I was an extra in a BBC show called 'The Nest', and we were all filming a night club scene. This was the music they had us dancing to.... over.... and over.... and over.... and over again.
There are a few hours left until Abandon Ship's release will be 9 years... This time and my journey with it is are unforgettable and forever in my soul..... It all started with my introduction to Pendulum, when I first heard the tune from The Island in the splash screen of one minecraft video in the spring or summer. Then in the winter of 2016 I discovered this band in full and found out that they play live as a band and was blown away by the epicness of The Tempest sound and the melody of the last synth part of the song! Then I listened to Still Grey, Streamline, The Fountain and slowly explored this immense ocean of Swire's work. I remember the moment when in December 2016 I heard Encoder Live at Wembley for the first time and just fell out from the beauty of the song.... Then in the summer of 2017 I fully immersed myself in the discography of Knife Party project. It was an amazing feeling to discover each track and study it, to listen to the sound design and notice for myself how they are made and then to realize these ideas in my tracks. And then there was a moment of waiting for new releases from Rob and that was the release of Lost Souls, and the day came when I listened to ID called Nothing For Free for the first time.... It was a dream that melted into reality and I just couldn't believe it.... Then Covid, listening to Rampage Version on repeat and the death of my mom in the summer of 2020... Just so iconic... I'm insanely sorry she didn't live to see the moment of infinite happiness that I caught Pendulum releasing new material after 10 years! And nowadays Rob is releasing new tracks and a new life is underway. But this era will forever be in my soul as something inalienable, unrepeatable, honorable to me and all this chain of random events that led me to this man will be insanely grateful. Without him, his music, I would not have found myself and would not have known myself as a musician and composer. He's my twin flame... So I will forever honor this whole period of my life as a way of becoming and coming to the depth of myself. And thanks to every soul who's helped me and taught me to see myself as a creator and a god.... Pendulum, KP - forever in love...
That's so cool, Abandon Ship will always hold a special place in my heart too because my nephew introduced me to Knife Party's music in 2013 and I had never really listened to music before; that is to say apart from music in my surroundings, I'd never independently looked for and developed my own music taste and thought about what I liked before. And when this album was released I loved every track from beginning to end. It's just so clean and has so many different styles and it opened me up to music as a whole so much. And through my tastes changing over the past ten years, from electronic to DnB to older pop music to rap, it's so cool to come back to the start of my playlist and listen to Abandon Ship again, the start of the journey
This is by far my favorite song on the album, the Arabic sounds, the upbeat electro parts, and the sampling and ambiance make this song my favorite KP song. Keep it up you guys!
For those who want to know, the genre of this song is electro house. It isn't arabstep or arabian house, but it definitely has arabian vibes/influences.
hey when i listen to this, especially at 1:11, i think of a desert at night, just before sunrise - just think of a desert at night while listening to this, it's weird...
This (and a few other songs off Abandon Ship) sounds like Rob and Gareth were just messing around until they heard something that sounded good. They need to keep doing this because this (and the other great songs) is really great!
Basically all the trolls in one comment: "omg skrillex" "nice dubstep!!11 :)" "darude - sandstorm" "rip knife party they stopped doing dubstep now what will i put in my noscope montages"
