Great video. Very informative on the question i was starting to wonder about on my 2022 klr650. I believe you sold me on the exhaust. Can you give me the exact name of the exhaust so that I'm not spending hours on the websites, looking for the correct model?
I agreed. I learned more from that distance then all the other videos. It helps me think of my neighbors and also gives me reference to the real volume difference not just the sound difference.
Your comparison at a distance through all 4 options was inspired! It's so hard making a recording accurately demonstrate real world sounds but you may just have nailed it! Best comparison ever!
Looks excellent and saves a significant amount of weight. For my tastes it is overly loud even with the quiet baffle in. Thanks for the incredible comparison.
You two did a great job on this video comparing all the sounds with the stock versus the new muffler with the added inserts for the new muffler. Nicely done. New sub here. I also can't watch with out commenting on the Pup, I had me a little pup like the one you have, she would always get out of her collar when we she was tied up at the lake and come swimming out into the lake to see if I was catching anything from the kayak. Ha, great times. Thanks again and keep up the fun videos my friend Dale
Excellent video. Saves weight/sounds great. You went the extra mile throwing the stock exhaust on and that’s great, but your dog stole the show. Git bored chasing you down the driveway!
Excellent and thorough video, as well as an excellent bike. Congratulations and thank you. I thought you were in southern Minnesota until I saw your plate. That must be eastern North Carolina.
Great video I was looking for a comparison on the delvin and stock. You hit the nail on the head. You got a good dog too he followed you all the way out until he couldn't see you anymore.
I love the LeoVince 94DB I put on my '18 KLR. Turned it from sounding like a generator to really sweet. no regerts as far as 'long', it looks like half of a Ducati superbike setup. as far as weight, if I remember, it was 5 pounds lighter.
Thank you im surprised how well that scale worked and the weight differences between the pipes... Also i was about to go watch that klr puig video you posted i just got a puig windshield installed yesterday and ready to add more🤘
Can hear the low end power it lost with the open exhaust. Guess Im getting older, I like quiet bikes. Especially ADV and enduro bikes for the stealth factor exploring
I couldn't believe how heavy the stock exhaust was .. Once it slid off the header and i had the full weight in my hand. I alsmost dropped it cause i was using one hand haha
I have heard all of these slip ons will work for any KLR form Gen 1 to Gen 3 but now seeing this one on the website syaing it works for any KLR from 87 to 2024 proves it. I have seen people use a "gen 1" exhaust on a gen 2 and a gen 2 exhaust on a gen 3. I guess they all work.
Stock baffle for my taste. I'm only changing mine for weight saving gains as I'm riding my Gen 3 around Australia and I can carry 4litres of extra water with no additional rear shock compression.
Buddy! That fender drop deserves a video all its own! I’ve been dying to see it without the beak up front! I’d be surprised if a video with a pretty cover image wouldn’t do really well on RU-vid. Can you tell me which stabilizer brace you used?
thank you i appreciate the views and comment.. and I bought the Xitomer Motorcycle Fork Brace on Amazon. nit the eagle Mike they look exactly the same to me I wouldn't be surprised if eagle Mike bought it and just etched their names in it and upcharged.. but I didn't want to spend 125 on a brace and end up not liking it... so far it's holding up good no complaints
Thank you and that would be cool but i price would probably shoot way up.. Im happy with performance with the bike at that price range.. Thank you for watching the video
I just got a brand new KLR adventure and I'm so stoked.. it's better than I thought it was going to be.. I love seeing so many cool mods I can do.. this sounds good.. is it obnoxious in person? It sounds like it could be.. I like to live on the edge anyway 😆
yes I love the sound and I'm using the quieter insert it's not that big a difference from the stock. but just incase it does make a difference when my wife rides with me I've left it up there
Those hand mits look silly, but... Damn do they work. I just wear Motocross gloves inside of snowmobile mittens. Or my heated gloves if I can keep track of my batteries and charger. hahahah But those mits actually work really good if you live in the north. I just got home from a 50 mile ride and its 11 degrees outside. First time the KLR took a few cranks to start though.
