While a bit long - this video goes over the Knox Action Pro Shirt - fabric, wash, wear, level 1 and level 2 padding, fit, and finish. I hope you enjoy. I have used and abused this garment in 24F - 98F degree weather in the dry Wyoming Desert, Muggy Missouri Woods, and the KY/TN trails. I will be releasing a review of their base layer - 5 days no wash; and their gloves - mud, rain, dust, and drops.

This was great! I’m watching from England btw. Thanks for this video. I was always wondering if it was possible to upgrade the armour like this. It was very helpful to see you actually putting it on and also showing how to add the armour. The best thing for me was the reviews are coming from an experienced rider. Much better than watching city boys trying to sell us stuff. I’ve not ridden for about 30 years and armour is new to me, but I’ve been thinking along the same lines for what I’d choose - comfort and useful features and upgradable armour. I’ll keep this short: I subscribed after watching this video. I’m glad I found someone who’s actually using the gear. Looking forward to watching and learning more. Thanks for letting me know. I am just like everyone out there - trying to squeeze as much fun and safety out of every dollar I spend. Sometimes I get lucky and get a great product, other times the stuff flops. I use to get mad that stuff wore out - now I realize I am just hard on my stuff. My friends call me two chains because I am constantly breaking crap and beating the tar out of my bikes and gear. I hope my reviews continue to give real life perspectives.

Great review. I have the Knox MK3 Jacket and it's so fantastic, an armored jacket, Level 2 all around, vented, and lightweight. I love it..............I took my Klim Marrakesh and upgraded to Level 2 all around I feel you need to do this, It's the only way to roll.

Thanks for the review, I have the urbane pro, but found it was too heavy and hot for dual sport riding so sold it, after watching your review I think I’ll get this one. Just one tip - the jacket actually comes with level 2 back armour, so no need to upgrade that. Good shout on the elbow and should upgrade though. Many thanks

Thanks for the watch and feedback. I had tried using a cotton t-shirt under it for a few months this spring and was concerned about the temps. When I upgraded to their base layer system (top & bottom) I actually felt it made it more comfortable in hot weather. If riding a lot of technical- under 10mph - it does get warm like any armored shirt I have used - but over 15mph and I didn’t have any real issues. I hope it works out well for you.

Really well done. Very helpful. Thanks! Just yesterday I purchased my first armored shirt, an Icon branded shirt at Gateway. The armor is D3O. It's very thin. Maybe too thin. I'm wondering if I made a mistake?

Don't stress - they are all good shirts. I started with the RevIt shirt and liked it - but the zipper failure led me to look elsewhere - and I am kind of a looks snob - so went with the Knox. The great part about these shirts is they are 1/3 the cost of a traditional ADV jacket and lets you create a more robust wardrobe over time. Enjoy the Icon shirt.

What's your opinion on the classic protectors like the Leatt 6.6 etc? I find mine comfy when riding but super annoying for stops and taking on and off. But with this Knox jacket, I'd be worried about impact protection, especially around the chest

Great question and definitely a dilemma. I use both - but differently. For basic ADV & Light DS riding I use the Action Pro Shirt with the upgraded armor and the Knox Chest Protector and feel comfortable with that as impact protection now that I added the chest insert. It is as pretty similar comparison to the Leatt ReaFlex Stealth shirt. ------Puncture prevention still makes me nervous though - so when riding in the woods where puncture is a concern, or soft dirt where I need to slide and not stick to the ground - then the hard shell Roost Protector is still my go to. In the summer wearing a roost protector and the shirt is just to hot and I will shift to elbow and shoulder pads, but in the winter months - the blend of the shirt with the armor keeps me toasty and safe. Unfortunately there is no good slide/puncutre/impact/breathable/ADV to Single track protection product. Mix, Match, and Ride.

Impressed with Knox. I never heard or considered them before. So can you insert the Knox CE2 armor in the Action Pro Shirt? Does it form fit? Thanks for review.

Yes. That is what I did. I upgraded the armor to the CE2 in my shirt. They have an abrasion resistant shirt as well if you want more road riding protection.

Have you looked into bohn armor shirts? I have the bohn armor pants and really like them. All level 2. Curious how they compare if you looked into them at all.

Great question. In April of 2021 I reached out to Pete in customer service with Bihn. At the time they didn’t have the level 2 (which came out the end of the following month). Great company as far as I can tell, and I have recommended them to those that want minimal bulk, maximum adaptability, and USA made. Originally I wanted the upgraded Knox with the slide protection (which Bohn didn’t have) which is why I asked my wife for Knox. Unfortunately I mis- communicated with her I ended up with the Action Pro - and decided to keep it for my dual sporting and upgrade later for the slide protection. Since then I just upgraded my exterior for the slide protection. I would LOVE to try the @BohnArmor product for sure. My only comment for Bohn would be styling - know has them beat on that end for sure. Do you own one - I would love your take. Thanks - Steve

What revit shirt did you use? I’m between this and the revit nucleus since it has chest and rib armor

I am pretty sure it was the Proteus. I think the proteus has more airflow - and the Knox Urban pro does as well. I will probably upgrade to the urban pro next time as it’s slide rated and more mesh at the same time. They are all great options.

Thank you very much for the review! This is first proper video I see of the Knox Action Shirt Pro. I was contemplating about the fitment of the it (to be used with other classic leather jacket). It also provides Protection so I'll get it for sure. It have the Urbane Pro for summer so this will be perfect for an undergarment for winter to allow me to use any jacket I want to wear on top. In terms of fit do you think it's close enough compared to a compression armored shirt so so I could keep wearing my close cut jackets? My build is 5'6 I'm a slim mascular guy Thank you in advance!

Sorry it took so long to reply. I don’t have a fitted leather jacket- but I can show you what it looks like under a suit jacket. @@314adv I have to say that the Action shirt looks much thinner and comfortable in comparison to my thick urbane pro (feels more like a jacket than a shirt) do you think that the Action shirt is a good use for summer as well? Urbane pro may ventilate but it's very heavy and still causes a lot of sweating

Hey, what armour did you put on action pro shirt? Because I tried putting armour level 2 from Urbane Pro MK3 and its too big.

Do they make a AA rated shirt that you don't have to wear anything Overton? Florida rider here and it's bloody hot here ALL THE TIME!!!!

The Urban Pro MK3. It has slide protection built in. www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/knox-urbane-pro-mk3-armored-shirt It never really made sense to me - but I find using their thin base layer helps does help keep me a little cooker despite the extra fabric.

Great and detailed review, I’m just a road rider and can’t decide whether to go the action shirt or urban pro. Which way would you recommend to go, basically go under my leather jacket?
