The descriptions are on hold- It's been noted that some people skip the review entirely and just read the paragraph. After a certain point, descriptions will be written up, but it's just one less thing to do when throwing this all together. Have you seen how many vids are coming out this week? -TDoodle
Where can you get these? Actually would be curious where are the best places to find this and some of the others you have tested...might be the perfect edtc (Every Day Tractor Carry) farm knife....:)
Another great video. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into delivering high quality real world use reviews of gears and for sharing your hobbies with us. Take care and stay safe.
Kizlar are big in Australia, a lot of soldiers and hunters use the knife and apparently there are up there with the best. Some of the torture tests on Kizlar knives are unbelievable and they still hold an amazing edge. Nutnfancy have a look at the Pheonix 2 knife I think you will like it a lot.
The form of the knife and the dimensions are very close/similar to the caucasian shepherds knives - here in Bulgaria we have and use a lot of Kизляр knives and old knives from USSR - so this knife lines are well proven for hunting/backpacking and camping ... "STREH" / "СТРЕХ"
Hey Nutn, Always good to see a knife review ore outdoor adventure from your hand. Whether its one a year or one hundred. Stay cool, relax and don’t let it grab ya God’s blessings to you and your family and peace to ya all, greetings from the Netherlands!
Good to see the mora roll in as a comparable option. The bushcraft triflex is great for the money, been using one for a while now. The Sterkh looks to be a solid blade with its factory sheath. Like you mentioned before you can usually tell within 5 seconds if you're going to like the blade or not. I was drawn to it by the thumbnail image : ) Great job as always brother
That knife is sick, Keep up the sweet and informative videos. If I ever come into alot of money im gonna spend a month watching your vids before hitting the stores.
Really enjoyed this vid.I'm going down to my local knife dealer manana and pick up that cold steel soldier knife you mentioned your comps. Keep up all the great work! You have a huge fan base here in Chandler,Az.
In Russia these knives are very cheap (around 60 USD) and are known to be of a bad quality. It is like a lottery - u win or u lose. Your Kizlyar can be 52 HRC or 60 HRC even if the model u choose is declared to have 57-58 HRC. The control of heat-treating process depends on the main engineer hangover. Sorry guys for breaking your illusions.
"It's almost like the people who put this knife together know what it's like to use a knife in the snow." ...and this is exactly why I like Russian gear. It's simple to operate, designed with bad weather in mind, and tough as hell. For outdoor and tactical equipment, that's a golden recipe. Great review; this one's going straight to the top of my "must haves" list.
Yes, in Russia they cost on the average - on 1400 rbl. 45 USD the marks made of steel 65х13 and 2700 rbl. 87 USD from Х12МФ (D2) Excellent, you will not break (not killed) knife. Да в России они стоят в среднем - по 1400 руб.= 45 USD изготовленные из стали марки 65х13 и 2700 руб. 87 USD из Х12МФ (D2) отличный не убиваемый нож.
Nutn you've alway done a great job with all your reviews despite what others may say. I hope everything is okay because even though this was a great review I felt like there's a new calm or quietness with you. Keep up the great work and know that we all truly grateful for TNP.
Like the knife vids but LOVE the adventure vids. More adventures please, they are very inspiring to me. Everytime I watch one, I have to get out and do one of my own - even if it's by myself. Thank you!
Thanks for showing another camp/soldier blade. I'm still in love with my Cold Steel SRK. Went through another season of camping and hiking with flying colors.
Great video, essential info on the knife and it's competitors. I picked out two knifes! Great scenery and production work. Don't let the haters get you down brother, there are a lot of us that are glad you are back. PS; you are right about the description paragraph. I have to admit that on some longer videos I have resorted to that tactic. Don't hold it against me though. Peace.
I never tire of hearing Nut'ns "Competitive Offerings" section. There's something you just don't get anywhere else. Magazines? No way. Those writers would crap a brick if anything came into the photo frame without the sponsor's logo on it. Great job, guys.
