#Baypril hits an unexpected 3-way crossover with two other gimmick review categories! Oh man SUPPORT THEW!: / toygrind MERCH: teespring.com/s... SOCIAL ME UP!: Toygrind / toygrind / toygrind #transformers
@@EmeralBookwise For the first film I didn't mind it too much (Bayverse prime is one of the few designs where I don't mind Optimus having a mouth), but as it drew on it just lost its lustre.
It's so intriguing how seemless the alt mode was integrated when you find out Meg's was supposed to be a dragon and the jet was completely unrelated design they flipped around and assigned to him
Fun fact: after doing research on megatrons blade, it's shape is less of a claymore and actually considered to be a type of weapon called the "Ikakalaka"
Yep! The weapon's less of a battlefield tool, and more of a ceremonial implement for executions and a symbol of prestige, as I understand it. Still, it looks cool, so characters with them are top tier.
lol, "knight of the long knives" made me take a bit of a sharp intake of breath before I was like "actually, no, it's megatron, he's space hitler, it fits"
Stalin? Lenin? I'd get a Communist-y comparison, but really? Hitler? In this day-and-age, everyone and their mother's been compared to the H-man... Kinda underwhelming if everyone is Funny Mustache Man.
Also, am I the only one who thinks that AOE High-Octane Bumblebee is the best Bayverse Bee & the other (Bayverse) Bee designs aren't that good in comparison??
Love to see Thew making a positive "Same" joke. Also, always a good day when we get to see him huck a breezeblock at some Poundstretcher garbage. I don't really fuck wth the movies but damn if I don't want a TLK Megs. Studio Series, get on this man right now.
I'm surprised that you didn't mention anything about how it's a realistic version of cyclonus from G1. And there was a later version that did come with the changing head from the leader class version. I have an earlier version that doesn't have the red chest. There are like five versions of Rendsora. There's also an upgrade kit for the hands from shockwave Labs so that he has articulated fingers but he still has a molded semicircle so that he can hold his sword. Excellent video as always. I love the coordinated fingernail paint
In KH3 Sora gets a rocket keyblade for the Toy Story world and it does indeed turn into a giant rocket drill claw inspired by The Claw from the prize grabber. The finisher launches on a lead, grabs enemies and slams them back and forth. That description is actually incredibly accurate.
Rest in peace, weijiang. You blessed many collections with awesome display pieces and let many a collector have a chance to experience molds that were long gone from the market. Without you, I wouldn't have ever had MP-10. Rest in peace.
I JUST made this comparison at home. I found both while cleaning and add to that a third one that was a KO of the Voyager that I was able to find for $10 before the official one was available. Only difference between them was that the crotch flaps are diecast on the KO.
I've got the Voyager and the knockoff version of the unique toys one but this one has always been in the back of my head as something I wanted to have a go on
Did you notice that he has a second molded in cockpit in the rear of the jet? There's actually concept artwork that shows his jet mode the other way around. And it makes him look a bit like a Cybertron mode Depth Charge.
Already laughing my ass off within the first few minutes with "Prince Harming". This entire episode was excellent, and it felt weirdly wholesome seeing a galaxy shifter have a rather intimate meeting with a chunk of concrete again.
While that really doesn't feel like Megatron to me, it's so cool. So on my shelf, he's Blackguard, and he is mates with Nemesis Prime and Rodimus Unicronus.
Loving Baypril, Thew! Will gladly accept whatever you're chucking our way, but man this schedule and format are producing some quality stuff. And that it's working so well for you just makes it even better!
Looks like Thew's necklace finally answers the question we were all asking since 2008, well maybe 2013. Wonder of he will go back and edit his old videos.
"Prince Harming" was one I had forgotten about, and hearing it again was like a second chance for a first time. His alt mode was actually designed the other way around to be more alien but it was flipped last minute because someone in management wanted it to be more obviously a jet and not some kind of metal manta ray. That's why the "intakes" look like thrusters - they are thrusters. The cockpit wasn't part of it originally either, it wasn't going to have one.
Sooo, I was checking out some early episodes of Chris McFeely’s must-watch series The Basics, and lo and behold, at the end of the video he lists his FEW patreon supporters! Top! of the list (alphabetically, but still): Thew Adams! Creators supporting creators!!!! See it all comes back around!
@@toygrind Totally read that in your voice, man. Right on! *My tiny daughters ALWAYS know when one of your vids is starting due to the BAM guitar sting - and they come rushing in to watch! You EXUDE joy.
So, trivia/fun fact, Ive been working on a series called Minutemen since 2012, and ever since the release of The Last Knight, I instantly fell in love with Megatron’s design. The main villain turned hero, Von Nebulus, ever since has had his basic frame based on this badass Bayformer. Im STILL working on it, and hope to make a pilot someday, and of all the things that have changed, I dont think his design and inspiration will ever change. God tier.
