULD POUR SOME IN THAT OBVIOUSLY EMPTY CUP!!"
December 23, 2023. Continuing my Christmas break tradition of going through the Cinema Snob Christmas episodes. It doesn't matter how many times I have seen this, it still holds up every year.
Nah this movie was only made to increase Kirk Cameron's obnoxious ego. Now I'm wondering if he blackmailed Phil Robertson and Dr. Ben Carson to do positive reviews, which to me it actually happened.
+Z Film Reviews Order it from Christian Cinema, totally worth it. I already watch it 6 times and last time, I laughed even more because this movie + whisky is the perfect combination.
+ArthasTheCoward Did you take a shot everytime Kirk mentioned cocoa? I have heard, that watching this movie under the influence of your favorite substance, helps quite a bit.
+ArthasTheCoward you should hav found a way to steal it. buying it ecurages them to make more of them and eventualy somones gonna start to belive the bullshit
The Abortion I payed 25$ for the DVD plus the shipping. I totally support this guy to make more sh!t like that. Because they are the funniest-stupidest shit in Cinema. But seriously, if they are people who believe is bullshit, they need a real education.
Is this movie trolling? I feel like most of the people who made it don't believe a word of this shit. And I love that the "bad guy" is called Christian, and he wants them to give to charity, and Kirk is like, naw man. That's not what Christmas is about!
+Beerwoman! Nope... Kirk is a well-known Christian actor/director/producer/whateverhemakesshittymovies. Maybe some of the cast isn't taking it seriously, but Kirk is clearly a fanatic about this. It's kinda scary.
OMG Jesus Christ! When Cameron pulled out that shit about the 'truth' of christmas trees, I laughed so hard I nearly threw up. Seriously, I still feel queasy. That was inSANE! I'm wondering how many non-christians seeing this in the theater broke down in uncontrollable fits of laughter (and how the fundy audience members reacted). There is no way I would have been able to contain myself. Wow! I think I need to get a copy of this just for the comedy value.
I worship Santa Christ. Did you know he rescued puppies from a fire and also likes pancakes? Also Kirk Cameron's only known for a Kiwi with a banana-sucking fixation and the Crocaduck.
Feels like I'm watching a Christmas version of The Cube. No one escapes and everyone dies, but not before they lose their damn minds. I feel sorry for Kirk Cameron's family. He's certifiable!
This entire movie feels like this is coming the %1 view on Christmas. It's easy to justify materialism when your entire upbringing has been sunshine and butterflies. Meanwhile, my mother was lucky if she could afford firewood for our woodstove and be able to provide for two children during the holiday season. Does living in poverty make someone a bad Christian, Kirk?
This is honestly kind of depressing to watch. Kirk Cameron takes someone who just wanted to help out people and radicalize them to fight for this horrible interpretation of Christianity that goes out of it's way to hurt others because of lies that there's a war on christmas.
Wait, so based on Kirk's explanation for Christmas trees, why don't Christians just have them up all year round? Oh, that's right, because his explanation was bullshit.
Lol Wow then you haven’t seen very many movies… This isn’t even the most heavy-handed Christian movie that the cinema snob has ever reviewed even at the time it was posted…
Jews were doing it first. The Story of Noah is pretty much a carbon copy of a story from the Epic of Gilgamesh... in reality pretty much every religion does it.
harrietamidala1691 it means he's trying to be aziz ansari and play this off as just wacky overacting. let's be real, it's probably the only way he was able to say those lines and not either die laughing or punch someone.
luv4hutch Indeed. My least favourite part of it is their rendition of I Am The very Model of a Modern Major-General, which is my favourite song in the score.
21:46-"Perhaps you can even light the crosses on fire to let the whole town know that your love for Christ burns brighter than any human flame." That line cracks me up every time.😂😂😝
It really baffles me just how deluded and arrogant Cameron and his ilk are. That's what bugs me even more than their bigoted views, they are just so _stuck up_ about their hatred towards others!
Kirk Cameron should have made a movie about the barbarian Saint Nicholas seen here instead of whatever this was supposed to be about. Seriously, why does he look like a Skyrim Jarl?
And tackler of heretics. No joke Saint Nicholas tackled a Heretical Bishop for teaching that Jesus was only Mortal and not Divine. Granted I would probably be upset if I grew up in a time when people I knew were murdered for saying Jesus was God and then a member of my own Religion started saying he wasn't.
