This episode is peak "Rory was an only child", like it's the first time she's ever had to share space with someone on her own age and she canNOT handle it lmao
Kirk: She's supposed to sneak out and leave me here humiliated. And she touched my arm. What the hell was that all about?! Luke: I think that means she likes you. Kirk: Shut up! You take that back! Best conversation of the episode. SO funny.
I love the instant Jason hate. Its hilariously on-brand for this channel. 😂 I really do like Jason as a character though and I hope you come around to him eventually. His wit is on par with Lorelai's and even if I don't _quite_ think they work as a couple, they're a lot of fun to watch together.
Kirk: This meatloaf... is it a romantic food? Is it getting you hot? Luke: KIRK! 🤣🤣🤣 I continue to love your amusement with Kirk. He's hilarious and always on the show in just the right dosage.
Lol i see the rory rage is really starting to kick in 😂 she doesnt own the damn tree! Love this season though and lovely reaction. Kirks date always makes me giggle its so sweet
Oh please! Lorelai is just selfish and wanted her whining throne all to herself. Same reason she went to Jason, not because she cared about Emily, she just wanted the money. She's the same person who said and I quote, "As long as everything is exactly the way I want it, I'm totally flexible 🙄"
@amaiaig2549 True, I never said it was mature. I'm just calling out the double standards though. For example, if Lorelai or Paris did the same thing, it would just be seen as a silly filler episode, but just because Rory used to be this flawless perfect character in season 1, her flaws are over exaggerated
Personally, I think the flaws were always there. They're just coming out now that she isn't the princess of Stars Hollow. And Lorelai is incredibly selfish, but I do think she really intended to get Jason to rethink Emily's role in the business.
@@jlerrickson Are you talking about Rory in the first part? I don't know what flaws you mean exactly, but if anything I think she was beloved by the whole town for a reason. Name *one* character who's flawless. Rory's pretty tame in comparison
@@2029-jo yes, I was talking about Rory, and every person in the show has flaws. I never particularly warmed to Rory, so I'm definitely not holding her to an impossible standard. I don't care that she makes stupid mistakes: it's her entitled behavior and lack of accountability that I don't care for. Also, I'm pretty sure that the reason the town puts Rory on such a pedestal is that they all adopted her and Lolerai when they moved there and were invested in her to an unhealthy degree. The constant narrative from the town and her family that she's such a talented little angel that deserves everything did her no favors.
I'm glad you noticed 'annoying Rory' because for a lot of people the moment they turn on Rory was in this episode with a crisp 20 dollars and that g*d damn tree.
I noticed and was going to say something but when I went back to check it had been replaced by this one so it's a good thing you realised, because it felt like we jumped forward 10 episodes or something and missed a whole lot of stuff, luckily I've seen the show before so I knew what was happening but it was still pretty jarring and confusing from watching your reactions, but I can totally understand how that would happen if you've recorded a lot in advance.
Amy Sherman Palladino shows aresome of the MOST hilarious in the world. Pleaseplease PLEASE do Bunheads, I think I've said this before - but despite being one season, it's like the best thing inthe world.
This show is a comedy with dramatic moments in it tbh. The dialogue itself filled with so much humor although some of it tends to go over people's heads. I never saw it as a drama show - just a really well written comedy with occasional serious undertones.
referring to the Lorelie's question, yes, she was great from the first ep and you just got used to it. her choices were sometimes questionable but she was still great. man, this episode was hilarious. even though I agree with you about the minuses of the ep, it was awesome. kirk and luke are iconic. Emily is as well, as always, I loveeee my queen. Jason is a sleezbag I can't wait for him to disappear. and I very much dislike college Rory tbh. not quit hate, we haven't got there yet, but I am reminded that she was quit annoying here already.
25:06 You mean the same Lorelai who whines about everything 24/7? Let's not forget her EXACT quote from earlier "As long as everything is exactly the way I want it, I'm totally flexible 🙄". Also to answer your question at 16:10 Lorelai hasn't changed, we're just supposed to accept every flaw of hers as quirky, same as we do we with Paris (who let's be honest, whines WAYYY more and throughout the entire show than Rory did just for this one little scene). So yeah, I just find the Rory slander by some fans ridiculous and extremely hypocritical
Because he was an ass and had a shit personality when he didn't want to impress someone. Like when he visited Stars Hollow and tailgated Luke or when he didn't even go to his Partners' mothers funeral. Or even just the way he came into the show: betraying his fathers trust, stealing a lot of clients and joining his competitor instead. Even if their relationship wasn't that great, this is an asshole-move nonetheless. And do I even need to mention his apparently traumatized dog?
Jason aka Digger is a man-child who totally sucks! I can't stand him... and I'm not even saying that because he's a roadblock for Luke and Lorelai, because there some toxic aspects of Luke's personality that I don't like. But Digger is a jerk all on his own. It shows just how shallow Lorelai is that after having a moment of protectiveness toward Emily, and after Digger made that ignorant bra-less T shirt comment, in a heartbeat she thinks dating him is a good idea, just because it would piss off Emily. I know you weren't keen on Max, but Max is way better than Digger. As for Rory, when you did the episode from the previous season when Rory and Jess were at a party and he got pushy with her, not listening to her tell him to stop, when they were on a bed, you said that you didn't understand all the Rory hate you've been seeing, because she did nothing wrong, you were right she did nothing wrong, but we've now entered the time of Rory becoming more obnoxious. If she would've spent all the time, she wasted going place to place whining about not having a place to study, actually studying, she would've had her work done. I used often study and do schoolwork in my car. Rory was gifted a car by Richard and Emily, so she could've studied there with the seat adjusted just how she liked it and had something playing on the speakers at a volume that was not too loud or too quiet, but she preferred to complain like an insufferable brat. In a previous episode, you complained about Marty, who obviously had a crush on her, but the truth is Marty is too good of a person for Rory. Marty is a sweetheart, but Rory is too self-entitled to appreciate anyone who treats her decently.
Lorelai actually didn't agree to go on a date with him at this point, she was just a bit tempted. But we all know where they'll end up so I guess it's not much of a difference. I'm really surprised seeing so many people defend him in the comments, I always thought he was universally hated. But apparently a shit personality can be forgiven by many if you can just hold your own with the quirky banter.
