I always preferred the higher sensitive horn loaded speakers over soft dome tweeters speakers especially for theater use. I have blown or degraded many dome tweeters in my day which is another reason I prefer horns which seem to last forever and can take whatever I throw at them.
Great video Barrett! SVS makes some awesome speakers, we'd love to try out a pair of their towers in the future. It's neat getting to experience so many different speakers and the differences between designers - what their vision is, what kind of sound they like, etc. Keep up the great work!
Absolutely man. It is great being a reviewer, it truly is a lot of fun and you learn a lot. Thanks for popping by, I appreciate you always supporting the channel, you rock!
Me too... oh my do I love them! Bought them based based on a recommendation on RU-vid... I could not be happier... look and feel far more expensive to all my guests. I too went with piano black. Beautiful
I run the Prime Pinnacles in a 4.2 SVS Music Only System. I really like the sound as the system is crystal clear. The bass in my system is provided by dual SVS SB-3000’s.
To be fair, I imagine a giant like Klipsch will put more money into their development of floor standers. When it comes to subwoofers, svs of preferably Ryhtmik is where it's at. I'll be getting some rp8000's most likely with the svs pb1000, but would go the Ryhtmik sub if it were readily available at a fair price in Australia. My preference is for music over home theatre. For home theatre, the svs towers might edge out the Klipsch in a full surround setup. Cheers.
Anybody know what pair of Tower speakers that would compete with the Nakamichi Dragon from a pure power perspective? I’m trying to find a Soundsystem that will go well with an ultra short throw projector set up a sound bar will get in the way. 90% sports radio, live sports, and music. Occasional movie. Thanks.!
which one sounds better Svs Ultra Center or Klipsch Rp-504c MkIl for movies?? i like klipsch sounds better Svs Ultra Center mid bass sounds great but treble lags which one do you think is better?
Nice review.. But.. The gloss back/Piano finish... To me in my opinion looks nice but... in a system that may also run a home theater ( which I run..)... Is simply too reflective . The reflection off the side and front of the box...coupled with the room lighting, screen reflection etc... is distracting! I like the matte finish for a AVR setting.. If its only for Audio... then that matters little! Just an opinion.. nothing more.. nothing less...
Wow what a fantastic review, and even better- I could actually follow what you were saying. Video caught my eye, as I have Klipsch reference towers, and got a SVS 1000 sub to carry the bass. Anyway, I’m subscribed, keep up the good work.
Great video! My receiver “says” 110 watts per channel and I bought a BasX A-500 for my Rp-8000fs. But I can’t tell much of a difference. What amp do you recommend?
That only really matters when the volume of your speakers are exceeding the capability of the watts being received. (So If it sounds blown out). If you’re in a small room it’s easier but a bigger room might need more volume and that’s when an amp is required
I have to say I ate Britney Spears I hate hip-hop I hate and deplore cotton-candy amfm music it sucks dirty. Other than that goody you should compare the speaker's to is a little album called hemispheres by Rush
Slow down a little bro it's not a race, lol. That sub is ridiculous btw. It's bigger than three of those towers put together. You should lay it on it's side and put some chairs on top of it for a second row of stadium seating.
haha, Redbull gives you wings ;P, do you find it off putting? I kind of do that on purpose to not waste time and to not have any dead space. Just working hard bringing the facts lol. Do you feel it would be a better video if slowed down a little or is it better this way to save you time and get the info faster?
I tend to like the fast pace. You can still clearly understand the dialogue. Most people are just more accustomed to slower speaking RU-vidrs. I tend to talk a mile a minute so I may not be the best judge of pace😆😅🤣
@@SpecOfTech Fully understand wanting to keep things moving and make the video flow. It isn't off putting. Just think you sometimes appear to be trying a little too hard. I personally chose which videos I watch as much for the content as I do the presenter. They must be genuine and honest and insert some personality. You are that guy.
@@SpecOfTech I think it was deserved until they did the RP line. They tamed the tweeters finally. Audioholics shows them as very flat across the range. I am intrigued by the Polk Reserve R700 and maybe the Martinlogan XT60i or 40i.
@@Jedi_Order81 Right on man, which subwoofer did you decide to go with? I do really like the look of the Ultras, they are a good looking speaker in my books.