Just don't like my bike completely quiet and the stock muffler is ugly... and no it rides the same slip on don't really do anything besides change the tone.. thanks for watching
I love the sound of the new exhaust...but I leave the house at 5 AM every weekend for work and hearing the difference in the amount of noise when you filmed it at your door told me for the sake of my neighbors maybe I better keep the original on it. 😬
That was me getting on it pretty good too but even if you got up to speed slower it still makes some noise.. When i was going down the driveway that was about 14mph in 2nd gear just idling
@@joyridefiends initially I was thinking that's a nice sound and doesn't seem very loud. Then when you went by in the factory muffler I was oh shit! I know how loud that is and I can barely hear in in the video...so that new pipe must really be something.
@@CoreyBrass i like it.. Its not as loud as i thought it would be but with no baffle it screams and still its not as loud as i thought. I thought it would be closer to screaming crotch rockets but its not so im happy all around. But the stock exhaust is stupid quiet haha
@@joyridefiends 🤣🤣🤣 It doesn't seem stupid quiet when at 5 AM on a Sunday morning when I fire it up for work...but I get what you mean. I have an 07 Harley with straight pipes and the only day I'll ride that into work is on Saturday morning and that's because my neighbors will be up (in the summer time) until 2 and 3 AM so I figure what the hell. Otherwise I do try to be a good neighbor. I don't know I might give it a try...on still on the fence.
Any issues with flames shooting out the exhaust at high revs? I just got the 9" and she spits some flames now. If so. Did the quieter insert help the issue? Thanks!
I hear VERY small backfires with the stock.I hear VERY small backfires with the stock exhaust. It's funny. Sounds like someone throwing rocks at a metal pipe LOL
@@TechJohnson many people worry about it leaning it out too much. And you're correct. They all backfire, even with the factory anchor (muffler). It's just not as noticed. I may be getting one of these. Thanks for posting!
Thank you i agree and it seems to be running fine i haven't had an issue yet.. Their website said it didnt need remapping but i believe all brands reccommend getting it checked to be safe
It should be ok. When you put a new "muffler" on a EFI vehicle you're suppose to idel it for a minute or 2 to let the sensors adjust to the new reality, then you're good to go. That's what they told us back in the late 90s anyway. 🤷♂️
Did u notice any popping on accel or decel with the 9" and stock baffle? I installed the same but carbon fiber and noticed some. Will the ECU self adjust or did u de- snorkel yours or change the filter?
This one's the 8" and I only noticed the pop if you get crazy with the throttle and it's way worse with no baffle but I just think that's because you can hear it better and I never removed the snorkel and I put in a uni filter. Also with the stock KLR exhaust I had popping once again when you got crazy with the throttle it's just quieter
Heat related like on the plastics? If so no plastics are still good and I don't have side cases so I don't know if those would be an issue.. and heat related as engine wise I have no idea I haven't put the temp. Sensor on it yet
@@Mojoman57 I've heard of people doing it but I feel like it's just a placebo effect just like when people say when you add a slip on they feel a power increase slip ons really just change the sound
@@joyridefiends yeah and you can always put it back supper easy, best way to access it is through the actual intake box (don’t take the seat off it’s much harder), try and UNI intake filter to and see if they negatively/positively affects power with it (remember a lot of it can be placebo but hey if it makes you “feel” faster then it works haha
@@joyridefiends the snorkel in the airbox (it only adds less then an inch for forging) was added primarily to help with noise regulations. I've kept mine in but honestly my ears are now so bad I don't notice sounding any different. I'll trust younger ears for that. 😁
Damn that sucks ypu might just have to play the waiting game haha.... Im in a klr650 group on facebook and almost every muffler for this bike is out of stock
@@joyridefiends not sure how much different the gen 2 fender is over the gen 3 but don't seem to be an issue with my gen 2..what really matters is if you like roll with it..
@@joyridefiends I had considered trading my 2018 on a 2022 then realized I would have to put another 3k into it crash bars, skid plate, tank bag panniers..all the things mine has so I decided to keep mine and enjoy it..
