Knitting podcast ep. 19 // Socks, library books, & a MAJOR reset 

I love the library for cookbooks as well as knitting books. If you live in an area where multiple libraries are connected, you can easily request physical books online and the library will borrow from their sister libraries and you can pick up at the local branch. You can also renew physical books online - mine allows me to renew about 10 times or so as long as no one requests it. If I love a book so much and want a personal copy, I'll get it from Better World Books where they have Like New quality books at a really great price.

I would totally recommend asking your librarian to order some knitting books if there are some you want to see there! I’m a librarian and I loved ordering books people request! Your library could also get you books from other libraries if you want! I always loved reading the knitting books before they went to the stacks 😂

oooh I have a friend who is reading the Red Rising books right now and he is constantly reminding me to add it to me reading list. I think you and I have similar taste in books bc I'm a fantasy lover too, so hearing you also like the Red Rising books makes me even more excited! I'm glad you are being kind to yourself and letting projects go/allowing yourself to take things slow. It's easy to get swept up in the over-productive nature of society. I'm glad I watched this because I've been frustrated and stressed about a tank that I keep messing up and hanging to rip back. The yarn is splitty so I don't know how much it can take. But it's good to remember this is for fun.

I recently frogged a project also and it's so liberating! Thanks for the Snackable Bakes recommendation. I've borrowed the ebook from my library and I think those scones are in my near future.

I'm knitting on my cumulus tee - knitting totally off gauge as usual so at this point it's a v-neck raglan of my own design, loosely based on the cumulus tee. 😂 I juuuust cast off my moon set tee literally during this video and then went back to my cumulus. So so happy to finish something wooo!

I just recently started checking knitting books out at the library. It's so nice! I haven't thought of cookbooks, though - I'll have to take your tip on that! I'm finishing up the Summer Top by Jessie Maed Designs - it's a fun knit and only uses 2 skeins for my size.

I’m knitting the Flores sweater by Eri Shimizu. Just knit the whole of the neck edge in twisted 2x1, only to find I forgot to switch to the smaller needles after the gauge swatch. 🐸 It’s fine. It happens. The yarn is lovely - Titus by Ewe baa ram in the colour Heathcliff. It’s now discontinued but made local to me in Linthwaite, West Yorkshire, and yes, you pronounced it correctly 🙌🏼 The names are Yorkshire themed - Titus is named after a local philanthropist millowner, Titus Salt, who built Saltaire for his workers and the colour Heathcliff after Wuthering Heights, of course. For my next knit, you’ve inspired me to try my local library for knitting books. Thanks Carson x

Always love your videos Carson! I’m reading Dune right now (the first one) and going into it I thought it would be way out of my comfort zone (not a huge sci-fi gal) but I am really loving it! It’s one of my husbands favorites and he’s been encouraging me to read it for awhile now. He’s so happy I finally am! And the movie (part 2) is coming out in November!

I have frog guilt too 🐸but I recently frogged two FOs and a WIP and it felt so refreshing. I think I've set a hard expectation that I need to finish a knit to feel ~fulfilled~ but that's not true. There's no rules, it's just for fun!

And we do buy new books ;) I’m the same with the anxiety thing, i love knitting because it helps with my anxiety but it also makes me anxious due to the pressure i put on myself 🤦🏼‍♀️ that’s why i try not to buy more yarn or patterns. I just wanna make it all NOW and stress myself out.

Love your book chat section - I just put a hold on the Red Rising audiobook on Libby per your recommendation. Your description of first person, thickkkk fantasy series makes me wonder if you have dabbled in the wheel of time series. If not, you should give it a try!
