tbf, most akatsukis were strong enough to solo a tailed beast so that tailess tailed beast doesnt mean much in that context when kages and akatsukis could keep the tailed beast from rampaging solo beside the nine tails and arguably eight tales.

The more chakra reserves an opponent has, the stronger Kisame is (that's why he's effective against jinchurikis). Guy doesn't rely on chakra at all, he uses "big nuts energy" to fight (jk). He just uses pure Taijutsu, which makes Kisame's chakra stealing abilities useless.

Ik I’m off topic but Shisui, Minato, Neji, Kimimaro, Fugaku Uchiha, Izuna Uchiha, Asuma, Rin, Dan Kota, Hizashi Hyuga, Sakumo Hatake are all characters who died early and never reached their primes and although Asuma showed us most of his abilities I’m sure he could’ve been stronger by the War Arc like Kakashi and Guy

Itachi did reach his prime, stop fanboying. In fact, he had started his decline. His vision was already blurry when he was fighting Sasuke. It was all going to be downhill for him from there, even if he lived

I wonder if he realised what kind of person he was at the moment of his death. He was certainly not worthless.

Kisame was NOT lacking identity, but the identity he already took and knew was avoiding important parts of self knowledge: that although he was very confident on who he was (strong identity) when death comes, he might finally get the part of himself that is hidden. There was a story in Reader’s Digest form the 80’s I think. It said that a witness so a truck full of jewish women being driven to be murdered. In the horror, two women stood out: one was praying to he God, while another was cursing her murderers. I think both, did RIGHT, bc at the end of their lives, they were allowing themselves to say and do what they most wanted to do, they were being loyal to themselves, they both had the right to do what they were doing and were brave enough to do such things in the face of death and in the face of their murderers. I think a great lot of people lack identity, bc they know nothing about themselves or about the human nature, Kisame was not one of those, that’s the reason why he was able to grasp the meaning of Itachi’s words. Most humans don’t reach that point ever, they wear such heavy masks, that when the lights are doing down, they’ can’t take it off, they die with their masks on, never knowing who they really are, not even realizing they’ve never known themselves, much less other humans. Kisame is loyal to himself, so he is able to be loyal to a cause, a job and a mission, he considers powerful and important, he’s no loyal to comrades, romantic interests, etc. This is why Kisame is drawn to people who are also loyal to themselves, like Itachi, Pain and his sword, bc even his sword is loyal to itself: Samehada like to be next to powerful Chakra and be treated nicely. So, Samehada left Kisame for the 8. In order to be successful Kisame had a great deal of human knowledge. If anyone in the serious has a lack of identity is Sasuke. Great genes, on a idiot, who doesn’t know who he is, who the people around him are, who is brother is, what cause to take, when to take it, a lost person, a bullet to the air. That’s no Kisame at all.

Even though they were from different hidden villages, I always liked their level of interaction. Itachi as a modest but wise older comrade in the duo and Kisame respects him endlessly for this and understands his position.

It really is. It's a pity this show has fans who do see things black and white and ruin the moral ambiguity surrounding this show and insult others for not conforming to their views and morality.

Each and every section of the society has been highlighted, each and every sort of ideologies, trends , mindsets , the virtues of the life and their importance has been explained. There are hidden short stories in this entire saga that taught us values , why something is called good or something is said bad has been explained rightfully. All in all this is an awesome series and hence will always stand out. Love you kishimoto for this epic
