Chances are, you’ve bought a plastic container at some point in your life-and since it had those three little arrows on the bottom, you figured you could recycle it. But those symbols mean a lot more than you think. They tell you what kind of plastic a product is made from, and even how recyclable it is. The truth is, recycling doesn’t start at the blue bin. I already knew some plastics were used more than others, but I did not know plastic grocery bags were among the rarely recycled ones. All the more reason to use those reusable grocery bags I suppose. Good info.

Here in Australia they have plastic bag collection bins at the biggest supermarket chain to recycle plastic bags. And one common store also has battery recycling bins.

It is a shame that our government let business, make things that are not recyclable. It is time for our government to quit being dictated by big business and the one percenters. Government needs to be for the people.

You're right. The government needs to enforce good decisions in longterm that will do good rather than giving in the wishes of a child who does not know itself what it wants. The experts need to take control.

This video is 7 years old. So #1 plastic is basically single use plastic, and you are telling its ok to use. Meanwhile in India we are told single use plastic is bad. Please elaborate and support your answer(from the video).

What do you suggest we do with the recyclables that are less likely to be "recycled"? Continue to stick them in the blue bins, or is there someplace better to send them?

I agree less plastic is good no plastic is unrealistic in this system though. But YES LESS!!!! That would help in so many ways... For ex sea life and animals in general.

They recycle the plastics by burning them.... Which, if it wasn't for the volitile organic compounds the compustion process makes, would be one of the best uses for discarded plastic. DAMN YOU CHEMISTRY!
