Nice review Adam, just picked this kit up today and am very impressed with the kit on initial inspection, certainly better than the Academy offering that I built years ago. The kits that are coming out these days are just incredible. Looking forward to more videos from you mate, cheers. 👍
The instructions for these kits is so much better than Dragon. It's not even in the same league. The one thing I absolutely hate about Dragon kits is how they cram everything together on the same page with as few breakout instructions as possible. And when it's a 3-in-1 multi-kit, like the Tiger 6600 for example. it's even more complicated and confusing.
I really like the detailed instructions. It looks like you will need them with this detailed kit if you have not built many Tigers. It seems that they are trying to get it right. This seems like a serious kit. Thanks for another great review.
+Troy Fullmer I thought the exact same thing and then I went back and watched the after action video. I was honest, and called out what was wrong. Perhaps they didn't like me pointing out the inaccuracies. But, yeah, I fully endorsed the kit, it's worth the money. Companies are strange.
Very Nice Review as always, I have it on order, working on the DAK now, replaced the kit barrel with a RB metal one. converting it to a S.PzAbt. 502 Fall 1942, a few mods, but I have great reference books. about 20 in all. will have travel tracks on this one. I am with you , I really like the kit tracks in the DAK, I cannot wait till the release of the Dragon's DAK, I have 6286but it is still factory sealed, and it will stay that way. LOL. keep up the great videos.
Awesome review Adam.....I don't know too much about Tigers so this one is nice to see and with that interior a great starting point for a super detailed kit. If you're not happy with those smoke ejectors, get a set of the Modelkasten Stug III detail parts, if you can get it at a decent price, it includes the tubes which are better scaled.
very cool kit, and review, wonder why no company makes a complete drivers vision port, with the binocular, I've seen it on a SS tiger, think it's cool, but not made in any of the tank kits, 1/35 scale and larger kits?. I've tried to scratch out one for my Academy build. but now I have to get one of these kits now, I think my Academy build, just became a shelf queen. ugh. again cool review Adam.
you have some routine with tiger tank reviews now :) i can totally base my knowledge about these kits on your unboxing videos, don´t have to do that myself actually! massive kit that will keep you busy for a long time, but when it gets to painting the interior...oh dear :) i hate painting interior. i like that they fixed the errors of the DAK model.
+Hamilkar Barkas Yeah the painting man, I hear you. I started building the turret for this last night, couldn't help myself. Then I started thinking about how even just the two tones of base paint on the interior walls is a pain and I lost a little excitement. Interiors are an amazing idea, but I have no idea how to paint build/paint and build. Everything glues wrong or gets put on hold.
indeed, it is very exhausting to get the interior right. question is, how do you make it displayable? with regard to reviews, i thought of filming one today, but could not really decide which i should do. there is nothing in my stash that is worth a look apparently.
Hamilkar Barkas I feel the same way sometimes. I recorded a few even, for Mini-art and some older Dragon kits and I cant be bothered to edit or upload them.
Adam Mann i´m more excited about the building review anyway :) right now the first part is 32 minutes long, a few more things will be added until i call it done. maybe i get there tomorrow and can release the first part in the course of the next week. but an inbox review will be filmed aswell tomorrow, maybe something small like figures or accessoires.
Thanx for sharing. It does look like a very good start for a complete interrior Tiger and a very decent representation straight from the box. I hope you come up with something to display everything when built. Ever tried a cutaway? Ill try it myself one day but I have not seen many attempts here on youtube, so I have no idea where to start.
Nice review, as usual, Adam. I was disappointed by the decals. All black numbers. Not much for variety. I guess builders will just use aftermarket or whatnot. Maybe Santa will leave me some cash to buy one this holiday? I know I will build it someday.
+Russell Gosselin Thanks Russell, It's still not as expensive as new Dragon Tiger models, so it should be obtainable. The decals are meant to represent just the famous 503 Tigers that used that turret bin, so I think that's why they did that. I have way too many early Tiger decals myself, but not everyone does I'm assuming.
Hey! Very nice review indeed! I have just ordered my version, but seeing the video only now I got worried about the errors ... Did I make a mistake by ordering it? It looks spectacular (and it is my first Tiger), but I got a bit anxious after seeing this ...
+Ludwig Beck It's not a mistake. If there are errors they can be corrected with a little kit bashing or scratch building, or just ignore them because the goods far outway the bads in this one.
+Adam Mann Thank you very much for a rapid reply! I was just looking at the thread you linked below, and I have to say that build log is outstanding indeed. I will surely enjoy my build, but I was a bit worried for a second there.
+Chin Pow I've started on the gun and breach myself, but if you're really interested since it might take me a while check out this thread on Track-link www.track-link.com/forums/site_blogs/26057
Chin Pow Everything has it's issues I guess. Question is how nice of a result can it get. It's miles and miles better than the old Academy, but not perfect.
Hi Adam. Hope all's good under YOUR hood! Waaayhaaaay!!! .. A Rye Field Early Tiger .... WITH AN INTERIOR!!! Who'd have guessed it, eh? .... Yeah, right!! Another knockout box review from da House of Mann. Great review, Adam. It's almost like you've got the ACTUAL sprues in your hot l'ill hand, but with one of THE internet Tiger authorities (and I use the term exceedingly appropriately!) to walk and talk you through the sprues.Yes, really! Glad I DIDN'T rush at Rye's DAK one tho, because they seem to have fixed SOME of your "incessant whining" (lol) issues on that, plus absolutely pi$$ed all over the only other offering with interior - the errrmmmm... what can I say? .... the Academy one. I really, really .... REALLY..... wanted a Tiger with a stuffed-full of detail interior..... so I'm ashamed to admit it, but , yes.... I'm afraid I DID! Guess what's just moved to the very top of my Santa's list right NOW, though!! 😜 Can't wait for the full video build postings (Notice PLURAL!) Mark
Adam do you think it would be possible to drill holes all the way through the track links on this RFM kit and join them with brass pins and would it be worth the time and effort to do so