You should try some Paradigm towers like the Premier 800f, in audioholics tower comparison those were the ones they liked a lot compared to 8000f and prime pinacles. Edit: and they are also made in Canada
@@chasefreedom5178 I don't think it was decided in the sense that they crowned it first place or something like that but more that they had a lot of positive things to say about it with the other two being in comparison..
If you were like me and running the speakers with a subwoofer and using them for movies 95% of the time, would that have then leaned you more for the SVS's? I used to own some BIC venturi 2-ways with a 1" and 8" woofer and the midrange was really lacking in movies.
Hey Blue. No even with a subwoofer and for movies, I would still slightly prefer the Klipsch here, but that is personal preference. These speakers are very close IMO.
Me too, thats why I love my two SVS PB2000 subs. They hit super low, seems the lower the bass note, the louder they are. But in reality they just have a super flat frequency response where alot of others boost the bass around 45hz and fall on their fact below 30hz. I had infinity 12 inch subs before and the svs slams frequenies that the infinity cpuldnt even play. When I threw a 20hz tone at the infinity it would barely move, but the svs flexed so hard it looked like it was about to jump out of the box! I still bang DJ Magic Mike, DJ Fury etc.
I did sell the Klipsch for the SVS speakers, but the SVS Prime Pinnacles are only being used as my rear surrounds. I try to be completely unbiased and give my honest opinion regardless of the outcome. In this case I preferred the Klipsch over my new Prime Pinnacles. I do prefer the Ultra Towers over the Klipsch towers though. Cheers man!
I have Dual SVS PB2000s and am in the market for new speakers. The more reviews I see the more I lean toward the SVS Prime Pinnacle. I was also looking at the Emotiva setup with the towers, center and surrounds. They're less than the SVS and have the same warranty but im still leaning to svs unless I can see more reviews of the Emotivas. Will my Denon AVR-X330p be good enough for the SVS Prime pinnacles?
The SVS speakers are fairly efficient speakers, I don't see that being an issue. Although, a dedicated amp may be a little better, it doesnt mean your AVR won't make them sound great.
@@SpecOfTech one thing i could help but notice is the crazy efficiency of the Klipsch speakers, but I hear the highs can be fatiguing. Not sure about the Emotiva speakers. I was going to get the T2+ towers and C2+ center with the E2+ for surrounds and either the A1 or the Vaulta in ceiling speakers for atmos. Fo SVS I was thinking Ultra center and surrounds with the Prime pinnacles because they dont have to be so far off of the wall. Ive also pondered Martin Logan ESL towers with Motion speakers for center and surrounds.
@@SpecOfTech im going t9 eventually get an Emotiva dedicated amp for everything once my new home is built as I will have a dedicated theater room in it. I will have the extra insulation in the walls as well as sound deadening material.
😊 hear my thoughts this video is now 2 years of age and so is review I had obtained for two pair of the Klipsch RP 8000 V2.. and I like them very very much they sit in a very large room 48 ft long 32 ft wide width 12 foot ceilings.. and having two pair of these it fills the room wonderfully with epic sound levels. The base response is not all that authoritative as to what I am used to when listening to prog rock from the 1970s and hammering hard Rock such as😊 or let's say even listening to Pink Floyd which I consider Rock not prog rock. I am absolutely itching to get my hands on two pair of the SVS prime pinnacles to compare the two manufacturers in models available. I'm extraordinarily familiar with the clip sound and I do love it very much.. and I've talked with so many about the SVS prime pinnacles that they tell me the prime pinnacles beat out the Klipsch bass response by a good measure when it comes to authoritative bass responses so eventually I will own both the clips and the SBS together and have an Eevee switcher in my home in order to choose which set to listen to at a time to drive both of both of these different speakers I am using the email 11 channel power amplifier Bas x.. as well as the pioneer LX 505 DVR and I still do not see the need for subwoofers it's very pleasantly satisfying to me when listening to let's say Rush hemispheres or farewell 2 Kings as well as King crimson stuff which is absolutely epic.. listening to the live material is something I enjoy so both work very