Oh man I was like 14 and I was GLUED to the tube for this. Even then I remember thinking KISS still kicked ass.(and this was BEFORE Creatures) Now as an old dude I watch this, especially with the franKENstein remix. It kicks even more ass. People rack on this period of the band and on the band in general, but this is (more) visual proof that they did actually kick ass. Paul was on point too. Eric was a beast, Gene and Ace right there with them. Great performance.
I'm there! At 5:22 23! My friend Kevin Davis is behind the old guy with the brown jacket and I'm to his left with the blonde feathered hair! We got there about 7 A.m. with tickets, but it was still first to come first to get in! They did these songs twice, once without anyone making a noise and then again when we were allowed to be LOUD! Even though I wasn't thrilled with The Elder, I knew they would not tour this album, unless the "FILM" did well, which never happened, so........? It was a long day and I had to cut school, but I was not going to miss it! I'm glad I went with Keven Davis because he is now gone too! I feel like the last leaf on a tree! Anyway, it was cool for what it was! But, Motley Crue had already started their rise in Hollywood so I knew what the future of Metal was, plus Maiden, Scorpions, Preist with British Steele, and of course VAN HALEN!
From one 'Charter member" to another who hung in there, and watched this show with pride and excitement when it aired, I salute you! Feeling Eric's double kick drum, Loving Ace's 'fixed' Solos that should have been represented on the studio versions! Thank you!
@trome.I also did not jump ship at this time.! I was 18yrs old at a party with my friend Joe also 18 and just as hard-core as myself.! This party was Kicking Ass both tripping we left to get home to watch this the nite it aired.! My room stayed Wallpapered Kiss postor style well into the 90s.! Joe got married at 25 and his new wife didn't want that stuff up in their bedroom.! So he took 4 or 5 of his best postors framed them nicely and displayed them on the living and dining room walls.! Now Bitch you can see them when we eat at the dining room table or when we watch TV.! She should have just let him have his Kiss bedroom.!
I always have liked the elder cause it’s different ! I’ve always said if the elder had the production of creatures ! It could have been a different story as in a success in sales! Your work in this gives some insight on what could have been ! Odyssey and I are really heavier ! 👍 ⚡️space ace Ron⚡️
Thi was awesome. Real Live too. Im gonna assume Ace didnt rehearse, I notice they kept his volume real low . but he "performed" well. I love how you can actually hear Eric. Thats an added plus.
Thank you for your great work - this refurbished version is so powerful - I immediately feel on a time journey back into this part of KISStory. Even most KISS fans where irritated by The Elder album I always liked it for the variety, inspiration and the courage to go down other musical paths. 👏🤩🤟
Just fenominal amazing work you do to freshen up these recordings and bring them to life. I honestly can't get enough. Please continue. This one is icing on the cake for me because I love music from The Elder.
This is fantastic, Kenn. I'm a diehard Elder fan too, got the album on day one, anxiously read all the articles in 16 Magazine, etc. Even at a young age I understood that it was a different album and an oddball but I loved it and enjoyed it for what it was. I must've watched this Friday's performance hundreds of times over the years, so it's great to see an updated new take on it. Thanks for sharing.
I'm 60 now. Also had and bought 16 and all of them.! There was still alot of coverage in those mags for Elder era.! The magazines I have still are not complete anymore but the tote of pinup I have from those mags that went on and off my walls for decades are still with me.! Wish I could display them and show you.! I'd get bored sit on the floor and go thru them in little piles all around me. MY friend Mike went to Reunion tour in 96 with me both in makeup.! We would both go thru are stuff.! He still had all of his stuff too.! He passed away from Aids in 1999.! I miss him terribly bcos we were always 15 no matter how many years went by.! I miss ya Joe. I still have all my stuff and my room is still Kissed to the Max.!!
Same here.! Always excited.! I'm just as rabid as I was back at this time but from 1990 backward.! Still huge fan but when Eric Carr passed Eric Singer never made me feel like Ace Paul Gene Peter Eric Carr Vinnie Mark and Bruce did.! And Tommy.? Tommy who.! I tried saw the scabs 3 times.! Like I said from 1990 back rules for me.!!
