This generator appears to be similar to the WEN 8750. You should add this to your video since there are NO OTHER VIDEOS explaining the features and maintenance of the generator.

Thanks for making the video and tutorial video I have now made up my mind to buy this unit 1st time buyer - I used smaller inverters at work for power tools - but didn’t have the power rating I need - this unit will get me thru a power outage in the event of that happens Question for you What octane (gasoline) is recommended by manufacturer or that you use Thanks Larry

I did a test run on my Champion Power Equipment 100520 8750-Watt DH Series Open Frame Inverter today. Number 1 problem is RFI. If you have AM Radios, then forget this generator. The RFI is no where near as low as my 1990 Honda EX4500 which does not interfere with my AM radios. This Champion 100520 will not be replacing my EX4500. It will remain a good higher wattage back up.

Champion generators are excellent value for the money. Just as important, they have service and parts available unlike a lot of the Chinese clone, "no name' generators. I use both a Honda EU6500 along with an Generlink electronic switch for home backup, plus three other Champion 2000 watt gennies for a multitude of other uses. Honda is a great generator but FAR too expensive versus any of the competition. For my money, Champion is the way to go

@TOURMANBOB

I have been giving some though to converting my EU6500 to natural gas. One thing holding me back is the 5500 running watts would reduce to around 4000 to 4500. Secondly and most important, I don't know what size hose I need for natural gas. Everyone says 3/4 inch but whenever i see it anywhere, it's always a 1/2 inch hose feeding the gennie What size hose did you use for your generator. Your's is bigger than mine so if it works for yours it should work for mine. I have about a 15 foot run from the house to the generator.

You should turn off the camera mic LIMITER to that it does not compensate for the two audio levels. The limiter will try to make all sound coming to the mic equal.

If you can get the inverter, do it, but I also think the ‘need’ here is overblown. Virtually all of the whole home (non-mobile) generators sold are not inverted, and you rarely if ever hear about these units being problematic.

I was thinking that most furnaces and modern appliances probably utilize a switch mode power supply (which typically accepts anything from 100-250V 50/60 Hz so harmonics won't really hurt them as the aforementioned power supply unit is more or less an inverter itself as it takes the incoming 60Hz voltage, immediately converts it to DC then converts it back to high-frequency AC that's then sent through the small transformers then converted back to the required DC voltages of the devices. I know it sounds like a missed step but you would get the idea.
@NeilLB7

Some high efficiency gas furnaces (Trane for example) won't run on an inverter generator (or any generator) IF the ground and neutral are not dealt with properly in terms of bonding. Floating neutral generators do not have the ground and neutral connected at the source of disconnect (the generator) and this poses a problem for certain sensors in the furnaces....if I recall flame detection. The ground and neutral can be connected or disconnected on most generators AT the generator itself. Ground rods also come into play. Does the generator need one itself? Can it just tie into the house rod? If you direct connect the furnace to the gen and nothing else, that's one scenario. If you connect the house with a small transfer panel or back feed using an interlocked 30A circuit breaker (such as those sold by Square D for their QO panels) then that is another unique scenario. You have to study your system and understand the parameters the generator must work in. Test and confirm the plan you come up with and make sure things work right. Heat is the main thing. Most fridges and such don't have the complex sensor array that gas furnaces now have.

You state that "pure sine wave" refers to 60 hertz. Not so. 60 hertz is a measur ment of frequency, the number of times a wave form, both positive and negative sides of a full 360 degree cycle, is produced in a one second time span. Pure sine wave refers to the SHAPE of the wave form... versus square wave, saw tooth, modified step, etc. Not being nit picky, but if you give out info, please let it be correct info. Non pure sine wave generators also produce 60 hertz, here in USA.

I've read hundreds of reviews for non inverter backup generators and no one commented they lost an electrical appliance due to a generator without an inverter. How can that be if this is such a problem???????
@applisense
@applisense Год назад
It's not a problem. It's a risk. I don't have an answer for your reading sources, but I will say there is a lot of information out on the web. Appliance failure isn't black and white. They may not fail during conventional generator use and failure could be random/sporadic at any time so one might not diagnose the cause effectively and make the correlation. The affected user might be more inclined to leave a negative review for said appliance not realizing the cause.

I believe that it is over voltage that damages electronics, not having a stepped sine wave or off frequency. Appliances with circuit boards will not run or run correctly without a true sine wave or off frequency however.

Hopefully it will last Inverters have capacitors. Capacitors have life cycles. Most likely it’s CD 2-10 years besides that great generator.
@WJCTechyman
@WJCTechyman 5 месяцев назад
Well, every genset has a life span. Modern Open Frames have an Automatic Voltage Regulator, which contains capacitors, magneto ignition on engines have electronic components that age and wear, the engine, if something catastrophic happens to the alternator head (like burned up windings, carbon brush failures etc.) or the panel, fuel system etc.