well with that including orchestral music movie film scores and related music when it comes to acoustic such as let's say Michael hedges or will Ackerman or Alex de grassi things that nature it really does bring out the shine in both of these models of speakers I want to keep both I will be keeping both just because.. I feel very clearly that SVS and clips are the best possible choices for speakers and within this other models in manufacturers seem to pale in comparison and I still don't understand to this day what happened to the 12 and 15 inch bass drivers that was so prevalent in speakers from the 1970s and the 1980 they should be making speakers floor standing which have 12 to 15 inch or larger.. give the people their freedom of choice just don't take away the larger drivers because these companies seem to want to sell subwoofers separately to make a larger profit margin only that's why they separated these large drivers from speaker cabinets it's the only reason why I can think this way, So please enjoy what you have or what you can afford or what is available to you and what your budget allows.. if your patient you will find the speaker brands at a better price than you do at present I hope this comment helps it is nov. 2023
To test both of these speakers to their maximum benefit listen to an album called Masters of Reality Masters of Reality particularly a little tune called kill the king... and then listen to the opening instrumentals on Pink Floyd obscured by clouds at a fair volume level to get an idea of what either of these speakers can do for your ears and your enjoyment and finally an album by the Alan Parsons Project called Tales of mystery and Imagination this album will particularly give you the full range of which either of the speakers can perform by. Let me know what you think by reply I would appreciate it thank you
Definitely purchasing the SVS prime pentacles why it's all about the money they sound better than the Klipsch truly and I've been buying Klipsch since 1972 but it needs her times in the need to conserve money the SVS prime pentacles rule and they sounded freaking great you would love them
Hi! I have just searched for info about this Svs speakers so this is what i needed! I have allso made contact with the Focal chora 826. Havent heard either of them so i have to relay a bit on other peoples ears, so thank you!
Nice video Barrett! I prefer the Klipsch RP8000F hands down. To go a little further the Klipsch RF 7 111 speakers were tested by high end audio and was said for the money IS THE speaker for the quality, clarity, sound, and money. I have very high end gear and those Klipsch RF 7 111 speakers will be my next audio purchase. Thanks brother for your knowledge of audio and speakers!
Define high end and very high end. Interesting you’re pairing “very high end gear” with $2000 speakers? I mean 2k isn’t lunch money but doesn’t seem to fit your presumed def of high/very high end.
@@ElCidPhysics90 One can easily purchase 20,000 dollar speakers and up although for the Klipsch coming in at 3,500 - 4,000 a pair for the "price" I don't feel they can't be beat at that price.
I’m going 8000f ii’s; he’s right or I share his opinion: audiophile and musician i’ve done exhaustive research between the Svs prime, the ultra and the Klipsch, 6000 and 8000 and some of the KE F’s and it keeps bringing me back to the 8000 I had a live chat with Crutchfield just to see what they thought what would go with a Yamaha RN 800 a one of the newer ones I just got at the time of this comment where I’m using klipsch 601Fs and a pair CerwinVegas and he said hands-down 8000 only after I told him that I listen to a lot of rock so between those two at least I think it’s just preference.
Hey man, hoping to get some thoughts on what to do in my situation here. I have a dedicated HT room (12x19) and I am looking to get a 133" diagonal 2:35:1 screen. But that leaves me with only 9.5 inches on either side of the screen. So my options are to either reduce the size of the screen to 125" (not ideal IMO) or to get a narrower set of FR speakers. Originally I wanted to get the SvS Pinnacles but now I am wondering if I get 2 SVS PB3000's as planned do I even need these tower speakers? I could simply pick the SVS ultra bookshelf speakers for Front and Right and be good right? Will I miss not having the towers if I go this route? Appreciate any feedback and thoughts on what to do here..Also any feedback on bookshelf stands would be great. PS - I'll be be getting the Ultra center, Satellite and Elevation Speakers as well for my 7.2.4 setup. JVC NX7 projector.
