09:48 This is a key moment. I can see Peter’s frustration of not being listened to or taken seriously. Gene talks over the top of him and you can see Paul after he cracks his joke look over at Gene and quickly stops joking and becomes serious. If Gene would’ve just gotten a stick out of his ass and enjoyed the interview like everybody else he would’ve been fine.
Ace and Peter come off as the most like able in this.. Gene is too cool and Paul sometimes comes to his senses and loosens up but he is still uptight.. Ace and Peter are the only two who gave a good interview

Did anyone else notice how fast Gene shot Ace down when they were talking about Japanese vs German remote helicopters and Ace wanted to give the Heil Hitler salute??😂
We can hardly hear it but Peter wrote in his book about this show. Gene tried to 'correct' them all the time and to 'manage the situation'. When Ace says that he doesn't do drugs (and sounds ironic), Gene says 'He's kidding.' When Peter is talking about collecting guns, Gene says 'Toy guns.' Also when Peter talks about dreaming about being a gangster, he adds 'In the movies'. Peter also wrote that this was the first time they could show their real selves to the public with Ace. He was fired a few months later.
I always come back to watch this interview every year when I think about it lol Ace and Peter were the best part of that band idc what anyone says I think if gene and Paul were as laid back they would have never split the original band up
I'm a huge KISS fan! This interview is very famous. Gene and Paul were obviously not digging Ace that night. Tom Snyder, however, seemed to get a kick out of it. Less than a year after this, Peter would leave, thus breaking up the original four. Did you see the recent A&E two-part doc on KISS?
Wow! I have never watched this til today😂. I was 6 yrs old when this aired. After seeing this I can truly say that Gene Simmons was and is a true hater! Omg I would cringe if I was him. He should be so ashamed of trying to ruin this interview. He obviously cant handle the fact that NOBODY is paying him any attention. His personality sucks! Ace and Peter saved this from being a boring piece. No wonder they wanted them out of the group. Gene and Paul have zero personality aside from the stage.
I may not be a big fan, but after hear this just to see how well they truly are. i would love more then ever to hear their music. in 1979 i was 17 yrs old. Like they say: The show must go on. ...i've been thinking of what they say about superhero, Why not ''The KISS SUPERHERO'S''

I read on a KISS fansite that Ace took 🍾&💊 before the show because he got so nervous, despite performing to millions on stage. Despite the risky combo he took, this made the Spaceman into a laughing comedian on live TV on Halloween night with KISS.

Maybe because they are worth lots of money (coming from a famous guitarist) and if they sell it they can use the money for food I’m not sure but this makes the most sense
