I saw a KISS cover band quite a few years ago here in my hometown. They went by the name Mr. Speed. There was a point in the set where they asked for requests from lesser-played KISS songs and I yelled out "MR. SPEED!" Seems obvious, but they didn't know it, except for the lead guitarist.
@@glakhmed that is hilarious and probably an embarrassing moment for them. I'm sure they still kicked ass though. My dad was the "Ace" of the Canadian tribute "Fried Alive"
I LOVE how when Gene says "what does the Ace Frehley band wanna do next?" right away, Ace rolls into his own Rocket Ride and looks at the completly lost Gene... while Singer smiles :)) Wonderful moment!
Plus it was aledged Ace and Peter trying to derail the movement come now and the tattoos on his arm what the hell is wrong with you young age guys hope and prayer artists huh
@@corkystephan5073 What year was Kiss Farewell tour? March 11, 2000 - April 13, 2001 Kiss Farewell Tour/Period The 2000 farewell tour came four years after the original lineup had regrouped. The return of guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss, along with the band's iconic makeup, had made good box office, and their reunion album Psycho Circus, released in 1998, had done well critically and financially.Dec 2, 2023
+Jon Gene could never play, but he worked hard to become a great bass player. I love KISS, I just wish Gene would shut the fuck up. But his smart ass comment "What does the Ace Frehley band want to do next?"" is very enlightening. As in Ace was the only musical force that made KISS even slightly respectable. Ace's guitar, Peter's drumming (a MUCH under-appreciated drummer) - and Gene and Paul's voices.
@@haywoodyoudome Too rehearsed obviously. I think with Ace it is more of a power play. He can't stand playful Ace and calls him out like the bully he is.
@@BlackDiamond1967 You and I both know Ace is average at best. Would have been completely different if he would have progressed past 1979, but he didn't. Weren't you disappointed in 96 when he kept messin everything up. I was shocked he was so sluggish.
@@whataboutrob442 both you guys are acting stupid , was ace the most talented?... probably not but theirs been a lot of people to look up to him, not to mention the impersonator.... you may onow him as tommy Thayer, get over bitching at ace and just be glad you got to see the originals on one last tour , i am ... 96 was a really decent year
@@dkyelak 6 years late and all but I think the reason for that is that even though they tune down a half step, they still think of chord positions like they're still in regular tuning.
Ace was definitely clowning Gene after a couple songs, the way he flipped him off after She was hilarious. And his response was epic. Rocket Ride is one of the best throwaways KISS recorded.
To me it’s like Batman or something, Yeah other people may have adopted his persona but no one is Batman like Bruce Wayne, just like no ones the spaceman like Ace Frehley
Fuck that nappy ugly gluttonous heeb! Greedy serpent tongued asshole can stick his jewels right up there 👆 about a inch or so south of where they were squirted out of.🖕🏻 HAIL KING DIAMOND 🤘🏻👊🏻
Is it just my impression, or is Paul actually loving the fact that Ace is making a fool out of Gene? Notice how he smiles at Ace everytime Ace starts a song. Cool!
@@josefinaotalorapedraza9994 I believe he was saying that 'Did Paul like the fact that Ace made a well deserved fool out of Gene. At the end of what I believe I the song 'Watchin' You', Gene yells "So what song does the Ace Frehley band wanna' play next"???, and Ace started into his song 'Rocket Ride and Gene was lost on what to play, because Gene clearly couldn't remember how to play that song.
Vinnie, was a talented writer and composer. His playing was good, but overall, Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr are the best all around Musicians KISS has employed. I'm a huge Ace fan and credit him with my desire to play guitar. On guitar, Kulick blows them both away. St.John was a similar player to Vinnie. Vinnie could have been more, if he had been able to control his Ego.
but, but.. eric singer playing with ace frehley? when was that? I thought ace had been the first to leave after the reunion/psycho circus. Then, peter did.. But I guewss I'm wrong, can you help me on this one?
Francisco Aglairton Peter didn't renew his contract after the US leg of the Farewell Tour at the end of 2000. So they brought Eric in to play the dates in 2001 in Japan and Australia. Ace left shortly after that and Tommy Thayer came in. Then Peter came back in 2003 and left in 2004 when Eric returned.
One January day in 1973, Paul Frehley walked into an audition for a rock band wearing a red sneaker and an orange sneaker, carrying a cased Gibson Les Paul Standard! He plugged into his amp and defined the legendary Kiss sound and forged a rock and roll legacy!
Looks like Paul's mic was going out so they winged it, I'm guessing? Anyway, Paul was calling out songs too. Wasn't just Ace. But, Ace's look and response to Gene at the beginning of Rocket Ride is priceless.
I think it was Gene and Paul wanted to only do their songs in this jam. Ace pulled a fast one and said fuck we are doing she. Gene then then got pissed and said this shit too Ace.
As much as I love Peter, you cannot deny that Eric Singer is an incredible drummer!! This was a fun clip to watch. Nice to see them all having fun on stage.