Thanks for watching man, I appreciate it. Great choice on the PJ my friend, the NX7 is a beast. Before I answer your question, have you thought about doing an acoustically transparent screen and then placing the speakers behind the screen? This would allow you to put much bigger (better) speakers behind the screen...just a thought. One thing I learned a while ago, is not to "cheap out" on the front soundstage. Not saying that you are cheaping out, but you definitely want to invest a good chunk of the budget into the front speakers. Your front speakers can make or break the experience because the majority of any movie will be played through them. That being said, you could get away with bookshelves, but you do have a fairly deep room at 19'. The Ultra bookshelves are a great speaker for sure, but they are still a bookshelf and won't be able to compete with a tower. The bookshelf is also only a 2 way design where the Pinnacles are a 3 way. The Pinnacles 3 6.5" woofers will handle everything from 300hz down. You will most likely be using the THX standard of 80hz to crossover your speakers, or something close to that. Meaning even if using capable subwoofers, the Pinnacles woofers will still be handling everything from 300hz to 80 hz and they will do a MUCH better job than the single 6.5" woofer on the Ultra bookshelves that will handle everything from 2000hz down to 80hz. Long story short, IMO you should go with the Pinnacles, you will get a better experience. FYI, the tweeter in the Pinnacles is the exact same tweeter as the one in the Ultra line up. If you do decide to go the SVS route, can I ask you a favor, can you use my links attached in this video? It will not cost you any more, but it helps out the channel, I would greatly appreciate it brother...cheers.
@@SpecOfTech hey Barrett, thanks for sharing your thoughts. What you say makes a lot of sense.. I appreciate that insight. Yes I have consider getting an AT screen. But the in-wall speaker choices are then even more harder (at least for me). I have looked at the Focal 300 series and the Martin Logan Axis..But it is hard to find reviews of in wall speakers 😁. Also Yes if I do go with the SvS set up I'll use your links - if they get me the same price as the dealers are offering..

Hello, I've been watching all your contents and enjoy them. I have a dilemma on which speakers to choose and with that being said it is hard to pick one as I cannot just go to a hifi store and listen. I currently have a Paradigm monitor 9v6/CC290 for front stage, powering them is an Outlaw 5000 with Marantz SR6011 with 2 x PB 2000 pro. Thinking about upgrading to Emotiva T2+/C2+ or C1+, SVS Prime Pinnacles. Also in my mind would upgrading from what I have make a difference? I hate to spend and speakers make no difference. My home theater is in a grand room 19x 22 x 9. Please let me know your thoughts? V/r Jonathan
Derek I wish you could try some Tekton Double Impact speakers at least for the main fornt left and right and give us your thoughts. I built my own bessel array and they are amazing. Part of this is due to their high efficiency and part is due to the radiation dispersion of the 7 tweeters in the center at ear level. I have looked at all the arguments about the comb filtering effect but to my ears I like the dynamics! I made removeable panels so I can pop one design in over another for the tweeters and midrange for testing purposes. I do like the look of the svs and they are very clean sounding which is no surprise since they use mainly peerless drivers.
It's amusing to see the focus on the two brands in the US. I have made the experience that especially European speakers are little noticed, although they are clearly better in the price segment than anything Klipsch has to offer.
Well that really depends on your sound signature preference. Klipsch gets a lot of unwarranted hate in a lot of cases. They aren't for everyone, but a lot of people love them for their own reasons. That would be true for European designed speakers, I would imagine. Cheers!
One thing that might add a bit extra value to your reviews is to mention the song(s) or movies that helped you notice a particular strength or weakness on the speaker, especially when comparing the two speakers (like the written internet reviews do). For example, "on ___ song from ____, I noticed that the Klipsch had better bass while the SVS..." That would give us a reference point to listen to that song and see which kind of sound we would prefer for our speaker choice.
Yeah, I will have to try and remember to work that in especially for the side by side reviews. This one was a little more general because the Klipsch had already been sold when I got these, so there was no side by side comparisons I could make. I had to make more general consistency type statements.
@@SpecOfTech Andrew Robinson is a great reviewer, watch his content all the time. The Klipsch RP probably out sells everything in its category, for a reason. They are a product that appeals to the vast majority of people looking for a well priced, great looking and sounding speaker both for music and HT. Quite a feat. Its difficult to choose one these days, not being able to actually put ears to anything. Reliance on reviewers is their opinion even with a direct comparison can be different that what you or I would think. Bottom line is we are able to take certain things from each reviewer and have a very good idea of what the product is, and if it fits. Thank goodness there are honest reviewers like Barrett and others to help!!!
@@Johnnytrades101 Love Andrew's stuff, he really is a great reviewer. He has an excellent way of wording things, I wish I could write reviews like his. I know that there will be guys who may buy products based on my reviews and I want them to find that what I said was accurate. I would hate to say I like something simply to try and sell a product! If the product is good and well designed, it should stand up to honest reviewers, and if it doesn't stand up, don't send your product to me lol.
