I am a long time crocheter and pretty green knitter, but this video gave me the confidence to pull the trigger on this kit! I've made 2 basic raglan sweaters before and looking at this kit I was incredibly intimidated, but your video was exactly what I needed! I feel very confident in my ability to make this project now! Thank you!

Update on my comment: I just finished knitting mine. Feeling pretty accomplished right now, not to mention that it’s pretty stunning-getting a lot of compliments (would be more but COVD). THANK YOU SO MUCH for this tutorial. Suggestion for those ready to dive in: Note the stitch markers between each pattern repeat. These will save your life, so use them with abandon. A little practice before going “live” on the yoke is very helpful (maybe 20 rows is enough.)

Because you've completed this sweater I was wondering if you tell me why I'm meant to repeat the 59 rows for the yoke 19 times

I made this is a brown Mountain Meadows wool and was entirely through the yoke, which was accidentally perfect, when I discovered the dye lots were very uneven. Should not have been the case within a single dye-lot. I was very disappointed but finished the sweater mixing balls of yarn. In the end it was a course and inappropriate yarn for this elegant pattern. If I were mobbing sheep the yarn would be perfect, but not for Undulating Lines. So I am making another version in a soft Cashmerino blue color. Much happier with this softer, more elegant yarn, but it put me off Mountain Meadow yarns. Dharma Trading, famous for fabric dyes, is my local yarn shop and they were mystified by the uneven dye lots at MM. I may decide to re-dye that sweater but am living with it for the moment. The pattern itself is gorgeous and this video is very helpful. Thank you VeryPink Knits for your clear instructions

Instead of counting just before that bind-off on the bottom, could you put a lifeline in the row you need to knit together with that garter stitch row and use that to put each stitch on the needle with the garter one to ktog? (Maybe it doesn’t make it easier, but maybe it would for some people?)

it's beautiful, I really like the fact that the raglan increases don't show! Do you prefer swatching flat even though the pullover is knitting in the round? My purl in the flat is not neat I must say. Thanks for showing this lovely pattern!
@verypinkknits
@verypinkknits 4 года назад
I always swatch flat...if you're using a nice 100% wool yarn like Alpine, it is forgiving enough that you won't have an issue if there is a slight difference in your swatch (knit flat) and the sweater (knit in-the-round).

I have been trying to reach you regarding the "Undulating Line" Pattern, sold by Mountain Meadow Wool. I am confused at the point of German Short rows. 1) When you first begin row 1 of the German Short rows, the pattern calls for 19 stitches, are the remaining stitches of that row worked simultaneously, along each round of knitting. Or are GSR knitted separately from the other stitches called for in the pattern? 2) Also the marker at the beginning of the GSR row (center marker), should the 19 stitches be divided between the center marker or Do I just begin knitting 19 stitches of the GSR at the start of marker of the first GSR row 1?

This is a great sweater and really helpful tutorial. I have a question about your swatch, Staci. It looks like the swatch was knitted in the flat, is that so? I've heard from others that one should swatch in the round for knitting in the round; do you not recommend that, and if not, why?
@verypinkknits
@verypinkknits 4 года назад
I have measured my swatches both ways, and my gauge doesn't really change between the two. I know this about myself, so I always knit flat swatches. Really, with a 100% wool yarn this nice, tiny gauge issues are non-issues. Wool has enough "give" to smooth over small tension issues.
@WendyBarron14

@@verypinkknits Ah! That makes a lot of sense, given how long you've been knitting. Thanks for explaining!
@verypinkknits
@verypinkknits 4 года назад
Sure - but you don't have to be knitting for a long time to know this about your knitting. You can measure your gauge using the same yarn and needle size both flat and in-the-round, and see if there is a difference between the two.

Just wondering why the swatch is knit flat and not in the round? since the sweater is worked in the round shouldn't the swatch match with the construction style?
@verypinkknits
@verypinkknits 4 года назад
My gauge doesn't change between knitting flat and in-the-round, so I don't knit swatches in-the-round.
@verypinkknits
@verypinkknits 4 года назад
I recommend that all knitters check their gauge both ways using the same yarn/needle size - it's a good thing to know about your knitting. Plus, in wool yarn this nice, even if there was a tiny difference in gauge it wouldn't make a difference.