@@jhay3966 I mean he never really knew the solos, he kinda improvised and bullshitted his way through solos, which is what I like about him. It’s not the same every time
At least Gene had the dignity to admit what we've all known all along: Ace IS the sound of KISS. Would have been badass if Ace had broke out the ole Rock Soldiers riff.
4:20 Gene totally pissed... Paul says to him What does the Ace Frehley band wanna do next? Gene repeats it out loud... 4:31 Problem, Gene Simmons? and that look though 4:40 Eric: this is gonna be fun
Great choice ACE for giving the sh*t back to Gene. After all Gene and Paul never played Rocket Ride and had no clue. That's why ACE calls out "G". Play in "G". hahahahahahahaha The egotistical bas**rd.
Just like the Tom Snyder show...Ace steals the show while Gene and Paul look like deer in the headlights. Paul: "how's this for a deep cut?!" *plays "Strutter"* Facepalm.
Eric's face is the best! For a moment he stopped being the drummer to become a fan lol. About Ace, what can I say? Great moment of my all time favorite trout player ever! Without him KISS is sad, period. This man rocks, love Ace 🖤🤟🏻♠️🔥🎶🎸
Paul got a little confused at the start, but then he just went "ok then" and started having fun (right when he said "Let's do Strutter") while Gene looked very pissed.
Isn't it so hilarious when Gene runs his mouth to Ace...then Ace fires up a classic KISS song that Gene has no idea how to play anymore. Truly a classic video!!!😎🍻
I've lost count of how many times I've seen the band but as a Kiss fan for 40+ years I must say that every member alive or dead has added to the unparalleled character and longevity of this band. Ace will always be my favourite as the epitome of what a rock star should be but god bless Gene & Paul for keeping the dream alive. Eric Singer and Tommy are both excellent musos and fit in perfectly. I took my daughter to see them on the last UK tour (the best I've seen) and she was instantly a fan. I hope the guys will still be going for years to come so I can take my granddaughter. This band bridges generations and long may they continue!
Gene is pissed, he always wants to control everything. ace played just as big of a part as Gene or anyone else did... Keep rocking Ace, Gene quit your crying 😂😂😂
Funny how Gene got pissed with Ace taking the limelight. And then insult to injury, Paul starts playing Mr. Speed and Gene forgets how to play it and is completely lost. Mr Simmons, Ego and arrogance can only take you so far!
to the bin hopefully ,,honestly hes the most revolting undeserving bloke in music,,he shouldve been a promoter of manager ,he looks like a rapist with those horrid leggings and his grinding pelvis ,makes me feel ill just glancing at the dork
Dave Mustaine had the best work for Gene and it wasn't dork. It was Peckerwood. To call Gene a DORK is a compliment cuz dork is a whale penis. Gene is just a peckerwood. hahahaha
@@twikirobot6897 So what, he played it once in 1976 when they recorded it. You act like he should remember everything hes ever played. Don't be such a douche bag.
New York Groove from Ace's '78 solo album. It was quite a hit then. The whole album is great, the best of the four and one of the best things ever bearing the Kiss logo on it.
Peter was out and Eric was in at this point! Funny stuff. The end was near.. very rare to see these guys go "off script". Gene seemed to really enjoy it. LOL.
haha i love how eric is so happy and cheerful while playin to rocket ride and then u see ace is so serious and mad. I love you ACE, Anomaly is gonna kick ass
gene has flubbed lyrics, entire songs, played out of tune, Paul has muffled/dead notes from playing over his head and under his legs, and they have the audacity to blame bad quality on Ace and Peter. Every single Kiss video i have seen, peter and ace play near perfect or ok, and honestly most of the fuckups come from Gene and Paul. Paul and Gene have terrible voices now, so if anyone has compromised Kiss' live performance integrity it has been Paul and Gene, actually.
Michael Keplinger "current"? Ace relearned all of them BEFORE the tour, DUMBass. Gene is a mediocre bassist at best, of course he has no idea of how easy it is to forget a guitar solo if you haven't played it in 15 years. Or he should know, because what happened when he attempted to play the songs he didn't play for 15 years? Oh that's right, he forgot. Hypocrite.
Reading goes a long way, you know? He never once in any way bashed Ace for forgetting the songs before the Reunion Tour. The only thing Gene ever complained about Ace when it comes to forgetting songs, was during the Farewell Tour.
Steven Hoefgen I'm a big fan of the one and only spaceman Ace Frehley, but dude I can tell somethin, Thayer can write his own songs and own solos.. sometimes lol
Tommy once had to dress as Ace BEFORE he was an official member. Ace was running late and "the show must go on!" Also, Tommy supposedly had to help Ace on relearning licks from songs he hadn't played in a few years but, I still like Ace better!
Ace took the reigns! He jammed through the dry spot. Gene and Paul you guys are awesome. But give credit where credit is due! you don't knock Ace for taking that and running with it. That is one of the most awesome performances I have ever seen. Good job Ace!
I just wish that he had communicated the Rocket Ride stoppage for Eric, the way he did it wasn't intuitive at all. At 04:55 he could've looked at Eric and done the descending notes variation, holding on to the last one the way the song ends on the record (not counting the separate drum fills and licks after that).