Forgiving the fact they basically gloss over how Galvatron was turned back to Megatron from the previous film in The Last Knight, it was nice that Megs FINALLY got his trademark Fusion Cannon on his arm after four movies. Honestly, I wish this Megatron design was what they used back in the first film.
Man you need to get beast wars cyber shark. He's a bundle of fun. Picked him up from B&M for 2.99 and he was an absolute blast to mess with, tons of gimmicks and articulation.
This thing is hands down a top 5 figure for me, maybe even top 3 honestly. Like honestly I have no idea how a Studio Series version could improve it other than just taking the same exact figure and adding waist and wrist swivels, it's that perfect.
11:49 There are people claiming he was, being the gun in Soundwave's hand. However they clearly don't get what a reference is. And we have gotten to see what his Bumblebee design WOULD have been now that the artwork is on some of the ROTB boxes and it's good.
My friend got me a Rendsora for my birthday back when it came out, and I gotta say. Yeah, I'm with Thew. I don't like how oversizes make people weird, or how illegal they are....but MAN he goes so hard! (or too hard, in the case of mine, since he annihilated his own knee ratchets, so they're friction joints now.) He just made me feel like a kid again with how I have to hold the jet mode in both hands and his big chunky feel, and those added wrist swivels do a lot to help sword poses.
The alt mode looks so much like Cyclonus. I would have liked to see a slightly redesigned head with horns and presto- Bayverse Cyclonus. Missed opportunity, I'd say.
Also, there was a later version of Rendzora that has a better paint scheme AND it has the transforming face plate. But Thew's first release still cool.
Great to see Thew review a Bayformer and its larger knockoff. I was adequately entertained when I watched The Last Knight in 2017, but I also remember wanting Rendsora during that year since he seemed affordable at the time. Of course, I had just paid full price for Marvel Legends 12-inch Thor, so I had to say no to Rendsora afterwards. Seeing this review is tempting me to want one even though Wei Jiang is no longer in operation.
I actually got the TLK Voyager Megs for a tenner at B&M a few years ago due to it being misplaced but the staff let me have it for half the RRP & he is a fantastic voyager, my only issue is the peg to attach the sword to his back & on the top of the jet is made of clear plastic & mine has shattered down to a point that it just has enough material to attach on.
Love that frank welker voiced him in the last knight! Movie was just bonkers, but the knight designs were some badass shit! Megatron looked so damn cool and had that sick crescent sword axe thing! Love the dark souls armored look and there's so many insane concept art designs that weren't used! Super sick, man! Good stuff, man! Love ya, thew! 😁😎👌🏻 you got a review of that badass purple flame nemesis prime? That thing looks so badass!
Swear to god, I thought I was the only one who loves that toy. It's the most balanced Bayverse Decepticon design, even if it doesn't exactly feel like a Transformer.
As much change Wei Jiang made to this Megatron, no Bayverse KO is as good as their AOE Hound. That Wei Jiang Hound is beautiful and the only Hound I find to fully remold the hell out of that deluxe.
"What if a cutlery drawer was spaghetti?" Nearly 20 years later and we're still making creative insults to the movie designs, I love it. lol 7:36 - What?? BOOOOO!!! I don't care who says what; their Megamaster is gorgeous, and he is MY Masterpiece Megatron.
Hasbro : we are going to make a toy of Megatron from transformers 5 KO : can I copy it Hasbro : no but if you mix it with something else then yes KO : how about the crucible blade from Doom internal Hasbro : ok
Did Megatron even transform in that movie? I only watched it the once, but I don't remember ever seeing it happen. Oh, and just to add to anyone's back-collecting easter egg hunts, there was a "Mission to Cybertron" version of the T30 IDW bomber Megs mold in grey and orange instead of black and purple with this head slapped on, and it's pretty awesome too.
It’s a shame Wei Jiang got raided. The niche they were selling was just something else. And they were slowly shifting into the scene of original designs. And that upscaled improved MPM Ironhide looked amazing.
The biggest shocker for me here is TLK actually put out a fairly decent toy. More or less gave up after Voyager Optimus, and expected about the same from Megatron, as another cybertronian jet mode really held no interest for me. That and I barely remember him being in the Last Knight. In hand I guess minus some articulation points actually looks to be the best Voyager Megatron the Bayverse has done. Will definitely be on the look out for the inevitable Studio Series release. Hoping too it'll get the LC treatment.
Wei Jiang’s Skysoarer is a 1 to 1 KO of PotP predating. They made engineering improvements and included the DNA Design wings, hands, and feet. I managed to buy that at retail prices days before the company got raided. Like, two months later the cost had doubled.