I guess they aren't entirely meaningless to everyone, they provide some level of entertainment for many people. They definitely aren't scientific, but I have noticed when doing comparisons of demo footage, some of what I was hearing in the room is also present in the footage. I think that there are some that put too much value in demos, but putting zero value in demos isn't fair either IMO. Thanks for watching.
I wish I could, but they won't send me their THX S speakers, I'd have to buy them. Once my channel builds enough support I should be able to make purchases like that, to offer unbiased comparisons like that.
Thanks for watching. I can't say for sure what I would choose between the 2. I have not heard the B&W's unfortunately. Although I have read they have a great midrange.
Holy shit what do you do for a living? How do you afford all this highend subs and amps and speakers lol.. i make 6 figures and cant afford all the gear you own. I can probably afford a 10-20k system max thats with speakers, amps, and everything which i feel is till a lot of money but man i wish i had some of you audiophiles set ups and gear.
lol well I do make ok money, at least enough to support my family and a little extra. I just focus all my spare money to my hobby. A lot of guys spend 10's of thousands on cars, or going out every weekend etc. I just put all that money towards my passion, audio and HT.
@@SpecOfTech so do you think i make enough to eventually have a nice set up like yours? I haven't really sat and tried to price a system out yet. Do you think 20k will get me a nice system with speakers, subs and amps and recievers? My basement is wired for 7 in ceiling speakers and 2 subs. Also my basement is pretty big like 48×36. I see all these guys with McIntosh amps and recievers and im like are those really necessary there has to be something comparable for half the price. I heard the la scalas and thought damn those are nice but there not versatile. Like you cant watch movies with the la scalas there pretty much to me just really for jazz music. I do like loud systems but i also want clarity and it to sound crisp and balanced.. any recommendations please..
Hey bear I got to know, how do they handle the bass of solar fields tracks, my fronts do not so well even for dual 8IN drivers with 200watts each they with tracks such as they are deep and tight don't reproduce as clearly as I'd like they sound more like a rubber malet hitting a wet drum but on my m570 headphones the bass is tight sharp and precise, what I'd like to know from you is if you could give a listen to the solar fields albums, sol, origin #2 and, ourdum and tell me how they sound on those svs towers an maybe even do a sound demo video review
Unfortunately I have not done this comparison on my own yet, so I can't speak from personal experience. There have been some comparisons on RU-vid from different YT'ers. The only thing I can say definitively, is the Klipsch would handle louder volumes better. I experienced that even with the PR8000 vs the Ultras.
At this price point there are better choices from the Revel Performa F35/36, Kef Q series, Wharfedale 12 and Evo series. In house designed and or built drivers rather than off the shelf stuff. Just a lot more research and tech that leads to better overall sound for the price.
I look forward to hearing some of the speakers you listed someday. I also can agree that there very well could be better sounding speakers for the price. BUT, what sounds better to you, may not be the case for everyone. For instance you stated the Revel Performa F35 would sound better, which only has a response down to 55hz +-3db. So for you it may sound better, but for someone looking for a speaker that is closer to full range in the bass department, they may disagree. For perspective the SVS is rated down to 28hz +-3db. The flagship KEF Q950 is rated down to 44hz, so same thing here. Now, don't get me wrong, bass is DEFINITELY not the only metric one should look at, but it is one that could be a determining factor for some, as to what sounds best to THEM. The Ultra towers also have a rich midrange and really do quite well with music. I can't honestly say which of the speakers I would prefer out of the ones you listed or the SVS Ultras, because I have not heard them all. The only way I could say for sure is to hear them in my space. I could tell you right now, that if they have a weak low end, I would not care for them much. For that price, I would expect a fairly well rounded speaker, that can also get low. I appreciate your suggestions and comment though, I do plan on checking out some of those speakers in the future.
S . T - That is the first accurate review I've seen on YT of both of these speakers so far. I have yet to hear a review of the Ultras against the Klipsch RS7III. Good Luck PM
Awesome comparison review, Barrett. I love the way that you compared the different sound aspects of each of the speakers against each other. I think that is very helpful for people considering various options at similar price points. Reviews of speakers on their own often tend to portray all mid-range and high end speakers as great so more novice buyers have a hard time knowing what to choose. As my friend said, "the reviews suggest that all speakers are great. How do I choose?"
