Kitbash | Emperors Children Warband | Warhammer Horus Heresy 40k and Kill Team

In this video, I am going to show you how I converted a Emperors Children kill team using bits from the chaos space marine and 30k emperors children range, along with numerous other bits and pieces from other games workshop kits.
I have always loved the idea of a fully converted Emperors Children army based on the Siege of Terra, or shortly after during the Scouring, but have found the prospect of doing a fully converted army a bit daunting. One of my friends though is currently putting together a custom demon-world based skirmish game though so I figured this would be the perfect time to get a small war band of the fallen third legion together!
Bits Used for Champion:
Legs - Chaos Space Marine
Torso - Untamed Beasts
Head - Emperors Children Upgrade Kit
Left Arm - Tentacle from 3rd edition Chaos Upgrade Sprue
Right Arm - Chaos Space Marine
Right Hand/Weapon - Servrin Loth Honor Squad

Ugh yeah... I don't want to think about how much this squad actually cost me. Over $100 was both a estimate, and a form of self-deception. I have been picking up random EC bits and pieces from Egghead miniatures over the past 2 years though so at least the total cost was spread out over a little while. Still brutal tough.

@@AmnioticlyTanked For some of the forgeworld bodies & heads something similar could be achieved with the use of infiltrator heads w/ green stuff tubing in the center grille on like devastator torsos..?

These are some excellent kitbashes. The icon bearer is my favorite, adding the little rivets to the ribbons was a great touch.

These look great! As someone who's recently fallen in love with the Emperor's Children its fantastic to see some lovely kitbashes! Shame we wont be getting new 40k Emperor's Children stuff until late 10th edition... Still, amazing job with these guys! Makes me want to start a kill team of my own now!

Appreciate it! I have always had a soft spot for the IIIrd legion but don't love the single 40k upgrade kit we get for them. Hopefully with the World Eaters getting some love soon it shows that GW is committed to getting out a codex and full model line for each of the god-specific legions in 40k, but I fear you might be right that is will not be for some time. I highly suggest you try doing a kill team of your own though! I had been putting off doing some EC conversions for the longest time as I didn't want to do a full army of converted dudes, but I found that a KT was the perfect size to have some fun and not get bored.

@@AmnioticlyTanked I’ll most likely start a kill team with some messed up Noise Marines, since I like the idea of a group of depraved marines adventuring on to find new pleasures. Speaking of pleasures, I’m excited to see you paint up your own batch of the 3rd legion, since most EC paint jobs are either early Heresy or well into 40K.

Ugh I feel you. Its an expensive hobby and it has its claws deep into me. I am sure there are many other obsessions I could have that would be cheaper. What army are you thinking about doing for 30k?

@@professorkhepri hmm thats a tough one. My first criteria for picking would be if I could think of any sick conversions that got me excited and then just roll with that. So any kit bashes or conversions you would want to do for any of those 4?

@@AmnioticlyTanked I’ve been eying a third party praetor I was thinking of giving a hammer or a chain spear, and the newer beaky marines definitely have a good amount of poses for big hammers/chain spears so I think that narrows it down to two- which should help allot, thank you!

@@AmnioticlyTanked I personally think you have struck the perfect balance between pre traitor and post 30k full on slaaneshi tainted! AND! You've also balanced using super old, not so old, and new parts. Looks like you picked some of the best bits for both! I really like what you've done with the tentacle arm on the sarge. I've always loved that arm but always struggled to imagine how to use it effectively, but now you have shown me the way! I'd love to see what you can do if you were to make some EC bikes or jump infantry! I have a whole bunch of the old metal Raptor mini's. And I have an vision of using their torso's and potentially a chopped and changed version of their legs, to make some really gnarly looking EC bikers! Sadly I think I'm going to have to sell the Raptors though.

I really want to do a kill team squad or something for the Children - I'm thinking about having them be a warband that's obsessed with the glory days of the Legion - Trying to emulate the martial perfection they seem to remember.

Slaves to Darkness was an excellent book. People don’t appreciate how it was one of the first steps in settling the lore after Rogue Trader (which was a essentially a rough draft).

Great conversions man. I would say the video a week is great, but don't let it tax you too much. You post really high quality videos, so they would be worth the wait. Also Ungors you say... I have a box that I used the heads and some bits for an imperial guard abhuman kill team, I think I may have to steal that exposed torso idea.

I really appreciate that. I think going forward I am going to try to relax my posting schedule and just put content out when I am happy with what I have to share. And please steal away. Its a conversion that I dont think many people will actually see as its pretty minor, but it makes me happy that I was able to pull it off. And perhaps it will be more eye catching once painted.

I really wish we could get a new version of that Chaos mutations sprue you showed off a bit from on the champion, I see them go up for sale every once in a while, but I think it would be nice to get some more mutated bits. The Annointed bits in the Killteam Legionaries box are nice, but I want more. That aside though, I see Slaanesh has come to try to tempt me away from Khorne again I see, I shall not give in this time! In all seriousness though, lovely conversions on these guys.

I find it hard to convert forgeworld stuff without feeling my wallet hurt. Luckly the 3D printer allows me to subsidise most of the parts which would usually break the bank. All that said, I do enjoy your unique little warpborn monstrosities. The "conversion commission" stuff to dodge the sponsorships is also super weird, not because I disagree with the approach, but because I tried to do the very same thing with a bunch of creators a few years ago. Almost everyone choose to not take my money to do a dream project of theirs, which was odd to say the least.

Bro don’t have that mentality about raid shadow legends. You’ll just be suffering for it for very little benefit. At this point it’s just the norm to take sponsors and people have developed their understanding enough to understand it’s you getting your paper to fund us content as opposed to “selling out.” ESP for a creator of your size. Everyone will actually support you for it cuz they’ll know it supports you buying more kits to bash, etc. Anyways nice work looking forward to the painted version of these. Maybe something with night lords in the future? ❤
