Marge does it too - she says she's getting "ideas" from contortionists to Homer and that's what it sounds like. She's actually thinking about efficient cleaning by contorting her body.
@@Kid_Charlemagne76 also don't forget the time he took bart and milhouse to a concert and said some of the best times he had was in the back seat of a car. In the scene his car is shaking cause he's eating alot of food.
Yeah, and then the joke of Homer saying "No, that's it" topped it off. This scene is awesome, a touching bit combined with a very funny line, that combination is an example of what made classic Simpsons era so great
Homer did know something else about women: When a woman says nothing's wrong, that means everything's wrong. And when a woman says everything's wrong, that means everything's wrong.
Yeah, and funnier too. What made this scene, and many scenes of classic Simpsons era great was knowing how to mix heart and humor in just the right ways. This scene had both the touching part and then Homer's hilarious line "No, that's it"
Tbf, it's pretty universal when recieving compliments. We all love getting them. The difference is, when men get compliments, they hold onto them for years.

I like to imagine a counterpart to this exchange on the way home from the beauty parlor where Marge is telling Lisa that when men behave the way you want you have to reward them so they’ll do it again.
She’s used the “pretending to be going somewhere fun to get her victims in the car” ploy repeatedly, I think she’s as manipulative as the next well-intentioned mom which is a lot.
