What makes it 'baritone? Baritone is an instrument that is second lowest in pitch in its family. Or a male singing voice between tenor and bass. Therefore, if you wanna lower the pitch of a stringed instrument (in this case a guitar) you just lower the tuning. So basically this is just a Tele style guitar tuned differently......yeah?
Yes and no, this is tuned to a B standard tuning. But to accommodate this the scale length has to be increased to keep the strings tight without having to resort to a .016 gauge set. Most baritone guitars have a 27-28" scale length compared to a 24.75-25.5" scale length on most guitars and 30-34" scale length on most basses.
