For me, KARR, the evil "twin" (or, to be more precise, the "older brother") of KITT is certainly one of the best characters created in the series! So much so that it is a pity that he did not become a more frequent character and did not appear in more episodes !
I agree, however I do think if KARR or Garthe Knight appeared more frequently, their popularity may have gotten a bit stale after a while. So it was probably best to just have them appear in 2 episodes each. Plus the Hoff was getting bit tired playing duel roles. Pity we never got an episode with KARR and Garthe together.
Garth and KARR would make a good team! lol P.S In KITT vs KARR is there another episdoe with KARR in? In the last part of that episode KARRs CPU survived.
Hahaha. I wish KITT would have said "Michael, isn't this the time where you usually kiss your passenger". That would have made things so uncomfortable that it would have been hilarious.
But it's Bonnie, a mother-like person for Kitt. If it was anyone else, then sure, I think Michael even wouldn't need a push from Kitt either, but with Bonnie, that would maybe ruin Kitt's "childhood" lol.
This just occured to me, after seein this episode too many times. I am sure other people thought this too, I don't know. But, if K.A.R.R. was so bent on self-preservation, why didnt he just Turbo Boost over K.I.T.T.? LOL
he is the voice of karr in the new knight rider,,however he wasnt the voice of the second karr episode of the 80's show, the second episode was voiced by Paul Frees
My own explanation is that KARR fell on some kind of boat that exploded and the pieces we saw flying were from this boat. Maybe the boat had depthcharges like the one from Return to Cadiz (loved that episode). In KITT vs. KARR John was telling Mandy about treasure hunters exploring off the coast. Maybe they used depth charges. Who knows.
Damn! Why couldn't they have used this explanation in "KITT vs. KARR"? Then viewers wouldn't have been scratching their heads as to how KARR survived the explosion in "Trust Doesn't Rust".
Now karrs got rid of his partner in crime, how will he look after himself? What if he runs out of petrol? Can't make anyone do anything for him then. I must admit, although karr is the most dislikeable of the two, he is the most compelling, and his presence brings a bit more to the series
@@astrochaos4182 WOW, that's been awhile. Yeah, now I know a lot more about KR, thanks to the KR Historians. That's funny, yours is like the second comment in a few days that I've gotten from a comment I posted over 10 years ago.
I found the script at the Knight Rider Archive. Go to the website and then to the scripts section and click on Trust Doesn't Rust. Scroll all the way to the bottom and you'll see the lines for the scene that wasn't filmed (where KITT plays a video of himself talking to KARR).
I heard there was a script for a scene that was never taped where at the end of the episode (when they show KITT alone in the semi) a "brotherly" message from KARR was playing on KITT's audio player saying that being one of a kind is good but 2 of a kind is even better.
I liked the yellow one better too, but the sound effect of his red scanner (sounded scarier). It made KARR look different on the exterior. I liked KARR when he was all black, though something about the gray lower half just made him seem so evil.
You know, it makes me wonder if the reason why Peter Cullen didn't voice KARR in Season 3's episode, K.I.T.T. vs K.A.R.R. was because he may have been too busy voicing Optimus Prime when the Transformer cartoon series started airing around the time.
If you stop the vid at 4:04, you can clearly see that it isn't the Transam they are dropping. More like an old, classic car. One thing I noticed about an year ago, when I watched the whole episode on video rental. I guess they didn't want to destroy the good old F-body in one episode. :P I know, you all probably knew about it but.
Such a pity we never got an episode with KARR and Garthe Knight teaming up together against Michael and KITT. Though we did get a treat of them teaming up in the two Knight Rider PS2/PC games which was awesome (even though they weren't voiced by the original actors).
First, KARR turned right, KITT made hard left going the other way. Second, they don't even wearseatbelts... Go figure... Third, KITT could also eject Michael out and take control... But he trusts his jugement... Forth, KARR's only weak spot is on the peak of his nose, right where he crashed and also what they where aiming with the laser at the begining of the video... And finaly, it IS a tv show, it's not meant to be taken seriusly!! Just enjoy it!!!
Yeah I remember noticing that as a kid when I saw it. Not that I knew it was reused footage, but that it was a completely different car. I just thought they drove a cheaper car off the cliff. Didn't think about reused footage. It really spoils it though. Especially the way they bring him back in one piece .
val kilmer is the voice of KITT in the new knight rider william daniels was the old KITT in the 80's series in the 80's series peter cullen was the voice of KARR in the first KARR episode 'trust doesnt rust' Paul Frees was the voice of KARR in the second episode 'kitt vs karr'
That's what I love about the 80's. Cheesy action scenes and awful acting were still cool. I can't believe I wasted so much time watching this crap, but nonetheless it was fun. It seems like all that was need to keep 80s kid entertained was to blow shit up.
