🚵‍♂️Day first of my Kissimmee Prairie Bike Tour. Taking the train to Kissimmee and riding 40 miles to Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area to camp at Lake Jackson free campsite. Kissimmee Prairie Preserve is known for its extensive prairies and wildlife, and it's a great location for outdoor activities such as hiking and biking, bird watching, and stargazing due to its designation as a Dark Sky Park.

I just got back from the trip. Kissimmee Prairie is the most remote area in Florida. Awesome gravel roads and lots of wildlife. Today I saw a Bobcat again as I was riding through the prairie.

The Kissimmee Prairie area is one of the most remote areas in Florida. Great place to experience true remoteness and see lots of wildlife up close.

Interesting video. Did you have problems with moquettes at night camping? I live in Orlando and the last couple days the mosquitos have been bad at night. I am out riding everyday with my recumbent trike. Enjoy your trip. Thanks for sharing.

This campsite was by the water. As soon as it got dark mosquitoes tried to eat me alive but luckily I was prepared. I had the spray and headed to my tent early.

Man I travel thru that Kissimmee station with Sunrail every few days! Never have taken Amtrak from there before as I use Orlando or Winter Haven instead depending on direction I am traveling. Another great vlog...safe travels my friend. Hopefully we cross paths on the train someday.

there is a nesting pair of bald eagles in Winter Garden at teh corner of Plant St and the 429, they come back every year.. I"m sure you know about it. It's only 1/4 mile from the West Orange Trail so easy to get to via bike.

Bald Eagles have been doing great since the 1970s-80s nearly going instinct. We have many nesting Bald Eagle's here in Jacksonville too.

Very interesting. I biked Florida every winter 20 years ago and am looking to get back in it. I am following along with great interest in possibly doing the same as you. Thanks for posting. I did not know of this particular route but used to do day rides on various trails.

We got stuck in Jacksonville for 2 hours on the way home. The train just sat on the tracks. I did not realize Kissimmee had a station until we got on the train. I think we would use that station next time. It took too long to get to the Orlando station. Nice trail! Stay safe riding on farm roads! Caracara bird is interesting. I have never seen one of those. Looks like you had a lot of fun!

That happens sometimes when the train has to wait after the freight train to pass by but usually not that long. Lately I've been lucky with Amtrak no wait time. Orlando has actually three stations Winter Park, Orlando and Kissimmee. I had a lot of fun at Kissimmee Prairie, lots of wildlife and nice gravel roads.

Frigatebird is my favorite and Crested Caracara is my favorite raptor. It's fun to head out to another adventure 😁

That looks like a pretty desolate ride you are doing to get to Sebring. I’ve got to start camping again so I can get away from it all. Maybe longer rides during the day will make me sleep through the night on the ground? Can’t wait to see the rest of this route you’re taking.

I definitely sleep better in my tent after long riding. Kissimmee Prairie is one of the most remote areas in Florida. Great place to ride and see lots of wildlife.

Hey there Thomas! It's nice to see that Amtrak seems to have changed their policy towards bicycles. Last time we checked, they wanted them in bike boxes, but it looks like you were able to just load yours up. We haven't explored this part of Florida yet, so thanks for sharing. ~Ron & Petra

I've been using Amtrak since January 2020 and they haven't ever asked to box it. They just put it into the luggage car for $20 per ride. Uploading the next video soon. Kissimmee prairie is such a great area to ride, lots of gravel roads.

@@FollowThomas gotcha! yeah it's been several years since we looked at Amtrak so it appears things have changed since then. We were looking at taking the Train to DC and then cycling back, but when we learned that our bikes had to be boxed and blah blah we quickly forgot about that trip.

I live right next door to downtown kissimmee, in Campbell. I just ordered a bike, and I'm dying to try out some trails. My sister lives close to St.Cloud, so it was nice to see this trail. Thanks for posting! Do you have a map of your trip?

There is a direct bike trail to St. Cloud but after that was just a road ride till Three Lakes WMA. This is my first day route link ridewithgps.com/trips/140504441
