Tomorrow I am going to e-attend (who knew that was possible), the funeral of my brother-in-law who was formerly a KLM captain on the 747 so this video somehow came at the right time for me. After many years of going there, I have still not tuned into the Dutch sense of humour! Chicago looks very impressive - still on my 'to do' list
RU-vid presented me this video and it was from AMS to ORD back in 2022. I looked back on my calendar of this day and it had written, "reschedule my KLM flight from AMS to IAD" on this day. I still had not traveled since Covid started, I was very afraid. As you noted in your thorough review, Schiphol was such a MAJOR mess at this time. You're a brave soul! It was very chaotic for passengers originating in Amsterdam. I see now that I could have flown, the world was going on as normal. I still don't get all the Dutch humor as well, most likely, they were laughing at themselves. Wonderful city tour of Chicago. I've flown on many (Delta) 727s as well...they were so fun. Cool museum!

Whenever I've been flying KLM and the crew were announcing filming was not allowed as they usually do on KLM flights I was thinking of you. And here you go, you flew and you managed to film. Good job!
Great long haul. Nice hukes, I must say. Chicago vlog was great. I learned some things. No hukes on the older plane? 😮 OMG 😂 I remember having some sport coats on hangers that the flight attendant stored for me in a special closet. (This was 1980's) Also, YOU had a sport coat on! Thanks Jayden.
😂 I love it when you said they look scary 🤣🤣🤣 but overall happy to see you enjoyed the long haul becos all I ever flown on klm has been economy and business class from Singapore to Bali and they are good. No pillows not so fun I guess esp for long haul or regional flights! And yeah their jokes at times I kind of not get it too but I cracked up when you said you laughed along anyways! 😂...Oh church service provided for... Interesting 🤔 and thanks for mentioning Singapore as a great transit stop! Over all it makes me want to consider klm for long haul becos one of my dreams is to go to the Netherlands! 😘

Nice video Jayden, KLM planes always look so clean on the inside. Food looked quite OK as well. If you have a look for “727 meigs” here it shows I think the same 727-100 landing at the old Meigs Field airfield on the lake shore which is now closed and wasn’t a commercial length runway! Shame you’ll never get to fly on a 727 as it was a great looking airliner and going up the rear air stairs was a thrill too!
@@JaydenWong you might see one at MAD if you ever fly there depending on the runway in use. Iberia 727s were the best looking planes in Europe I think and the models are some of my favourite ones I own ✈️
I actually saw this exact aircraft almost 2 weeks ago when i was in Amsterdam, but i flew back to the US on PH-BQF for about 9 hours, and it was the first time i ever actually slept. Amazing legroom and amazing recline, especially compared to n415dx which i flew over to Paris (final destination was Athens)

As an "old timer", I will always call it the "Sears Tower" (1973-2009😥). There is no better way to get the "lay of the land" than from the top of a city's tallest skyscraper. 👍💯. Hi Jayden....I didn't know Chicago had sandy beaches ! Are they around the edges of their big lake ? Economy class on the flight looked like fairly narrow seats. Those of us who might be a little " chubby" around our derriere, may find those seats a tad squeezy ! 😂 Apart from that, it was good to see relatively decent food and IFE on the flight .
Yep and they’re not far from the city at all. That being said, some are natural and some artificial. When the platinum member sat down at the aisle seat, we both rolled our eyes😩 I actually had stomach problems and went to the loo eight times during the flight 😂😂 Thankfully he got upgraded
That noise must be from the landing gear holding. I remember Continental Airlines B777-300 in October of 1999. Same noise I heard as we were coasting to get to cruising height. Heard same noise from nose wheel up front first class on BA B747-400
20:14 OMG I wonder how the united plane first got into the museum, given that is a real plane. The functional landing gear makes the display more interesting 😍. The lavatory in that plane looks rather spacious
Haha My friend Mike did tell me how it landed at a nearby airport but I forgot how it was then moved into the museum. It would’ve been a big project then
i’m at my Adelaide home right now. Been here almost two weeks now. Another two weeks and I’m off to Phuket. Back in Adelaide for two days, then the Gold Coast (Australia) and Europe😂 Then Adelaide for 2-3 weeks, then my Hong Kong home

