Hand knits for men and women in service - that's the promise that my WWII Knitting booklet promised, and that's what it delivered! I set out to make a reproduction of a Canadian V-necked vest (for people serving in the Women's Military Service Corps), and along the way I learned a ton about the fascinating history of the civilian Homefront effort and wartime knitting.
This is only a drop in the water of the amazing history I learned - if you want even more information, I'll be releasing another video with amazing photos, propaganda images, videos and speeches next week, so be sure to subscribe and check back in for that!

This is a video about making a servicewoman's knit vest from a Canadian Red Cross knitting booklet. It touches a bit on historical knitting, specifically about wartime knitting in World War Two with some amazing audio clips from the war years, 1939-1945 both from soldiers on the frontlines as well as civilians on the home front who talk about knitting for the war, and knitting for victory.
