Hey folks, some new stuff here for 2010. After a full replacement VOX unit on my dash, I decided to look into some new tech toys that would give Kitt that......UMPHF that he was missing. :-) I've got some new add ons coming this summer as well.
Thanks to all the great comments you guys and gals have been sending me over the years. I hope you enjoy this video as much as the other ones.

Thats pretty cool, this is something we don't see here in the uk. I remeber being on i think it was knight customs site where they do kitt cars. That voice module is fantastic. It really is a collectors item, i'm now 30 and i remember watching knight rider as a kid, my friend brought the dvd set and i was watching them again, brought back many memories. It really is the coolest car of all time. I know from just working on cars you've spent alot of time and money on her! Credit to you

I really love what you have done with this car. I would love to do one myself, but doubt it anytime soon. However, being a car guy and computer guy, I am thinking about geeking out my 05 Pontiac Montana with an in car PC and maybe some KITT reminiscent features, among other stuff. Actually planning to build the PC indoors now, during some of the cold weather downtime.

Thanks for the nice words. The dash started out all primer, and needed trimming in the proper places. It was "by no means" a brand new dash. Quite the contrary, rather rough and pitted with holes. I developed a "block and glass" method for attaching in the electronics securely. For the most part, the multiple components fit rather well. The top count down is indeed a difficult part to find. They are available on Ebay, and through various vendors. Thanks bud. Mike

Thanks for the nice words. And yes, it would be possible to have a starter engage at the end of the start up sequence. You would need a relay tied into your automatic starter setup, but it would work. The final circuit on the start up sequence would trigger your relay, then trigger your automatic start. I haven't pursued any kind of automatic start since my Kitt is a 5 speed. :-) Thanks again.

I enjoy your videos, im in the midst of trying to decide between a season 1/2 dash or season 3/4. Im thinking of doing 1/2 for the 2 t.v's so I can run the camera on one and some programming like in your new video on the other. Keep up the good work!

That's awesome. I worked on my buddy's Delorean that we converted into the BTTF Time machine and it's a pretty sweet car.....just not much room left inside after all the conversion parts are added. Still though....it is awesome to drive. :-)

Lol. The Ghostbuster Waching machine is actually one of Ecto 1's magnets we use to use before we put vinyls on the actual car I built. I was at KR Fest '09, but won't be able to make the 2010 show.

Believe it or not, it's just a plain jane car alarm system. What makes it special, is an aftermarket alarm siren that replaces your stock siren. Do a search for a SkyTek Alarm Siren. They're all over Amazon, and pretty affordable. I've recently installed another one in a buddy's AutoBot conversion. So when he arms, disarms, and sets off his alarm, it's all Transformer sound effects. :-)

It's remarkably easy to drive with actually. It has a very natural feel to be honest. And it really didn't take that much getting use to. Like I said, quite natural feeling. :-)

Thanks. And you're right. The doors were in bad shape back then. I had to replace the bushings in the door hinges. Now they sound like a brand new car when the doors shut. It's unfortunate, but every third gen Trans Am and Camaro had that problem. The doors weigh a ton, and General Motors put crappy copper bushings in that got crushed under the weight. Par for the course for these 30 year old cars. :-)

Thank you. And yes, the car is street legal, at least it is in N.E. Oklahoma. My Kitt car has many features and gadgets that may be considered NOT legal in many states. But since the car is licensed, insured, and registered as a show vehicle.....I think I have certain liberties I can get away with. Also, this video is several years old now. Since this video, there has been many more things added to the car as well. :-)

You are absolutely right. But you know what..... this isn't old Kitt. This is my representation of The Knight Industries Two Thousand. This is what Universal would use if they had Kitt make a cameo appearance in a new Knight Rider. :-) And I'll tell yah.... I lost interest in the old GM Delco radios along time ago. heh heh. Any basic alarm will do to begin with. Once you have an alarm (of your choice installed) you can add a ScyTek Siren. They're all over amazon. It replaces the stock "siren" that came with your alarm. Only this new one, allows for mp3 or wav files to be added of your choice. Then a program called CarTunes helps you upload them to your new siren. I'd do some research as well on ScyTeks website. I think they have a full system setup now. :-)

hey i got my mp3 scytec siren and i am unsure how to hook it up to my viper alarm, i tried, but it just constantly went off when i tried. do you have to plug it into your computer before you hook it up? the program for it always says for the usb status as "demo mode no usb detected" so i dont know how to put sounds on it

@fenyx2709 The car alarm is actually just a basic "Hornet" Alarm. Kinda like the low end Viper alarm systems. The audio is achieved from the siren itself. It's called an MP3 Alarm Siren made by Skytec. You can hook it to any existing car alarm and replace the stock siren. The MP3 alarm siren can attach to a USB port, then you can upload any sound you want for your car alarm sounds. :-)

It's a collection I started putting together in the 90s. The disc is available along with custom Knight Rider acrylics on my website. Could you please explain how to do the Car alarm? I mean how to re program the sounds and all?.. I bought a new Mustang 2013 and I would like to get an alarm like this.. I am a digital video/audio editor, just need to see how you edit the sounds. Please???? Thanks. ^.^

I actually do have a proximity sensor for my alarm system that can indeed be wired into the overall setup, and also allow me additional phrases to be said like, "Welcome back Michael" or any of the 4000 Kitt sayings I have. LoL. Sometime soon it will be added, just feeling a wee bit too lazy right now. :-)

I've long since debated adding the handle LEDs....but reluctantly.....I've decided against it. At this time.....I really don't want to cut the holes in the door to achieve the look of the handle LEDs. I've seen something that would also work....but at this point....it's an add on I've not yet gone with. :-) Maybe one day.

