China should not underestimate the Hegemonic US world power nor the Hegegemonic US should underestimate China's determination to Reunifying Taiwan island with the Motherland
It is always a pleasure to listen to Kishore and there is always so much to learn from him. I am keen to looking forward to hear him speak in a talk, lecture or interview. Keep it up Kishore.
Vietnam and Philippines, will spoiled the long peace vision of SEA ( ASEAN), on China, with their aggressive geo political approach on South China Sea, leaning to western power.
Is it the other way around? Isn’t China that is stirring the pot with their insistence of their fictitious 9 dash line? Why blame Vietnam and the Philippines? Asean has become inutile in the face of China bullying behaviour! Utterly useless.
Russia and China cooperation would be able to take on the US and its allies. Do not underestimate these two countries. Russia has a large number of nuclear warheads, and China is world renowned for logistics, AI and space technology, etc.
America can destroyed any country within seconds and don't forget whatever china has attain in lastv30 years could be collapse with one action of America which is taking all the international brands out of china😢
I agreed many explanations with Kishore except one, India. Don't have high expectation on India. Till now she is playing a dangerous game of geopolitics, siding US and change side to Russia, seem lost in ideal and direction. That's why China is staying away from India, knowing her as double edge sword. Her infrastructure, domestic problems chaste class, Kolkata, Kashmir and Manipur and other NE regions are totally in a mess. Hence if a country cannot put her home in order, how you expect to contribute to the world. Change of leadership again and again and no ends.
@@chindian987 Brazil, Indonesia and some other emerging economies most probably will get there first because they are ahead in getting their acts together
Asean countries should stay neutral with the two superpowers. The third emerging power is India, but its policy always flip-flop and an opportunist country. I doubt India would protect small Asean countries.
everyone wants democracy like india which china cant provides and thats the reasons, despite so much money pouring into Africa, people still hate china 😂
Should have asked him how ordinary citizens can and should, in their own way, deepen their understanding of geopolitics in the context of Singapore's role in the world.
BRICS alternative. The IMF will become nothing if China wants to withdraw or steps back as there will be alternatives that serves the same purpose as IMF without the USA coercion.
China will eventually be the biggest economy of the world given the population size. If US is smart they should work with China to remain the number two and India number three.
At times I think experiences has a capturing impact that drives rhetoric's strength in rationalizing opinions. I like this speaker's views but that there is a weakness to address geopolitical issues from an innocent zero influence angle. It might also need to consider divergent opinion as to be seen as smart is reduced as it might be seen as manifest of manipulation. Professor Howard Nicholas is a person who appreciates this and appreciates that USA actually invited its downward road by using coercive power. Operative weapons can be learned, and one can actually witness changes in innovative skills such as ASML CEO should have learned.
There is almost no possibility of a zero influence angle that only belongs in theory to academics it is not realistic in real life situations. Any interactions you have with any individual directly or indirectly influences the direction of his or her actions. The issue with geopolitics is how much influence whether through talks and dialogues or through coercive means should you exert to change the outcome to something that you want and what are the consequences of your actions.
Over 70% of Singaporeans are Chinese. But Singapore's China expert is Kishore Mahbubani. How interesting? 以铜为镜,可以正衣冠, 以史为镜,可以知兴替。 Sorry lor, no angmoh country or empire managed to bounce back after it had collapsed. Ha ha ha!
He is so wrong this Kishore , he only speaks about past and makes a storytelling narrative. He flatters china because he took lots of money for his university. He barks but he has no vision. Indian Singaporean, therefore he sits on the fence.
