Excellent explanation. I really apprecciate your effort into making these tutorials. Most people don't realize how time consuming is to make a few minutes edited video explanation. All the BEST for you Alex.

Waauw! I decided to go kite surfing last week and checking youtube since, this video explains "the core" so clearly, i want to gather as many info as possible before i actually go and start my lessons, i think theory is as important than good and safe practice before i go out on the water thank you so much and keep up this magnificent videos.

I have been flying 2 line kits for years. I have a 4 line kite now, but need lines and a bar/ handles. I have been watching videos about trimming for along time. Your video was one of the best I have seen. Even though I knew what you were talking about, it was great to see your video too. Thanks .....

I love the effort you put into the making of these videos. I have been kiting since flexifoil stacker days in the late 90's and have always wished for such comprehensive videos to show people entering the sport. Many thanks!

1:54 This is particularly problematic for people coming from a windsurfing background. This is because experienced windsurfers reflexively hold onto the boom (especially with the hand closest to the mast) when a crash is imminent. This is because, otherwise they stand a good chance of getting whacked by the boom or mast. Better to keep it in a known position relative to the body. However, in kitesurfing, you are likely to be much better off completely letting go of the bar. The kite is almost guaranteed to fly better without your input. With a bit of luck it will climb all by itself to the apex. Worst case, it will dive down and hit the water. But only with moderate force. Gripping the bar greatly increases your chances of tomahawking it into the water or looping it first then tomahawking. I really wish someone had explained this to me when I was learning. IT IS OK TO LET GO OF THE BAR !

i can change the depower range on the bar when i change the depower rope, should I just give it as much range as possible (within some limits of course) so I can access the full range on the bar instead of sometimes havung to land the kite to change the connection knots?

I just wish my instructor had been as clear and concise as these videos. Unfortunately, I had to learnt it myself after backstalling my kites many times.

Same here, I used to set my kite for power is light winds, the kite would back stall into the center of the wind window then RIP down wind taking me with it. I learned the hard way I do appreciate these tutorials! Very clearly explained.

I'm taking lessons (first timer) in 2 weeks. I'm thankful for these videos (and many on youtube) just in case I have an instructor that doesn't touch on a given point, or if a situation were to arise. At least there will be less theory discussion and for me, more hands on, even with a trainer kite.

Did the light wind 3rd knot mistake today. Put it 9n max power and was wondering why the kite was stalling and not pulling at all, why normally the knot gives it extta pull.

How to know which kite surf waist size to use? I live in a place where I can only buy it online, I am a 5.7 feet and weigh 132, wide hips but slim waist. Am I an small or medium? I use medium pants but small shirts, thank you
@kitesurfcollege
@kitesurfcollege 5 лет назад
Hello Nuunu. Harnesses are very adjustable, so you could use either. I'd guess that small would be better overall. Good luck.

Hi, firsty, I have to say - your videos are great! I have one question regarding trimming the kite when launching. I have 15m naish fly and I am trying to launch it in 6knots (gusts up to 15kt). My bar (also naish - the base one) has a below the bar trim, and when I’m connecting the lines I always have my trim fully extended, meaning full power. So my question is, when I am ready to launch should I shorten the trim a bit? What do you recommend?
@kitesurfcollege
@kitesurfcollege 3 года назад
Yes shorten the trim, especially in light wind otherwise you will create extra drag and slow the kite. When you push the bar out your steering lines should bow.
