Michael Brandvold FINALLY... someone who actually knows and is communicating the announcement ACCURATELY. Thank you. ".... they sold THEIR SHARE..." Yes. Doc McGhee's company (McGhee Entertainment) was my client for nearly 6 years. My wife and I stopped in to see the Oct 2023 Nashville show, spent time with Doc and also spent time in their dressing room before the show. At that time, this deal was already in the works. Doc said nearly exactly what Pophouse released. It's only "their % stake" (Doc's words) that are impacted. Universal still carries the majority stake and will not release that stake. Appreciate you setting the record straight. This deal, the way it was written, allows for the "collaboration" that Gene Simmons referenced earlier this week. While it was an acquisition of sorts.. to me it's more an equity buy-in as opposed to a true "selling their catalog, etc." as nearly every media outlet is reporting. Shame on them. The ONLY point I'll make now is... Ace Frehley (unlike any other past member of Kiss) now has leverage through the deal agreed upon for a portion of this deal. Doc alluded to this and there are conversations that have been underway for weeks in early 2024 involving Frehley, his legal rep, Kiss et al (PS, GS) and Pophouse. Mainly centered the question of ownership surrounding his rights to his makeup design. Thayer used that design per Kiss for years yes. But Ace Frehley did not sell his entire rights away for said design. The contract in place up to Dec. 2, 2023, stipulated payments to Frehley for continued leasing of said design. Kiss now must consider an arrangement as they did not own 100% of his particular space ace character design.

Excellent. Well dissected and well clarified. Reading comprehension is a lost art. The $300 million was "according to an anonymous source", and yes, the wording on this deal seems quite different from the recent purchases of other artists' catalogs, etc. Silly to compare and pontificate on the value, which again, has NOT BEEN DISCLOSED officially.

I don’t know if this is a good analogy, but to me it would be like Jimmy Buffett (RIP) selling off his Margaritaville assets, but not able to sell off his back catalog because it’s owned and controlled by Universal. Universal has a vested interest in what Buffett, ABBA,KISS, and The Beach Boys are doing with possible musicals, biopics, documentaries, video games, commercials, so it makes sense to have a cordial relationship that benefits both sides in coming years.

Former KISS business manager Chris Lendt documents in his book KISS and Sell, that Gene attempted to develop the mobile “KISS World” back in the 70’s this model wasn’t very feasible back in those days and the concept folded, with that said does anyone believe or for that matter speculate, That Pophouse might be developing a modern “KISS World” theater in Las Vegas, modeled after the ABBA Voyage theater but with of course a KISS motif… I think this is plausible and if this “KISS theater” is to be developed which I believe with all intents and purposes that it will be; I definitely would fly to Vegas to see it! 🤟🔥

@HappyMachorino-bd8no 3 месяца назад
Michael, you wear a nice KISS T-shirt. Money went back to KISS. Now Pop House purchased all the merch licences. In the future, when I buy a KISS handbag e.g. Paul and Gene will still have a share? For the logo, likeness etc. They sold their IP. But when they are supposed to still have a say, then they most likely will have an income also with the merch further on. Because of the IP on the merch! And when Paul doesn't want a Starchild lipstick? e.g.. What can Pop House do? We don't know the contract. But do you believe that Paul and Gene get nothing from the merch? Please, help me to understand.🙏

The music rights component of this deal is the smallest portion of the potential (and risk) this investment represents. The key asset purchased here? It's the whole ball of was as KISS goes....it's the name, the likenesses and the brand itself. And the even bigger story? Gene and Paul are effectively out of the KISS business.

does NOT really make sense Kiss did this, so they need 300 million and sell all their rights or most of them??? only if they were BROKE you would think they would do something like this. I prefer to remember this band they way they were years ago. 70's/80s (even reunion) Instead of avatars they could easily do a hologram tour with 1970's re-creations and stage re-build replicas. that would be awesome and a new way forward.
