They make a Vw CV joint for high HP applications. I'm surprised you have been running stock CVs for this long without problems. I have a friend who shattered his CV joints at the drag strip. they were stock CVs. The thing is you probably have more HP than he did
How did you determine which CV Joint needed replacing? Did you just have to remove them and give them a wiggle? Had a CV joint pack in on my old bug and it clicked/clunked whereas on my current 1302S I have a whirring like a wheel bearing. I need to buy the parts first though as once it's apart I won't have a car to go and get them! Can't afford to just buy the lot and then return what I didn't need. Going to check the wheel bearings first though.
Hi Jack, I could feel movement, the axle shaft was moving around in the CV joint but unbolting it confirmed there was lots of movement. Wheel bearings are easy to check and should be repacked while you have it apart anyway