@@SpecOfTech perfect, they were designed by Andrew Jones like the older pioneer speakers that sounded amazing. Also if going with separates over a AVR what is a better budget processor that you have reviewed? I'm looking at a few of the entry level amps you reviewed Also.
Yup, and it is there to appease both sides of the camp. Those that think demos are useless, I hope to help them understand that a lot of guys WANT demos. I get bugged any time I don't include one lol. The guys that want demos, I hope to help them understand that a YT demo should not be a deciding factor for them to buy. They are fun though!
Of course you can request it. Unfortunately, I can't make any guarantees that I can make it happen. BUT, I have had my eyes on those Warfedale 4.4's myself. I would love to try and get them in my place as well, fingers crossed.
I have the Klipsch RP8000F and the RP504 center. They sounded ok. I did the GR Research crossover upgrade on the three speakers and WOW!! Much much better now. I also have two pb3000 in the theater.
Hey Chris, I have watched a lot of GR content. He is extremely knowledgeable, probably one of the best out there. Great to hear that his wizardry really makes a difference. I have considered doing his DYI kits, which also have great reviews. I have everything to build them, but age begits laziness lol!!!
Hi Chris, I recently purchased the Klipsch RP800F after the reading and listening to the reviews however I am somewhat disappointed. There is definitely a mid range void with these speakers and the tweeter is ear piercingly high. I looked at the GR Research website and I have to say Danny Richie was spot on with analysis. Did the cross over upgrade correct these problems for you and how much did it change the listening experience for you. Either I change the cross overs in these speakers or they are going straight on to eBay. Love to hear your thoughts.
Between the 2 I prefer the Klipsch RP8000F over the Pinnacle. But everyone prefers something different. I did my best to give you the key differences in this video. I think the Klipsch RP8000F are the safer choice IMO. Hope this helps!
That’s a wicked set up you have! You do a great job of breaking everything down. I found this channel a few days ago and subscribed. I have lots of speakers and gear but I don’t have any experience with svs speakers but I like what I’ve heard so far. I’m eye balling those sweet ultra’s...Thanks for the helpful info!🍻🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊
Since SVS is primarily known as a subwoofer company, I am guessing they are trying to match their speakers to their deep, deep subs and therefore focused on mid bass over deep bass which will complement each other well. I have not heard either speaker, but that philosophy would make sense.
There’s actually a review I read on these where they were surprised svs made the bass extension on the pinnacles so good because they reasoned they’d sell less subwoofers. Personally I can say though if you have a particularly large room you will still want a sub. Same with any floorstander of this size.
@@rxw5520 not sure what review that was but I would avoid any of his other review. The Prime pinnacle can dig fairly deep for a tower but with a low of 29 Hz, that's the same as a $100 sub and while it will give you the full range of mid bass, you have absolutely no chance at hearing any actual low base. Most current action movies regularly get down to 20-22hz and some scenes will go well below 20hz. Svs is a subwoofer company that expanded into the speaker market and there is zero chance they will ever make a tower that will teach 20-22 hz that is passive. They may decide to add an act if sub within a tower to drop that low, but even then, I don't think they could manage that in that size of a speaker. Most towers with active subs can maybe get to 27 hz, a pair of Polk P2000s ithinkngotnto 28 hz but if I turned my main subs off, you lost all sorts of impact with the action seems and sounded very unexpired
@@rxw5520 small room music you could probably get away with it, especially depending on the genre, classic rock for example rarely gets below 35 hz with the kick bass and bass guitar. Sometimes subs don't work well in small rooms (like a bedroom turned into a listening room, because the base reflection interferes with everything else. There are pure audiophiles that won't add a sub woofer as because they say it takes away form what the mix artist intended those this group usually has $50-$100k speakers. For all listening rooms, I see the SVS towers that dig to 29hz as quite beneficial as you can escape the potential issues by adding a sub. I mistakenly thought you were talking about a theater room scenario. Svs speakers are highly under rated asost think they are a sub company bat only sells speakers toake more money but not their expertise
