This was the first season Bill Cullen hosted after Jack Barry died of a heart attack. After 2 years Bill hosted, The Jokers Wild along with Tic Tac Dough ended their long runs in 1986. At the time this series ended, The Jokers Wild disappeared from many markets since 1983 or '84.
You can thank the cancellation of BULLSEYE as well as the arrival of Nighttime Family Feud being stripped to 5 nights a week, the arrivals of PM Magazine, Entertainment Tonight and The Original People's Court with Judge Wapner, the Nighttime Version of Wheel of Fortune with Pat & Vanna (still going strong on NBC Daytime), The Original Love Connection with Chuck Woolery, Sally Jesse Raphael, the revived JEOPARDY! with Alex Trebek and the announcement of The Oprah Winfrey Show coming to TV spelled the end of The Joker's Wild & Tic Tac Dough after TJW & TTD came to an end, we saw the arrival of The All New Dating Game with Elaine Joyce following the success of The NEW Newlywed Game with Bob Eubanks and Mama's Family entered syndication after It's a Living successfully entered syndication also, the 85/86 season, Wink Martindale left TTD for Headline Chasers a series from the creator of JEOPARDY! & Wheel of Fortune and Jim Caldwell became the new host of TTD with a brand new set
