Kitten care part two: kittens at home 

*me casually taking books worth of notes cause i'm an anxious future cat owner who's scared of hurting the cat*

Gonna get a kitten soon, im gathering as much info as possible to make sure it has a happy life!

I tried to introduce my kitten to one room at first. She just meowed her head off so I opened the door and she came out and joined my Dad and myself in the living area where we were having dinner. She didn't seem at all intimidated by exploring the house. She was just upset when she couldn't see us.

Kovu was seperated into the living room with just a tiny slit in the moving doors. It took exactly 5 minutes for him to be bold enough to pester my older cat Kiara who was at the other side, too big to get her trough but big enough for Kovu. So, yeah... ;)

We found a kitten who was meowing by itself for 3 days. We waited for the mom to come back but never did. We finally got her and she meows all night. She is very friendly and lets us pet her but I think she gets nervous since she hides under the couch.

This is going to be the fourth kitten i adopt and raise and i am still nervous about bringing the little girl home. I want to make sure i do the best i can for every pet i bring home

How long would you say is acceptable to leave a kitten? I was thinking of getting a kitten whilst at uni for companionship as I will be moving away from home so I wanted a companion.

I'm curious, is a walk-in closet okay for a the kitten's safe space? I have to clear it up more, but right now with some things it's probably 4x3. When cleaned out there's gonna be a box covering a hole and a shelf right beside that so they can get higher. They'll have roughly... 6x4 space? I would happily put them in my room once they're properly acclimated, but my grandfather hates the idea of an indoor cat and litter boxes, so my closet is the most out of the way space I can think of, with the extra benefit of letting them get used to my room first before the places my grandpa is. I'd like to know if it's alright so that if not I can maybe add more space somehow, maybe through shelves, or work on making my room a better option (with the litter box still in the closet)

My daughter wants a cat and my aunt from Portugal promised her one. I am a bit worried as I am more of a dog person. We have 2 small dogs at home. I had a cat when I was young, a siamese cat. He was the most perfect cat in the world. He was an indoor cat. I am afraid to let cats stray, as they do in Portugal, as he or she may never come back... but as my dogs are often in the garden and with 2 children I'm not sure its possible to keep it indoors. What advice can you give me?

Hello, I've got a kitten for 3 days now, and he hissed the whole first day. the second one he hissed only once. I'm trying to reduce his anxiety level but is it really the anxiety that made him hiss or was it a bad habit from his mum. IDK his mum, a woman gave him to us, her cat gave birth and she didn't know what to do with the kitten. I took him right away to the vet for the vaccines (he's 1,2 Kg) and to check on him and he hissed at the vet XD she said that it was probably a bad habit.

I'm getting a cat for the first time, and I'm SO excited! It has to be a Siamese because my brother is somewhat allergic to cats, and we found out that Siamese cats are hypoallergenic. However, my parents want to declaw the cat. I've told them multiple times that it's bad for the cat's health and that a scratching post would be great for it, but they won't listen. I don't know what to do. It's either going to be declawed and be an inside cat, or be an outside cat with claws. I really want to bond and BE with my cat, so I would love for it to be inside. They told me "You wouldn't want your cat scratching you anyways" and I pointed out the fact that my dog has bitten me before and I didn't decide to rip her teeth out because of it, so why should we do that to the cat? I don't know what to do, I really hope they realize that declawing a cat won't help. I really want a cat, and this is my only chance! I hope it doesn't come down to declawing it.

8 Weeks is way to young to separate a Kitten from its mother. It should be over 12 weeks old.