The five minutes it would take to add a description would be well worth it, as this is an important part of your fine reviews. Keep rockin', and thanks for the good times.
I love that this knife i hard to get... if you want it, you can find it. but not everyone else is going to be rolling around with one. it's a lame reason to buy a knife i know... but it's something i like when i can get it
Awesome review sir! I was not expecting you to roll in the SRK though. That was the first knife you got me to buy, and just wasn't expecting the connection!
I agree. If we have to sacrifice descriptions for more reviews I'm all for it. Plus Nutnfancy spends a ton of time editing the vids to make them great and doesn't need to by retyping what he says on video.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if the SOG NW Ranger came with the same type sheath that the ColdSteel SRK does, it would be perfect. I hope SOG will eventually get the memo and make it the true unstoppable seller it should be!! Back on topic though, this is a beautiful Russian made knife that seems to be on top of it's game. THANKS NUTN for producing another great knife review!!
Kizlyar appeared from nowhere couple years ago and have gotten into competion succesfully. It has become pretty popular, most likely due to good quality/price ratio. I'm looking forward S1 review. Had it about 12 years now. Very nice knife, very light, sharp and keeps edge pretty well.
Awesome review, like always! Do you plan to do any reviews on Katz knives? I have looked at a few lately and they look like very high quality knives. Both the Lion King and Lion Cub models look like good solid knives, I would sure be interested to see your review on them!
Dude, I got myself a SRK there a few weeks ago and loved it so much, I got a Fallkniven S1 and I love that knife even more. Id probably get this blade but I'd like a thicker blade like the S1 and SRK :)
About the Mora: MoS is releasing a new version of the Bushcraft called Bushcraft Black since it has a "blackened" blade. Comes a bit thicker at 3.2 mm though, with a carbon-steel blade. I'll buy that one and a Kizlyar Enot for Xmas! Ever thought of making your own TV-show?
Good looking knife, but for a tag of $120 I can get two BK-2 companions. Love the BK-2, big, thick knife that takes a good edge, easy to sharpen, high carbon steel with the Ka-bar coating. Hasn't rusted yet and went through some 3-4 inch trees like they were butter. Its heavy, but like Nutn says, the return I get from the knife out weighs the weight.
I came to know Kizlyar when I saw their military Phoenix 2 fixed blade. Awesome beast. Watched a guy in Germany absolutely beat on that thing in a punishing torture test, one of the hardest I've seen, and it performed great. Personally, I love it when you get up in the mountains and you show testing the gear like this. How much more realistic can it get? When I was in the market for for a mid-size knife, I completely forgot about this option, to my chagrin. Ended up with an ESEE-6. Eh.
Lookin' like a nice knife, although I would prefer some kind of finger choil (sp?). I'm in the market for a medium sized camp knife for the missus so this vid showed up just in time. Thanks!
Also, there is this thing; the stuff that is meant to be sold overseas usually is of a better quality. So you may run into a situation where you'll have two knives of the same model, but of a VERY different quality....based on a place where you have purchased them.
OMG I SAW A BUCK 650 NIGHTHAWK!!!!! I have one and love it, and I have been hopeing to see you take a look at it for a long time.... and yes thanks to you now I really want a sterkh -_-
I'd say all mass production Russian knives are like that - the really good ones are custom or semi-custom made. You can take "Kizlyar" or "Zlatoust" or "Noks" or "Okskie knives" and it can be an excellent knife or a garbage. I've worked for the Kizlyar dealer in my country and have sold a lot of these knives and speaking the truth we have only one with a minor problem, but i don't think many of them have seen a real hard use. They are expensive and the hunters buy them mainly to show them.
Yeah the descriptions are nice but videos are worth a million words. So skipping a lengthy description to get out more videos is a good way to go about it. Let your dad know. You as well if you write any of them. (TDoodle)
