This was David Hasselhoff's wish as the series finale but NBC needed rating so they moved this up instead of making it the last episode. All true fans like us Knight Rider freaks treat and watch this as the last episode. Cause it is....
They should officially past a law in Congress making this one the official last ending and enacting a UN resolution so it will be recognised the World over as *the LAST episode*
All the episode with Patricia were great, as were the ones with the Garth Knight charater (as you pointed out) and so were the ones with KARR. This show may not go down as the greatest, but it was a hell of allot of fun to watch.
McMahonHater No, they weren’t. Not entirely in Seasons 3-4. *She* was great, but the writing and David weren’t. He barely turned in an acceptable performance in those last two years, that wasn’t absurdly over-the-top and awfully bad.
This particular episode wasn't JUST Michael marrying Stevie; it was actually the real wedding setup for David Hasselhoff's wedding & marriage to Catherine Hicks, who played the part of Stevie. It was sad, bittersweet, & much darker in the aftermath than most of the episodes except for those involving Stevie & when Bonnie was kidnapped, to name a few. White Bird is a fav song of mine. Stevie/Hicks paraphrases the poem Scent of the Roses but it's still beautiful & one worthy of remembering.
If someone hurts my wife, I'll say the same thing to the defendant at court. We don't have the death penalty here in Austria. A life sentence means 15 - 20 years, even more, when security lockup is sentenced. A lifetime sentence is harder to bear, than the death penalty. Sure, lifers have to be fed and sheltered, but they have to deal with their crimes in their present life, Death row inmates have to deal with the crime in the afterlife, and I hope, Q will take care of them.

when ever I watch all knight Rider episodes I alway watch as this as last ever episode even though tv networks like ITV aired half way through saeson 4, the DVD box set it is listed midway the actual last episode was Voodoo Knight well on the DVD at least but is should have Sent of Roses
I miss to watch the late Edward Mulhare as Devon Miles & Patricia Mc Pherson as Bonnie Barstow.They are great to b together as Michael Knight(David Hasselhoff) partner.
Finally I come across the title of this chapter, after years not sure which one it was!!! The best of all from the series, to my view! Michael´s bride murder, his revenge... just astonishing. Thank you very much for posting it. I think it could make such a wonderful movie... if they still used the TransAm (rather than the boring and so well-known Ford Mustang) and some famous actor (if not Hasselhoff himself again, and other than those "plain, flat" boys who look so alike to each other...)
The set of The Scent of the Rose was also his wedding to Patricia Hickland although IRL she wasn't murdered but their TV wedding scene was actually sort of a cover for their actual wedding. - the dress, cake, Michael's tux, etc... I can't recall if they said he and Patricia married before the scene shoot or afterward but it WAS their REAL WEDDING.
I watched the episode last night on Netflix. This definately should have been the series finale, but I guess the producers thought the series had a few more seasons left.
+Romulan2469 Yes but in this case, it was more personal as Durant had killed Michael's long lost love Stevie right after he'd married her. He was clearly trying to punch Durant to death in anger, which was why KITT said he wouldn't be able to live with himself.
Were also forgetting that Michael gets criticaly shot at the beginning and gets rushed to the hospital. While lying in the hospital bed, the killer's partner attempts to strangle him. Fortanetly, KITT alerts the hospital someone is in his room. And worse, the killer uses a remote controlled airplane filled with explosives to blow up Michael and Stevie's house in an attempt to kill them both.
The music is very intense all throughout this ep. If Michael had died in this ep which he almost did, KITT would have killed the guy himself.

I know you wrote this 11 years ago, but damn. That sounds awesome. Michael gets injured or almost dies and KITT goes rogue (KARR-like) and kills a lot of bad guys, maybe injures innocent people in the process, Bonnie somehow manages to disable him in the end and KITT gets destroyed/dismantled... Only reason why it wouldn't work is the main principle that he can't take a human life. Which is funny because he hurts a lot of people, like these guys in this episode:)
@hyrman , I had for a while thought this was the last episode of Knight Rider , I had seen this during the original run of the series. they should have switched Vooddo Knight and this episode around. I agree that this episode should have been the last episode. It would have explained better why Michael left the foundation in the Reunion movie.
The actress you mention above is named HICKLAND. Catherine Hickland was a popular soap actress in the 1980s. She now lives in Las Vegas and performs a hypnosis act. There is an actress named Catherine Hicks, However, she never performed in a KR episode.
Because Michael said to the bad guy named Durante who was on the other end of the CB radio, "You got 1 hour then the hunts on again". After Michael throws down the CB thing, he says to the guy in the car shop "you got 59 minutes" I think because it was a minute since he hung up with Durante.
This was my childhood! Whatever I was doing Saturday afternoon stopped when Knight rider came on the telly! I've heard rumours of a movie with the Hoff back at the wheel?? That would be interesting
"Michael, Michael, stop it! You wouldn't be able to live with yourself!" That's another reason why I think "The Scent of Roses" should have been the final episode of Knight Rider. It shows that KITT has come a long way since the pilot episode, "Knight of the Phoenix", and has become more human. In the earlier episodes if Michael was punching the s**t out of a guy, KITT would have just let him get on with it.
Exactly. Since it seemed obvious that the show was going to be axed with Season 4, they could have at least given it a decent finale instead of "Voo Doo Knight".

trytthisnow Yep. Cheap, throwaway sound dubbing, done in a mere 2 days. The true industry standard time for effects editing, to keep the overall audio of a show fresh and different on a weekly basis, is 4-5, sometimes even 6. That was applicable to “Airwolf” and later “24”.

@happy7117 After Michael threw the bad guy into the car, Michael should have had KITT do what KARR almost did in KITT vs KARR with the blond girl-which is turn the car into an oven by raising the temperature untill the villian passes out.

This is pretty awesome by the way . . these guys have NO way of knowing KITT is virtually indestructable so, instead of shooting Michael with guns, they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on MISSILES!!! A very true & real scenario I'm sure we can all identify with when we feel someone has wronged us in some way. & though anger & revenge is completely understandable, but as KITT said, if he killed Durant out of anger & revenge for him killing Stevie, Michael would never be able to live with himself. & not only that, killing Durant would not have brought back Stevie, lol. :( - But when you encounter people like that in your life, you have to remember no matter how angry you feel, you do not want to stoop to their level, lol.
I read that Michael fought to have this as the series finale, which I completely agree it should have been. But NBC changed up the order and made the series finale some generic episode. Big mistake.
It was :) At least the first time they aired it. (you can check at knightrider-hu). Later they could have found out the right order, but first time it was all scrambled up, and the guys at the channell had to make up an order for the episodes, cause Universal didn't send the episode list. They did a pretty decent job, including putting Scent Of Roses the last :) [I'm hungarian too, but you know... we're on 'international waters' :D ]
You should've let this play till the end, when Michael says "We're going home Kitt, back to the family....... We're going to the Foundation" Shakes head in disbelief...... 😕 😕 😕 😕
Thanks for the correction of the name. I have brain fog from Lupus (SLE) & Sjogren's Disease so this helped considerably. I don't know why the name Hicks stuck in my head. I remembered her as Hickland b/c I was a bit upset when I heard they split up considering the chemistry they had on the show as a couple. I don't care for his 2nd wife; the times she showed up on Baywatch & KR, she always struck me as being a bitch in real life, not so w/Catherine Hickland. She seems more caring & cordial.
Christ almighty, this was terrible to re-watch. Although I should feel lighter (after all, I just lost a good chunk of my childhood) I feel all the heavier for it.