Great episode. But don't you agree that KARR is more evil in kitt v karr.. By the way KARR does not use turbo boost because he wants to finish michael and kitt off. Evil goes a little blind when it wants to destroy.
Would it have killed someone in editing to do a better job with the clip of a car driving off a cliff that was obviously from a completely different movie? The M-80 blowing up in a pool of water was really convincing too.
there was an episode that kitt had rockets installed, there was a dam that gushed and kitt fired off into a canyon to landslide a temporary dam to stop the water. thet footage was from "Superman", hoover dam scene.. wtf
Probably one of the best episodes. "I DO NOT WANT TO GO TO THE SLAMMER" Ironically Cullen starts off his voice career with a car/robot but is most famous for his truck/robot persona.
they screwed up that shot. When karr first launched he was jumping over kitt. When they cut to the descent, he was landing over a police van and two cruisers...:)
the car falling from the cliff is from the movie 'the car' (gr8 movie). this kitt vs karr clash is gr8 . gr8 music , dialogue and even humour and makes the kitt vs karr from the 2009 episode look childish.
if you look at more stuff ...they changed it to a yellow GLOW and because of the first Voice over guy dieying they used the same guy voice over Who did trnsformers ....mate ..the first night rider CAN rebuilt it self.....and i diid... With the new Night rider MUSTANG ..mate it does look good ...im from UK london so america has all te new stuff...comes to uk later....... On another note...check out Doctor who....or touchwood good britsh tv serriers to watch
The first voice over guy didn't die, since the first voice over guy is this here - Peter Cullen, the great Optimus Prime guy. The second voice over guy (Paul Frees) died. But I'm certain, they used Peter Cullen for the 2008 reboot for other reasons than the death of the second voice over guy. Nice try to explain, but done the wrong way. Next time do some research, the first actor, that did the voice over of Karr was this guy, who's still alive and works on those live action Transformers movies.
Third, when KITT decides it is too risky, switches to AUTO Cruise, and takes control of himself, we are supposed to believe that all Michael has to do is push a button and he regains control of the vehicle? Why didn't KITT lock out that button so it wouldn't work? Fourth, instead of driving off a freaking cliff, why didn't KARR either swerve left into the median or turbo boost over KITT? And finally, KARR is indestructable because of his molecular bonded shell, so why did he explode into pieces?
Kitt might have locked the button, we saw, that Michael pushed a lot of buttons mostly on the ceiling of Kitt (probably an unlocking sequence), before taking back control of Kitt. Michael played chicken with Karr, definitely betting on his programming flaw to preserve himself. Karr's logic ordered him to avoid a direct collision with the equal force (he and Kitt are both made from the same material + bonded shell and stuff), so he made a turn and because Kitt turned left, he was left with the opposite direction, that lead to the cliff. Why didn't Karr used Turbo Boost at that moment? Maybe predicted, that Michael would use it too and they'd collide in the air, so he rather turned on the ground.
Turbo boost is an exessive speed boost which, combined with a ramp, is translated into a jump. It doesn't make the car jump... If KARR used Turbo Boost, he would just fall into KITT faster!! And, as far as I know, there are no ramps in the highway! :P
In the Knight Rider universeTurbo Boost always translated as jump, with or without a ramp. There are in most cases no ramps, when Kitt turbo boosted. So it really means jump. In this episode, when Karr jumps (and later Kitt does the exact same), over the cop cars, there is no ramp anywhere. Of course, while filming the stunt, they used ramps, but in the story, Turbo Boost always means doing a jump from null, ramp or not. Even the 2008 reboot uses Turbo Boost as jump device, moving the exhaust pipes down and pumping some nitrogen or what out of them under pressure, launching the car in the air in the process. The original didn't even try to explain, how it works.
KARR looks better with the yellow Glow...amd Sliver sides..... yes can hear the diffrence From Peter and paul........you can never destroy KARR...You can never destroy..a machine that can rebuilt him self....
from wikipedia: "KARR indeed swerves out of the way, but unable to stop in time: he drives off a cliff and seemingly explodes in the ocean (using footage of the climactic scene from the 1977 film The Car, footage that was also used for KITT on a couple of other occasions)."
@GTAIVFan17 I know - Garth and KARR VS Mcihael and KITT - I used to say that as a kid!! KARR would never have gotten along with Garth - They wouldve been too evil 4 each other!!! To answer ur other question there was never a follow up 2 that - I guess the producers like 2 keep options open!!
