Today we're going to take a look at two brand new products from a brand new company called Klanghabitat. Cassiopeia & Lyra brings you analogue tube saturation in the 500-series format. Straightforward and intuitive design, just drive the saturation knob and blend it with the original signal to get saturation, glue and softening of transients.

Great units. A bypass function could have been a nice addition.

Absolutely but I think it just came down to space limitations 🙂

There isn’t a need for a bypass switch all the time

There is. Absolute deal breaker. I'm definitely not gonna start patching cables just to bypass a module. Can't even demo before/after...

Sounds great! What reverb did you use on the snare?

Thanks, probably Relab 480 or Valhalla vintageverb. Both are great though!

So are you also going to do a Lyra video? Or are they not much different? Is the Cassiopeia just a sterio version of the Lyra?
@Christian_svedin
@Christian_svedin Год назад
Their identical just stereo/mono 😊

Does this unit add more low end? I am looking for saturation that aims more toward the upper regions. Like 150 and up
@Christian_svedin
@Christian_svedin Год назад
I do believe the Cassiopeia has a HP filler so it's not affecting the lows which in my opinion is a great design feature. I prefer to keep the low-end clean.

By internal design these units preserve the lows to not smash the signal integrity (or mud it up). On the other hand these units are saturating more the higher frequency above 500 hz. This was the key element for its overall sound character. Furthermore this particular element was the reason to create the plugin version with the "color" integration during development (later we released it as well to the public). It helped to nail the sweat spot for the hardware unit. The "color" knob allows to sweep this frequency - but in a 500 series it was to massive to realize.

Why would you turn the output down when lowering the intensity/blend? Does the saturation reduce volume? I thought if anything saturation might have raised volume. Interesting.
@Christian_svedin
@Christian_svedin Год назад
The saturation increases the volume so when you add more to the source/more intensity the volume increases. So that's why I turned down the volume. Makes sense? Thanks for watching ✌️
@louiseisobel
@louiseisobel Год назад
@@Christian_svedin But that’s not what you are doing starting @1:50.

From then on you are turning down the volume when you turn down the intensity. To me, this doesn’t make much sense if the saturation increases volume. IF the saturation increases volume then logically you should be turning the volume up when turning the intensity down.

@@louiseisobel Oh, yeah I rode the volume fader in PT later on just so you guys didn't have to blow your ears out. Sorry for the confusion!
@louiseisobel
@louiseisobel Год назад
@@Christian_svedin : but if you were reducing intensity ( which as I understand it is blend amount ) wouldn't doing that alone reduce volume ? It makes me think something is strange with these units.

@@louiseisobelhe told you why he did it, nothing is wrong with the units.. did you buy one since you wanted to ask a million questions 😂