Honestly, that guitar solo in A World Without Heroes is so beautiful. I was quite surprised that it was Paul. It is so tasteful, it could well have been by David Gilmour or Stephen Rothery
Definitely. I feel this applies to his solos in "Hold Me, Touch Me" and "Sure Know Something" as well. Being a great vocalist, Paul had a very good sense of melody and phrasing which was reflected in his solos.
Not sure what you are listening on, but everything has the same level. It is all mastered using the same limiting/compression. The exact same drum mix, bass, vocals, etc. The only thing that varies is the guitars tones a bit which may sound "louder" or "quieter" depending on what you are listening with. Glad you like it!
Wow Beautiful work Thank You So Much ! Can you do anything with Creatures Album ? And is there anyway you could do a version of the Crazy Nights Album with Keyboards Completely removed ? Or at least case secnario lowered in thd Mix with Erics Drum ALOT THICKER & DEEPER Like on Creatures ? And Genes Bass Up in the mix ? With Pauls vocals a little lower in the Mix ?
@@franKENstein620 Oh don't get me wrong your 100% correct. I mean very subtle enhancements like up the play speed just a lil not to much.Bring Genes Bass up just a lil in the mix ? And what is the difference between the original 1982 Creatures CD & The Remastered 1997 Creatures ? Once you answer this then I could tell ya what version I'd like to see you tweak of Creatures.
@@franKENstein620 And what's the chances of you tweaking Crazy Nights Album ? Also another thing I'd like to see you do to Crazy Nights take off some of the polish & add some GRIT ? And what about Hot In The Shade ? Remove keyboards up the Drums,Bass & Kulick & calm down Paul's Vocals a little ? Maybe demo vocals ? Grittier ?
Would you consider remastering Venom: Live at Hammersmith 1985? You’re genuinely the best at remastering/redoing concerts I’ve ever seen. Your Kiss - ABC In Concert 1974 video you released a few months ago is what got me into Kiss. Can’t wait to see what you upload next!
Great, classic video. \m/ From my era too as I started playing thrash right around '85. There are already a couple very good sounding and looking upscaled version of that show on YT. Thanks for the compliment, BTW...glad you are enjoying my stuff. Largo '79 is coming very soon!
Same for me. I bought The Elder as soon as it was released and loved it from the beginning. I have never understood the negative response. Then again, I'm a fan of Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, etc, so a concept album is not foreign to me. What is the difference between this video and the one uploaded a few weeks ago?
Question for the uploader: The W.O.W. version of "It's My Life" clearly features a massively cleaned up version of the original demo which appears on the new remaster of Creatures of the Night, however the "remastered" version sounds like shit. If Gene owns the song, doesn't he also have access to the same cleaned up version that Wendy sang over? I presume it's just an oversight but considering he produced Wendy's album, very poor form.
No, Eric plays them on the album and also live. You just can’t hear them very well in the mix. Everything you hear is what he was actually playing. I just enhanced the sound by blending samples triggered from his actual drums.
I'm watching your winter land show with the speakers way up right now. How the F do u only have 3.5k subs? Seems criminal cuz u do such a great job on everything. Kiss should have hired you to make them look and sound better.
Well Erics drums up front and center.! That's the first thing I noticed.! The overall clean up is easily identified to the die hards.! Which apparently your not or your hearing is off.! All good. Your still here.! Cheers.!
Thank fully we had documents of 3 live arrangements of the songs off the current album. More significant in the aftermath and as time moves on...a moment in time!
Everything but most of Paul's rhythm is right from the show and played live. Read the description to see what I did with the audio and why I used some of Paul's guitar from Alive! to create a true stereo mix.
As your sills seem to know no bounds can you do a FranKENsteins remix SPECIAL PLEASE for me take the solo from the wicked Lester version of love her all I can and add it into the dressed to kill version 🙏 many many thanks
