Thanks for watching. so, I have three... two of them say "2a-KT", the other says "KT-2A"... I've been inside of all three extensively. Based on all sorts of identical markings, for example where and how the paint oversprays... I would highly doubt any of these are knock offs. I believe it was just early/later runs... maybe marketing felt like one or the other was more likely to spur purchase. I'll do some further investigating myself ands see if I can find any reference to the name change. I actually think it was my Sweetwater Salesman who told me that. I'll definitely check in when I find out some answers. Thanks again for watching! -Marty

@@SHUTUPANDRECORD - Well, I do know the Chinese have been known to dupe or clone just about anything from tennis shoes to entire aircraft carriers or warships. Google "China's fake warships" and see for yourself. Point being, if the unit is manufactured in China and perhaps you doubt it could be a knockoff, I'd think again. Also from Google: "Where are Klark Teknik products made? - A dedicated team of UK engineers now forms the nucleus of a Midas and Klark Teknik presence at Music Tribe City, the company's manufacturing hub in Zhongshan, Guangdong (China) Province, which its 3,000 staff call home." - That being said, the engineers may be from the UK as well, but that doesn't mean they aren't Chinese based. As a matter of fact, Behringer bought both Klark Teknik and Midas in 2009 and all Behringer products have been manufactured in China for 25 years. That might tell you something and I'd even start by saying I think the opto cell you pulled out could even be a fake component. Hmmmm.. can't confirm it, but if it were me, I'd probably crack the plastic shell open to see, just for the hell of it. Might sound ridiculous, but you never know.
