A Knight-Rider USB charger I modded by adding colored acrylic lenses and by painting the lines between the voice box leds to simulate original bar-graph led voice display.
I did the same thing to mine, just painted between the LED segments black. Looks 1000x better. I just wish it had the countdown startup sequence, or that the vox could respond to the car speakers, etc
@Geoffrey Lane Yes. It is called The Real Kitt. It uses William Daniels clips from the show and will interact with you from thirty or so programmed questions or statements. It also has the dashboard start-up sound-effects when it starts.

Great job, I had a similar idea, I was wondering when someone would do this! But, I don't understand what you sanded and painted black to make it look better, could you explain more in detail? Did you sand the screen inside of the led plastic or what? Thanks!
If you open the unit, you will discover three narrow red lenses that imitate KITT's voice LED's. Backed by a plastic molded piece that isolates the light coming from smaller leds on a circuit board. I sanded those lenses with 2000 grit, then painted them black and wiped off the paint leaving it only in the grooves between the Fake LED's molded in the lenses. This creates the illusion of actual, separate Leds in stacks like the original tv display had. I finished it by adding transparent red colored acrylic overlays on the exterior to enhance the color of the displays as well as add the glossy look of the original display openings.
You may be missing the point. This is a decorative usb charger. IT was designed to mimic KITT's voice box as a novelty, but primarily it was and still is an effective 12-volt to usb adapter.
