India as a republic was born on 1950 actually with Constitution, but India as a country has existed for thousands of years,2200yr old vishnupurana says ppl living south of snowy mountains, and south of hindmahasagar r Indian ocean there lived the descendants of the Bharatas,it also mentions each and every river in whole of India, today's Pak and Bangladesh too,it mentioned not only Himalayas but, also vindhyas, aravali hills,Western and eastern ghats, and describes socio political situation of India back then, and bharatvarsh is a word used for India for 3000yrs varsh means year, and nation in sanskrit, numerous such examples I can give
Ms Jalal, who has clearly benefitted from living and working in a pluralistic democracy, should claim Muslim nationhood and spearhead a movement to carve out a homeland from within the United States.
Sirs&Madam, the whole discussion establishes the fact that hindu maharaja wanted a separate muslim state well before Lahore resolution of 1941,and Mr Jinnah fell for their trap. Ask any indian now and they are happy at the creation of Pakistan. But they feel sorry for the fact not all Indian Muslims migrated to Pakistan in 1947.
Pakistan never truly believes in democracy and its people. It believes in army power. It cannot survive long unless it focuses on economy. It must need to develop economic relation with India. Look at Bangladesh, it has controlled its fast rising population, focused on economy, education and health of its people once got independence. Where it is now, a mile ahead of Pakistan and parity with India. Despite all political disagreements and disputes with India, its economic and people to people relation with India is inseparable. Nuclear arms or any other arms are not the savior from disintegration of a country. Soviet Union is an example which prior to separation had the largest number of nuclear arms. Pakistan's focus on Kashmir needs to be taken off. Otherwise, it will lose further territory as it lost more than half of its population and Bangladesh in 1971.
If Ms Jalal thinks that the distortion of the idea of two nations lead to two different states. What in Ms Jalal's mind, would yue two nations would have been if the notion of two nations had not been distorted?
Ayesha mam seems a voluble speaker but I can tell you her views are too diplomatic and unnatural.. Better speak clear truth rather than convoluted statements. Good debate though, happy to know at least anything other than Religion is discussed.
British India was a land of many diverse minorities. None of these minorities have issues with Congress. The biggest minority has issues. Why? The richest of the Muslims were worried of getting stripped of their riches by the Congress influenced by socialist communist ideas. After all Jinnah was also part of the same ilk (socialist communist). For their selfish interests & power, the Muslim elite and the Muslim Religious leaders used Jinnah (who enjoyed popularity among masses by association with Congress & being socialist - communist) as their representative. When religion becomes the face & name of the party, it sure will get the communalist tag, while Congress has leaders from all minority communities. That is why Jinnah became the figure head power (whose usefulness/utility is lost after getting Pakistan). To ensure more power to act on his vision, he empowered his chair ( himself ) with enormous powers which his successors misused. Nehru on the other hand cajoled and shared powers with his Congress leaders and other minority leaders and worked on the vision called "India - Bharat". Of course Nehru lived longer while Jinnah died early 😂. In this sense, Gandhi chose a better protege and team.
Pakistan should get-out from two nation theory ,its a three nations. Bangladesh is a historical fact & reality. Its result of tragedy and unlimited injustice happened with Bengali peoples from 1947 to 1971 by west Pakistan. Last 75 years people of Pakistan living in lie and denial and conspiracy mentality. Hope Pakistani people will take a lesson from Bangladesh and Bengalis that how to save and protect own people , Culture, Language & Tradition and hard work for bright future of Bangladesh..
Peace has eluded because of hypocritical Nehru. Nehru accepted Two nation theory and it’s child Pakistani, but he sat on Jinnah’s proposal of organised transfer of all Muslims from India to Pakistan & all Hindus of Pakistan to India. Had transferred of Muslims from India & Hindus from India, then peace would had prevailed between Pak& India.