I'm a Christian, and this review did not offend me at all. In fact, it was pretty funny! This movie is awful anyway, and most of the "facts" are bizarre. I celebrate Christmas, but I know that Jesus (Yeshua) was not really born on Dec. 25th. We don't know exactly when he was born, but probably sometime in the spring. Also, like 90% of all Christmas decorations are pagan-inspired. Trying to justify this whole thing in a movie is actually pretty scary. Christian White's character at the beginning was right! Why are we spending so much money on decorations when we could feed another family?? Oh, and I believe that Herod did massacre the children, but Brad is right, that it isn't in other historical texts that we've found yet (at least, I haven't heard of it). That doesn't mean it didn't happen. The only real reference we have of Socrates' teachings is from the writings of Plato, but that doesn't mean Socrates didn't exist. Anyway, lighten up, everyone! It's just a movie, and it's just a review. And a funny one at that.
What does Herod killing babies have to do with the subject of the film though? What does the swaddling cloth have to do with anything? This movies dialogue is just gibberish. Kirk completely failed to answer Christian's questions, he barely even tried to.
I love how of all the deeds of St. Nicholas, these dorks chooses the completely mythical act of violence against someone who just disagreed with him. I would love to find out what kinds of drugs Done and Cameron were on when they made this
I actually gave out copies of this movie as gag gifts a few years ago. Me and my friend have a Christmas tradition of giving each other bad movies for Christmas, many of them have been featured on this show. I gave Saving Christmas, he gave me Samurai Cop 2.
A long time ago, probably the 1990’s, I recall reading an interview with a young actress. She was asked what is the worst advice anyone gave her regarding acting. Her response was “to watch Kirk Cameron”. 😂🤣
Perhaps you could even light the crosses on fire to let the whole town know that your love for Christ burns brighter than any human flame! Dude fuckin dying laughing at this line.
It's ironic that Cameron's film is just there to push his religious agenda; because this movie is being played in hell 24/7, 365. Did Cameron really say his divorce was the equivalent of Jesus' death? Cool blasphemy, bro.
I can't believe something like this movie could get greenlighted by anyone's who's not Kirk Cameron. I just want for Kirk Cameron to know that not all Christians will support this piece of crap movie that confuses its values halfway and then tries to push it down everyone's throat.
St. Nick is even creepier than he seemed last time I saw this video. He JUST finishes beating the crap out of someone for disagreeing with him slightly, and some servant girl says "got that out of your system?" And he gets a really creepy smile on his face and says he wants to "bless some kids". At BEST, he implies he wants to beat up some children too. You know there's something wrong with a movies when assaulting children is what I HOPE he's gonna do.
Man I am a Christian and I despise the Christian movies, especially God's Not Dead. It is such a poor (albeit sadly accurate) portrayal of an American Christian worldview. It panders to the lowest common denominator, has terrible theology and best of all the "cases of discrimination" stated in the film credits were either false or taken out of context to give money to the Alliance Defending Freedom. Kirk Cameron tho? Let's just say he's the butt end of a few jokes my friends and I made in bible college.
TheLegendaryJF If you want to watch some good Christian movies, go check out Ben-Hur (1925), Ben-Hur (1950s), Life of Brian, Intolerance, and The Ten Commandments.
I’ve noticed Christian movies tend to make everyone look like complete and utter asshole morons. I understand why they do that to people like me, atheists, but why do they do it to Christians too? I mean they seriously make you guys look either completely mentally challenged or just like complete and utter assholes. I don’t understand that.
I'd rather watch "Manos" the Hands of Fate, unriffed, than see all of this. And that movie ends with an eight-year-old becoming a child bride to a cult leader!
Arius didn't even deny Christ was the son of God. He just said Christ wasn't eternal - he was created. Thus, the Arian slogan "There was a time when the Son was not". Of course, Arius wasn't involved with the Council of Nicea because he wasn't a bishop, as you mention, so the story of Nicholas of Myra slapping him is unlikely. My favorite, and far more plausible, anecdote about Saint Nicholas is the time he helped three sisters who were forced into prostitution by poverty find husbands by throwing bags of money (for a dowry) through their window.
