I totally agree with you. I bought a knife from a well-known French knife maker that is completely handmade (he even makes his damascus) and it cost me 600 bucks so I think the price that most knife makers charge for their knives are way too high! Take care, Irène.
Your feelings reflect mine pretty accurately, the custom market just has too many eccentricities for me to really try and navigate, so I just stick with high end production knives. At this point, the quality is so high that I don't really feel like I'm missing out on much besides materials I'm not super interested in (damascus, mokuti).
Great video. Life is too short to be given a line of shit about a knife that is 2Y behind its promised date. Especially when a lot of these guys are selling a dozen or more knives at a knife show on an auction. I buy a fair amount of customs, but I simply wrote a script which crawls the web for deals. IOW I have also given up on maker's books. The USN is ridiculous with the suckass fanboyism. Thanks for the honesty.
I have 1 custom knife and it is a John W Smith and he was a pleasure to deal with. I agree with you and know that is not always the case. I like watching your videos.

Well said brother. Bad combination of Kool-Aid drinking boy band fans and self-important makers out there right now. Still some great makers as well, ones that keep to their word and make your order in a timely fashion.
+semperfiknives .. do u have any other "special" blades ur trying to get rid of ?.. im looking to thin out my collection , and have only CRK , Hinderer , etc. ... and get rid of all the Spidies and ZTs etc. ... so if u or anyone u kno is interested in trades , let me kno.. everything i own is AUTHENTIC(NO CLONES) and i would trade multiple Spidies or ZTs for 1 CRK or a custom .. or even just an older blade thats kind of hard to get (like that Les George Talos for example ) ?? 🤔
