Spot on with your review Brendon. I totally agree. The first time listening to it, I let it play straight though with no hesitation whatsoever. This is a much more polished album than the first. KK's solos are also nothing short of incredible.

I bought the Sermons of the Sinner album, signed by K.K. Downing. Also got the CD. I also bought The Sinner Rides Again in the ink spot version limited to 500 worldwide. I love them both and have to say the second album has a more thorough sound throughout. Keep them coming out. I want it all. 😎 🤘 🎸 🎤 🎶

Great review! I agree on all you said sir... This is just a Killer album from start to end! So much better than their first! And the production on this.... wow!! And i am happy that KK wrote all the songs by himself (except for two) He is just one of the best songwriters of all time in the genre!!! As a lifelong judas Priest fan (since early 80's), it is clear were all those calssic Judas riffs came from! Every song is strong!! The opening track alone, "Sons Of The Sentinel" is worth the price of admission!!!

Ian Hill the Bass player is the only member from 1969.
@BrendonSnyder
@BrendonSnyder 9 месяцев назад
Yes, but he’s still not the original bassist. The first bassist was Brian Stapenhill. He was part of the line up that first formed the band with vocalist Al Atkins.
@jimmycampbell78
@jimmycampbell78 9 месяцев назад
Brendon is correct. None of the classic Judas Priest line up were actually original founding members of the band. Remarkable, really. I cannot think of too many other bands where that is the case.
@jimmycampbell78
@jimmycampbell78 9 месяцев назад
If you are interested in the timeline, the founding members of Priest recorded a two song demo in 1969 which went nowhere and they split up. Later in 1969, Al Atkins then found a band called Freight which did not have a singer. The members of Freight were KK Downing, Ian Hill and John Ellis. Al Atkins joined them and instead of Freight they took the Judas Priest name, which became the second incarnation of Priest in 1969.
@bigdavekilbride9972
@bigdavekilbride9972 9 месяцев назад
Yes i did know that but I was just going on who has been on all the priest albums and that's ian Hill to be honest not many people care about people who were in a band before a record came out .
@jimmycampbell78
@jimmycampbell78 9 месяцев назад
@@JIF882 I think he misspoke later in the video but he was correct about who founded the band. The founder members were Al Atkins, Brian Stapenhill, John Perry and John Partridge on drums. Ernest Chataway and Fred Woolley also came in as replacements before Atkins joined with Freight.

I am sick and tired of stupid people who bang on about Ripper Owns not being Rob Halford. The truth is that Rob Halford isn't Rob Halford anymore. Yes, the pre-Painkiller Rob Halford is untouchable and is the greatest of all rock vocalists but Tim Ripper Owens is better than the present "Rob Halford". The shame is that Rob Halford still has an excellent voice in the mid to lower range and if he only sang the post KK albums, he would not disappoint so much.
@krujones

I really wanted to like KK's Priest but to be perfectly honest it felt like a 2nd rate Judas Priest. I'd much rather listen to Firepower
@BrendonSnyder
@BrendonSnyder 9 месяцев назад
Personally I feel the two KK’s Priest albums are better than the two Judas Priest albums with Richie Faulkner. This is no slight to him but i felt those albums were run of the mill in terms of what Judas Priest has done.
@krujones
@krujones 9 месяцев назад
@@BrendonSnyder wow definitely agree to disagree. I love Richie and what he's brought even if I do wish KK had come back. I think part of it is I don't care much for Ripper but you hold him in much higher regard. I just look at him and think "not Rob Halford" 😄

The problem with the current Judas Priest is that the dual lead guitars are gone. Faulkner is great, but Sneap is just a rhythm guitarist who doesn't play the dual leads and harmonized leads.

Better than the first album for sure. Regardless, I can't believe how f'n generic and melodically uninteresting this band still is. But, of course I love K.K., so I'm glad so many people seem to be enjoying this.
@BrendonSnyder
@BrendonSnyder 9 месяцев назад
It sounds like what I would expect it to sound like and what I want it to sound like which is Judas Priest circa the Ripper era. That’s hardly what I call generic in my book. If it’s not your cup of tea that’s cool, but I’ve got a big smile on my face. 😬

I think it's a better album from the construction of the songs through to the performances and recording but, lyrically, I still think they missed the mark on this one. The first one was overtly trying to reproduce Metal-Anthems and came out a bit cheesy. This new one tries to hard to just be a menacing, heavy, Metal-themed album and the satanic stuff just falls flat for me. I don't enjoy that side of Metal at all. I prefer Maiden and Dio's literary references and Fantasy elements to the low-hanging fruit of "look at me I'm evil" nonsense that a lot of Metal falls into. Overall I do think they've begun to develop their own sound and personality. It's just not for me. If I cherry pick the two albums, I can put together enough to give me one decent listenable album. An old school shorter one under 45 minutes but, an album all the same.
