Commercial for the Swamp Thing, Levi's, Jordache, and the eulogy to Belushi..... all iconic, amongst others. and there was a lot of great music from 1982. Even on the pop music charts...

Oh... and ah... Thriller. Best selling Pop album of all time, and the best selling album of any genre of all time. Released in 1982. 1982 was a great year in media! Lots of great music, movies, TV shows, and fun commercials to watch.

You also have to realize that these aired after midnight and aren't really representative of "prime-time" advertising.

No, that's actor George Plimpton. He did the Intellivison commercials. You're thinking of Dan O'Herlihy who was Cochran.

I had heard of Jon Belushi's passing as a kid, and again when NBC aired the made for TV movie about Robin Williams during his run on Mork & Mindy. It was sad to see comedians go out that way...even with heavy drinking & OD-ing. Without Jon, Jim wouldn't have been known for his sitcom & voicing Simon The Monster Hunter on AAHHH!! Real Monsters.

Fayva looks like they used Miss Piggy as their foot model! I think it's because of the shoes she wore in The Muppet Movie, Great Muppet Caper and Muppets Take Manhattan. She wore lots of sandals like those on the commercial.

Remember this like it was yesterday even though I was seven at time. I wanted to watch Night Tracks on TBS, and my oldest cousin wanted to watch SNL to mourn the loss of John Belushi. We would argue, and argue until my mom stepped in and gave us 2 choices. Turn the channel back and fourth every 5 minutes, or the TV would have to be turned off. Boy those were the days! This probably is the best quality video I've seen on here for this being from 82, is it original recording or was it remastered?

and notice the tacky pantyhose, sandal combo! OMG! sure it's a "sandal foot" style hose, but that is just the height of tackiness. LMAO

oh yeah back in the day when videogames were actually different depending on the console they were on? :P (although that vic-20 port of space invaders looked pretty good!!) Willheim scream in the swamp thing ad though, was there an action movie ever made that DIDN'T sneak it in there somewhere? :P Great stuff though, love these!

These come from airchecks made by KNBC, probably on betamax. I usually do some basic color correction on my videos but these are in such pristine quality I didn't touch them. I posted commercial blocks from other KNBC airchecks of SNL (in similar quality) in Vols. 171-183.

My channel is about preserving the past. If I find a block with commercials you'll see every ad that's on it. So if you're looking for some sort of "greatest hits" compilation this channel isn't for you.

I am aware of your agenda and have been watching and enjoying all of the videos. Just pointing out that this slate of them or it could be most from early '82 just didn't have the staying power of others. No slight.

Man, I don' remember many of these. Not many iconic ones; Intellivision and Commodore not withstanding. Maybe it was like the pop music charts in '82 - just weak.
