After hearing interviews years later from the band, on this tour they cut it short because of lagging ticket sales, and Paul said people didn't show up in big numbers anymore because they felt betrayed by the band's "pop" albums they made a few years earlier [78-81]. So, experimentation is a risky business, and Kiss learned the hard way. Notice from '96 on they never used dynasty, unmasked or elder costumes.
i saw this lineup here in houston with wendy o. williams and the plasmatics as the opener and they literally blew the roof off the coliseum. it had to be the loudest and best show apart from the '96 reunion show for me.
wow how much did it cost and how long did it take to repair the roof? how many people died? how did the band survive?? that really sounds like a CRAZY, CRAZY NIGHT!
Be nice if the raw footage of this concert was released. There is NO good Creatures concert yet available. There has to be one out there. South America doesn't do it for me.
He wanted to be an equal partner and have a piece of the royalties. Gene and Paul just wanted a guitar player that shut his mouth and thanked them for letting him play. It's the same reason Mark St John left the band. Vinnie was good for Kiss and they shat on him.
say what the fuck u want. the 70's kiss had soul and there was a chemistry within the band. the 80's was paul and genes gayshow with some hired guns like mr. vincent. and when it comes to animalize and asylum i think its the most emotionless crap ever. even carnival of souls has more heart.
Vinnie never fit the band? He co-wrote most of Creatures and Lick It Up and he could play his ass off. He wanted to be more than just a hired gun. Gene and Paul couldn't let that happen. Same with Mark St John. They needed a yes man like Kulick. Ace was the best Kiss guitarist and the other two hated him too.
THIS IS THE CLIP THAT GOT ME INTO KISS - !!!!!!!! UK, March 1983. It fucking destroyed me when i saw it. The original episode had I LOVE IT LOUD tagged on, but this is from the VHS collection that the BBC put out a few years later. Presumably they didn't have clearance for the promo vid.
what do you mean "these days".that was over 20 years ago.non makeup kiss is 1000 times better musically.the only thing kiss with makeup has going for it is just that....THE MAKEUP.ace did get all the credit for all the songs he wrote.vinnie, eric carr, eric singer, mark st john and bruce kulick are WAY better musicians, singers and song writrs then gene, paul, ace or peter.those guys saved kiss.now paul and gene are killing it again.
and ok vinnie should have cred for writing the songs on creatures, lick it up and revenge. but then ace should have just as much cred for writing the songs he wrote, which are way better. if u ask me creatures is a great album. revenge is a good album. lick it up is a less good album. the albums they did with frehley more or less kick ass all of them. everything that came before vinnie was better than what came with him or after him,
imo kiss, hotter than hell, dressed to kill, rock and roll over, creatures of the night and revenge are the greatest kiss albums. destroyer, love gun, dynasty, unmasked and the elder are good. lick it up, crazy nights and hot in the shade are ok. animalize, asylum, carnival of souls and psycho circus is crap.
except for CREATURES OF THE NIGHT. but lets face it: u're not gonna change ur opinion, and im not gonna change mine. lets leave it that way. kiss rules anyway-
Well, saying that Bon Jovi is musically better than Thin Lizzy is quite a stupid thing to say. Bon Jovi is a good band... But better than Lizzy? I wouldn't dare to say that...... Oyeah, and I got about 27 years under my belt!
Wow. How can ANYONE NOT LOVE Ace? Vinnie is/was a great replacement for Ace and great guitarist. He simply didn't get along well with Gene and Paul. But then again doesn't seem like many people did.
Met them at Warehouse Records . We had just found out that Ace wasn't in the band. Limo pulls up and out steps Vinny. In-store he seemed normal and fit right in. Eric seemed a bit nervous signing things and so incredibly gracious.
Vinnie rules...and what's weird, the band seems very comfortable, no sign of tensions. March '83: This is the clip that got me into Kiss. I had a video recording of it, and watched it over and over for 8 weeks, then went out and bought KILLERS, and the rest is history. I stupidly erased the tape, thinking 'how often am i going to watch this?'...and regretted it for years. SoCo1972: I agree - but i doubt that the above concert was recorded in full. Shame about the lack of Creatures material.
How can you say Iommi doesn't belong, he pretty much created what all the others followed. And Zakk is simply an awesome guitarist. I agree Slash and Angus are great also. Honestly almost impossible to narrow it down to just a few because there are many great players.
saying 80's kiss is better musically than 70's kiss is pretty much like saying bon jovi is better musically than thin lizzy. i will disagree til the end of time.
yea ace solo stuff just kills vinnies stuff.thats why vinnie vincent invasion toured with big bands, was on movie soundtracks and sold a ton more than freahleys comet.vinnie vincent had way better songs then frehleys comet.frehleys comet sucked.only sold what it did cause of kiss fans.dont want to sound like im dissing ace,i really like ace for the space ace thing, but as a musician he doesnt even come close to any of the other kiss guitarist.vinnie, mark and bruce smoke ace as a guitar player.
musically bon jovi is WAY better than thin lizzy.did they write better music, cooler tunes, more rock and roll style music....no.but as musicians they are better than thin lizzy.
I met Vinnie in Connecticut just before he joined Kiss. He had his own band at the time. I would categorize the man I met as an "interesting asshole". Or, perhaps, a "gifted idiot". Perhaps he'd had to much to drink at the time, but he definitely had, I would say, equal parts charisma, drink and ego. At the time, I felt that he was trying to toy with me in our conversation, so I chalked him up to being 100% asshole. Next thing I knew he was a member of Kiss. Go figure.
creatures, lick it up,crazy nights, hot in the shade and revenge are better then most of 70's kiss stuff.animalize, asylum, carnival of souls and psycho circus sucked.the only good(musically)kiss make up stuff is hotter than hell, elder and creatures.the rest is gay ass lame commercial stuff.
ummm.bon jovi is WAY better musically than thin lizzy.richie sambora is an excellent guitar player.bon jovis drummer is also very good.listen up...go out and learn to play an instrument and when you got about 10 years under your belt come back and tell me that 70's kiss and thin lizzy musically is better than 80's kiss and bon jovi.
