Amazing tips, I felt so lost just trying to move a thing around in Blender and not understanding what I was doing, thanks a million, now I feel like I can try to kitbash too.
Interesting video! Really cool. Question; I downloaded some file from Thingverse to test with and each time I try to select linked the entire miniature is selected not just the piece I selected. Did you have to do anything to the files before hand? Edit: tried with a few more files and got parts of it to eventually work. This workflow must be based on something particular the sculptor does for his files beforehand.
Make sure you go into "Edit" mode. yes/no. A sculptor usually creates a model in "parts' like a head, or hat. Then they assemble the model, usually a sculptor will the "merge" the parts into a single model, so you can't easily select the "sub-meshes". Sometimes though a sculptor will use a single object and create the entire model, but this is so much harder, not sure how many actually do this. Also they would never be able to re-use sub-meshes. Like weapons/gear/etc. So most I think just merge the mesh, which you cannot then edit. This keeps users from stealing parts of a model, and also makes it harder to kit-bash, which is why I love when I find a sculptor who doesn't.