I could definitely have the doors to open by themselves with the use of actuators that "are" available for self opening doors. Typically they are used for the handicap. However, the self drive would not be plausible since my Kitt is a standard. The amount of wires and servos to achieve this would probably be a bit overboard for my Kitt. Interesting thought.....but I'll stick to driving him myself. :-) Peace man. Mike

@forid200 I'm not using any software, as I stated in this video, the sound clips are put into a folder on my iphone, and my iphone is communicating with my stereo and my dash via a blue tooth extender. Don't know what software you are talking about??

How do you download or add KITT voices to your phone or computer?. I use ITunes to sync music to phone with iphone

I took my library of Kitt audio, and synch'd it to my Iphone using Itunes of course, but in addition, I used an audio video software title called Sony Vegas to add 30 sec of blank audio to the end of the track. That way I can key up the necessary file, and stop it, then choose another before it runs together with the following tracks. You can also use Sharepod to synch the audio files to your Iphone. Not as good....but Itunes can be a pain in the arse from time to time.

I was thinking you should wire a dual zone proximity sensor (directed electronics ''clifford'' makes them) to your alarm or to your voice module so that if anyone gets close kitt can warn them off. I've been watching a few on here which have the voice recognition software quite funny. I soppose it would be nice to have kitt say different things if a thief ignored the first responce like i've warned you once, you leave me no choice followed by kitts dial tones.

+Steve Martinez Thank you. My alarm isn't all that fancy.....it's just a Hornet Alarm system. What is unique, is the fact that I have a programmable MP3 siren attached to it. It's a Scytek Programmable Alarm siren. Works in Universal mode and will adapt and connect to any basic car alarm. It just replaces the stock siren. You basically connect it to a computer, then copy the files you want directly to the siren. The way the MP3 files are named is what ties them into the alarm triggers. Like AUX 1 and AUX 2, PANIC, ARM, DISARM, etc etc. I don't know if that company offers them anymore.....but just do a google search for Programmable Alarm Siren. There are others out there too. :-)

Thanks. The models I've found are made to work in a universal mode that can be tied into your current car alarm features. I do know that some programmable sirens aren't truly programmable. The manufacturer calls it that, but they've already done the programming. Just gotta do some lookin. :-)

I have a programmable Scytek Alarm siren running in universal mode on my Hornet Car Alarm. Simple setup really. Just replace the chirps and alarm sounds with whatever MP3 you want in it's place. And I offer the entire collection of KR MP3s on my Plastics website. As well as blackouts and various plastics. www.charodonplastics.com The Mp3s are all individually ripped by me, then put on a DVD Data disc for storage. I use a blue tooth setup for my Kitt's personality. :-)

@oohretababy The alarm system I have is just a regular Viper model....that's not what controls the car's speech and sound effects though when I arm and dis arm him. I purchased a SKYTEK MP3 Programmable siren that can attach to any existing car alarm setup, then all you do is change the sound effects you want your alarm to have by uploading them from your computer. The SKYTEK company also makes a full blown alarm setup...but I just purchased the siren upgrade. Hope this helps. :-)

Great vid!! I'm curious about about a few things. You got your Dash from Mark's and electronics from Jupiter, did you have any issues the fit? Also I can't seem to find the dash top electronics (power on, ignition, etc) above the voicebox. And lastly, those cool ass diagnostic animations, where'd you get those?? I got the green light from my wife to build myself a KITT and while I scout for a candidate car I'm gonna be getting all my pieces! Thanks a ton for the info and the videos!!

@forid200 I think I understand what you're asking....but watch the video again, especially the part when I'm sitting in Kitt. My iphone's library is holding all the Kitt sounds.....I trigger the time for the car to respond, and it's all pumped through the blue tooth extender that's wired into the stereo and dash. Think of the car as a puppet, me as the puppeteer, and my iphone as the strings........still confused....watch the video again bud. :-)

@monorail100 My Kitt does have a voice recognition feature, but It's only reliable when surrounding variables are cooperating. Like noise, loud music, and controlled situations. That's why I utilize a Blue Tooth extender so I can help to control his responses when I'm at shows. I don't see my Kitt driving by itself any time soon.....it would be possible.....just not very probable. Peace man. Mike

I have a plastics website that you may see referenced in many of my videos here. I sell the tail light blackouts and the scanner lenses. In addition, I offer a DVD Data CD that has nearly all the Kitt, Karr, button and beeps, and other KR related sound clips all on it. Over 3000 individual files. @rb59astro Thanks for the nice words. As far as the door LEDs you are asking about, you may try looking at some of the Knight Rider message boards, or the communities that are online. Since I can't put in a web address here, try looking up a Knight Rider website called "The Foundation" or "The Registries" Both are excellent sources of info filled with very talented people. No problem, but first off, let me say that my alarm system in Kitt is just a plain Jane Hornet style alarm system. It's the programmable alarm siren that makes the magic happen with arming and disarming my alarm. You remove your stock alarm siren, and replace it with this one. Then add your own sayings and wire the siren to your existing alarm. Do an Amazon search for MP Programmable Siren, under the brand name SCYTEK. Should be about 50 bucks off their site. :-)

how would i buy an MP3 alarm siren? i tried buying one and my money is being refunded, because the seller said they don't make them anymore, but i really want one! im unsure if the Galaxy brand of this system is available in the market or not, but if you can inform me of how i would go about getting one of the MP3 player sirens it would be most appriciated