Great trip report and vlog! Although the ticket price on KLM was good, I also thought the cheese bread was disappointing after such a great first meal. Even with 3-4-3 seating, the 777 cabin looks extremely roomy. I'm glad you enjoyed Chicago, and still sorry I missed you. I've been to the Museum of Science and Industry, and thought the UA 721 exhibit very interesting and cool. FYI, I flew on those as well - they didn't even have enclosed overhead bins, just racks above the seats. That was how things were in the '60s when it was designed and built; the "widebody look" plastic ceiling panels with enclosed bins didn't come until the '70s. Ahh, bone marrow...so glad you sampled that delicacy! As far as "infant water"...never heard of it nor seen it! How weird. Keep up the great work! 💖

AY hands down!! Two full meals on AY vs one full meal and a refreshment on LH. AY you get refurbished A350 too. HEL is easier for transit too. Munich not sure, but FRA is chaotic now haha. Also AY is oneworld😝😝

I agree with Jayden about the service but check schedules when you book. Right now AY may be uncompetitive in terms of flight time owing to Russian ban.

Correct KLM has this policy. Blurring faces is a very difficult task so I normally don't bother but more than happy to do it if someone requests me to do so :)

Thanks again Jayden. As you've seen for yourself KLM is not OTT. It's a good, reliable and solid airline. AMS-ORD much be one of its most popular routes and it must gain many transfer pax from Germany and the former Eastern Europe. Not sure about 10-across Y seating on the older 777-200s. I remember NZ saying some time ago that 10-across worked better on the -300 series.
I forgot to mention that long way you had to taxi at Schiphol. You might have used the infamous Polderbaan runway which some say is nearer Haarlem than the Schiphol terminal !
Definitely not OTT with the missing pillows! Aer Lingus cancelled my ticket last minute (they moved their Dublin to Chicago’s departure earlier so I would have a missed connection) so I had to make a last minute booking with KLM. Thankfully I was able to use Qantas points to redeem KLM to USA, and AA back. The tax and surcharges though was more than the Aer Lingus ticket😤😭 What is NZ on about!!?😂 No way! Give me 9-abreast on a 777 anyday! Yep we did depart from the runway out of nowhere. I just had a look on Google Map, you’re right about how it’s closer to Haarlem😂😂 Thanks Alex!

Great Trip report. The passenger form is interesting, I flew into the US on 27 May and didnt have to fill one out. Maybe because I'm a US citizen? I like the small blue accents throughout the cabin, especially on the tray table.
The announcement didn’t say it was for non US citizens so I assume it was for everyone. Never seen such form before though til this trip. I love the blues too haha, the seat, tray table, trolleys etc
@@JaydenWong I (US citizen) flew back to the US in early May 2022, before the COVID testing requirement went away, and I filled out that passenger attestation form online via Verifly. So it's the same form, just the dead tree version.
I guess it's just a tradition to only give out Fahrenheit over the PA for North America's flights. In normal practice, the pilots should have recieved North American METAR codes (which uses Celsius as the temperature format) of weather information of the destination airport prior descend.
Funny how Chicago has only two flights daily to & from Amsterdam - Minneapolis has 3 daily with Delta and 1 4 times per week with KLM. Also - booking throgh KLM is cheaper than booking through Delta out of Minneapolis.
I liked the chicken curry, but I'm used to something more spicier. Some Chillies in it would be nice. But alas, it's a Dutch airline that's not known to have spicy cuisine

I guess they got the weather via the computer because if they got it via the ATIS it would have been in Celsius as Celsius is the widely used unit of measurement like minutes of fuel remaining rather than a fluid measurement.
So you didn’t experience the horrible checkin problems that I and thousands of other travelers have experienced the last few months . 5 hours to check baggage and another hour for security. Thus flights all missed and it was KLM’s fault for being under staffed, of course KLM/AirFrance/Delta is putting the blame on the airport so as not to pay out the EU 261 rules for delays.
As a flight attendant I definitely don’t want to be filmed because it feels very invasive when you have a camera pointed toward your face when your doing your job
