I have these pliers and they are incredible. No more stripped fasteners. You will never use a crow's foot wrench for brake lines again. 10/10 would recommend
I haven't touched my channel-locks ever since I bought my cobras. I have a feeling the raptors are going to find their way into my tool box soon. Great review.
Much awaited review of raptor pliers from your side. I loved watching it. In catalogue, its written this plier locks onto bolts more than 17mm. No need to squeeze handles. I wish you do every knipex review...love watching your videos.
Very nice tools! I've purchased multiple knipex pliers after watching your videos, my personal favourite is the pliers wrench, but the raptors are great for alignments. Im always using the pliers wrench for exhaust work, removing 02 sensors, egt sensors, etc without spending time a bunch of time trying to find the right size of wrench makes life easy. Keep up the good work with the videos!!
Thanks for the video ... a co-worker lent me his, and I KNEW I had to have a set. Your video was concise, and informative... I just ordered one from your link to Amazon, above.
Thanks for the video !! I never paid much attention to the Knipex brand because I thought I could do the same work with other brands like Channelock but I'm sold on the superiority of Knipex. I'm getting these Raptors for when I do alignments at work, won't have to worry about messing up tir rods. Thanks!
@@davidbrooks3652 He pronounces it correctly. Knipex's own marketing material pronounces it K-nipex. They pronounce it K-neepex if the narrator has a german accent.
I was starting to get buyers remorse for buying these, but thanks to you I no longer do just have to realise they're a speciality item for certain situations handy to have in toolbox as a just incase.
I got a pair of the Knipex needle nose pliers from Lowes a few years ago. They are still my favorite pair to this day. I actually lost my 1st pair of these on a job, and loved them so much, went out and bought another pair the next day. Anyways, great review bro
Great pliers I do not have the raptor model yet According to the video that you showed to us ist very reliable tool on tight spaces Great video thanks for that.
I own a lot of Knipex, but somehow missed these. I'm installing copper propane lines and using 2 adjustable wrenches has been a pain. Just ordered a pair of these and should have them in time to test leaks in the system. Anyway, great video!
Because it has a flat sides,it seems like a handy tool to have available....but will NOT replace my Channellock griplock pliers for round shafts or rounded over bolt heads....plus for the price you get a set of three from Challellock (about 31 bucks for three sizes on amazon)
+Bill Lewis Well, the only other ones that I know of (widely used) similar to these are the Channellock Nutbusters.....but they have teeth, so the two pliers will perform differently depending on what you are working on.
FrankenDoc , parrotpliers are used on tiles, i got a pair just for doing up the bathroom. Yes, Knipex. Again. 40 years old now and still in my toolbox.
How do you compare the raptors vs the wrench-pliers? When do you use one or the other, which do you use more? If you could only have one which would it be; I'm trying to decide?
I'd really like to see either a four or six-inch set of these with the same jaw capacity for a motorcycle/ATV/Snowmobile tool kit. It would replace all the wrenches both metric and SAE. Guess I could pick up a used pair and cut down the handles.
I think some of those things are knit picky stuff. I've never used a ratcheting wrench before. I've always just turned the fastener and had to reset posistion it. I think its the same thing with those pliers
Real Tool Reviews I read a casual AMA on Reddit a few months ago from a guy who works on the QA line for Knipex, and he's sorta hates them-- because their QA is so strict and he basically throws away tools all day long that are 99.8% fine. *Oh, a tiny burr? BZZT. Oh, a tiny distortion in the clamp? BZZT. Oh, jaw has a tiny imperfection in the grind? BZZT.*
Ha! Is there anyone who doesn't have a pair of those Craftsman wrenches? Awesome review and you had me sold wen you loosened the 4 wheeler alignment nut and ddnt leave a mark.
Do you think with similar length bar over the handles If locked On a grade 8 bolt they could tear the head off? Assuming they could be squeezed hard enough and enough leverage. Like the Flank drive style open ends. Looks like they have three surfaces vs two from snap on and wright grip. Four from SK if I recall. The large cobras also could prob give the bolt a run for its money.
Good review as always. I'd really like to see a comparison of these compared to the Knipex Pliers, it seems they would do many similar jobs, so would be good to get a comparison. Also I'd like to see a comparison of the Comfort Grips, the standard Grips and the VDE Electrical rated grips. You cover a little about the grips here, but a more detailed comparison would be a good video. It's quite amazing that you almost never "Um" and "arrr" in your videos, unlike a lot of others. It must be really hard, do you use a script or have lots of bloopers edited?! Thanks.
