Still waiting for someone to tear down a Skyactiv G 2.0 (PE-VPS) that's in my 2016 ND Miata so I can relate, But I guess it'd have to fail first for that to happen lmao. I have a 2014 Acura TSX with less than 75k miles on the clock. Bought it used a few years ago with about 60k miles after my last TSX got totaled in a wreck, been daily driving this car for years now and has never failed me, not even 1 time, let my sister borrow it for a while and she did many long trips in it with her and her cats and it never left her on the side of the road either. Love the car, great daily driver, just wish mine was RWD with the 6 speed manual rather than the 5 speed auto, but overall an outstanding daily that will undoubtedly last for many more years to come.

@@chinchy111 I love the auto in stop and go traffic for obvious reasons, but I would love the manual for when I want to go do some sporty driving. You can put it into Sequential shift mode, but the paddle shifters are just fancy looking tactile switches, and the Semi-automated transmission was not meant for sporty driving so it often lags a lot when changing gears. Absolutely perfect daily driver I adore driving this car, my only gripe is I wish it was RWD, had a bit more hp and was a manual. Thinking about maybe getting an RSX down the line and making that into the weekend driver that the TSX wishes it could be xD.

Also, I'm assuming the cams were in the way but would it be at all possible to take the head of without taking the cams off and leave them together?

@@ahcgarage From what I know, the K24Z3 is very iffy about it's oil. You have to change it often and using the correct A5/B5 0W-30 otherwise the pistonrings can seize, cause blowby and this happens. Let me guesss.... ran it with low oil constantly... always check and top off 1k or so miles.... hella known for burning oil 🛢 crazyy how simple maintenance will make these engines go 200k +

Great point!

Most likely because the piston rings used were low friction to increase mpg, and keep the EPA happy, but they didn't seal well and caused oil burning. People forget about oil burning sometimes and the damage is done.

So this type of failure - not frequent enough oil changes lead to something like this?
@mwelke90
@mwelke90 2 года назад
I guess so, or it was running low on oil. Mine CU2 has now 215k KM (not that much really for a Honda) and it's driving flawlessly.
@ahcgarage

Yes, also most likely to be low oil level or failure of oil pump.

Look at how brown colored the head internals looked. Guarantee it ran low on oil or infrequent oil changes. My 375,000 mile B18C1 looks way cleaner than that inside.

These engines burn about 1qt every 1-2k once it’s at high mileage, I would know, my oil bill is high 🙃

Black oil doesnt mean its bad dont worry. But yes my tsx has 200k miles and does burn alot. Im curious how they let the oil get so low the oil level sensor will trigger and beep on the dash with a warning that says check oil level

@@ahcgarage - I have a 2009. At 80K, I found out it was burning oil. I went through 2 quartz between oil change. After reading about this, this motor has issues with the piston rings/blow by causing the burning of oil. Is this a defect of this engine?

By the varnishing on all of the inside surfaces, I would say that the oil wasn't being changed when it was supposed to be changed.
