Wait a minute, if Hans Moleman is the king of the Molemen, I wonder if the reason that he gets tortured is due to some sort of old conflict between Springfieldians and Molemen.
Its either because he supported a terrorist group and escaped to Springfield and they found out decades later he was a part of them which is why alot of people hate him
He's probably part of Nazi Germany or imperial Japan or worse he could've escaped from Iraq to Springfield, this can explain a lot why he is greatly hated

Essentially it's a last second effort to make the situation sound positive since Smithers, as his secretary, is known to be fully "can-do" for Burns' requests. Moleman also tries to be positive and says "I was saying 'boo-urns.'"
I mean those two things aren’t mutually exclusive. Maybe he slept with Lars grandmother a year ago. I don’t think the 31 years old thing is accepted cannon though.

4:52 - My favorite Simpsons moment ever was later in this episode when someone else wins the Film Festival by a near identical clip to Moleman's except I think it's John Madden or something and he screams at the top of his lungs when he gets hit.

Forgot to add the moment in a Treehouse of Horror episode where a witch turns all Springfieldians into their Halloween costumes and Hans, despite not wearing a costume, becomes a literal mole.
I love how in the drinking scene the camera was aimed above Hans expecting him to be in the shot, but when he stood up they had to pan it down. It’s such a simple joke, but it’s great.