Thanks! I dont have any VDE grips, but I will see what I can do. Also --- umm, err, or other noises like that greatly annoy me.....I take a lot of time to #1 - think about what I want to say, #2 - set up the correct angles to show what I am talking about, & #3 - edit the clips together to make things flow well. I am glad you appreciate that. (also --- no scripts....I have tried, it doesnt work. Everything flows naturally as I speak in person). Thanks for watching!
Great review. If you had the choice, would you buy these over the Kinipex Plier Wrenches? They basically have the same application, but these feel like they are more versatile. Thanks!
+Riza Khan If I had to pick one, I would get the Pliers Wrench, since they are more useful in other situations. They do similar things, but not the same things......for what these do, it is fairly unique. I would suggest your Knipex purchases in the following order ---- 1. Cobras, 2. Pliers Wrench, 3. Raptors.
I wish I had a pair of these to remove the power steering pressure hose of my car the flair nut at the bottom just won't give in and I don't have much space. I just don't want to break anything. I'll see if I can get me a pair soon to see if the help me.
I think I just kept working at it after using some breaking fluid. I have heard that they are great though, I would buy them along with some breaking fluid. If you have rust just let it soak for a bit.
+Michael Fender Thanks Michael..... These physically wedge together, clamping both sides.....where the pliers wrench will clamp down with equal force on each side through a cam action. They are both useful, but totally different designs. I think that both work great, but for different applications --- and the Raptors only come in one size (currently).
@@RealToolReviews Also, I think the plier wrench may sometimes need more than one adjustment for proper ratcheting action, while these have more tolerance in that respect.
Knipex makes the best pliers. Unfortunately they are no longer available locally in any of my area stores. Every store now carries Milwaukee but I don't like thier pliers and constantly searching for knipex
What do you see as the advantage of these over the Pliers Wrench? They both have the ratcheting action, but the pliers wrench also has the cam for additional clamping force. Also the people correcting your pronunciation must have never watched any videos from Knipex themselves. I still say Nye-pex myself because it flows better / is more fun.

As far as the "K" in Knipex.....I think it is funny how worked up people get. I have heard it pronounced Nip-ex, Nip-pex, Nee-pex, Ka-ni-pex, Nye-pex.......they all mean the same thing, so to each there own ;)
+Real Tool Reviews The people that make Knipex call it Ka-ni-pex so if they built & own the company and call it that then I would say that is the way they want it pronounced but they probably don't care as long as you buy their pliers and are happy with them...I just laugh especially when they say to you the "K" is silent. I own 85% Snap-on, @15% OTC, Lisle, Starrett, etc but when it comes to pliers Knipex is the best and are in my box. Great reviews!
The Nutbusters will tear up anything they are going to take off. The Raptors can take off a tough fastener and still be able to use that fastener again. 3/8 - 1 1/4 will cover a large range of sizes and being adjustable, it can fit tighter on a fastener than even a high quality wrench because fixed open end wrenches have to allow for slightly varying tolerances between fastener manufacturers. I have the Nutbusters but I'm now considering the Raptors as well.
I agree with you on protecting the fastener, as long as it hasn't already been rounded off the raptors could still utilize the flats. My main concerns are the large head needing clearance around the fastener, the length of the handles in tight spaces and the jaws only going down to 3/8". If they made a smaller version I'd definitely be interested, I'm considering the Channellock Nutbuster 307's for those reasons.
theomnipresent1 Ah the smaller Nutbuster, I could see that. At that size I would consider the Knipex 8603180 7-Inch Pliers Wrench. But the price difference is quite stark. I'd be curious to see if one offers more leverage. However the pliers wrench would probably see more use as it could pretty much replace an adjustable wrench without the drawback of loosening up and being a bit faster. They do commonly go on sale though since they are very popular.
Next Knipex video start it with saying Knipex can be pronounced several ways but does not affect the quality or performance of their pliers so for this video we will use the pronunciation used by the German manufacturer...holy crap this is not a pronunciation video but a tool review video on pliers made by what I consider probably the best plier manufacturer in the world
That it is! The Knipex design engineers have just taken pliers to a whole new level. My Snap-on pliers hardly get used now with Knipex pliers in the drawer.
Great video as always, Sir! However, I believe we talked about you taking all my money with your reviews. I'm gonna need you to review some crap products for a while to save me some money. :-) Thank you for uploading!
+Robert Johnson Thanks Robert! I hope the Cobras are still working out well for you.....one day you might get the hang of the locking part ;) Or have you....
