I'm frying chicken on my stove as I watch this and it's from my grandma's old Kentucky recipe!

If yours is from an old Kentucky recipe, it has no relation to the crud served at KFC.

I loved this show when I was a little kid and now I see why. Very, very funny. I also see where Mary Tyler Moorse show got the idea for Ted Baxter. Grrr. I hate it when they do that. Thank you for posting this great show, happy memories.

Jack Cassity was the first offered the Ted Baxter role but turned it down, not enjoying how the network handled "H&S", he did eventually guest star in an episode as Ted's brother.

@@roykassinger6903 thanks. But the plagetism is only reinforced by the story, and I'm finding he and she to be a bit funnier. Frankly than H&S. The show must have gotten screwed by the netork because z show this well-written should have gone on and on. In fact, it looks like MTM lifted the head-up spin in the air that Orentiss does. *I'm in the industry so I can get a little sedative about such things having been ripped off myself. Thanks for the info. Gives this great perspective.

No question, the best single season sitcom ever. And it won an Emmy! When do reruns of canceled TV programs get revived as summer filler and have higher ratings than the show it replaced? The only comedy at that time, other than The Lucy Show, to skip a laugh track and go with a studio audience. CBS made the biggest mistake in it's history by not moving this to another time slot and save it as they did with The Dick Van Dyke Show six years earlier. The well deserved flops they premiered the next fall couldn't compare with this. If "Good Morning World," another forgotten CBS comedy from 1967 - 68, could have a DVD release "He & She" should have one also.

Acording to Harlan Ellison in one of his L.A. FREE PRESS TV columns, CBS had the option of renewing "HE & SHE" for another season........or scheduling a new version of "BLONDIE", starring Will Hutchins & Patricia Harty. The updated version of "BLONDIE" lasted 13 episodes.

Fewer commercials than today's shows, and just three sponsors: The Coca-Cola Company (Coke at 0:45 and Tab at 27:10, touting a cyclamate-free formula and seemingly tying into this show), KFC at 13:37 with a 60-second spot filmed in San Francisco with various modes of conveyance, and Bristol-Myers at 24:28 with two products, Bufferin and Vitalis (featuring Pete Rose and Steve Garvey at Chavez Ravine).

On the original episode it had a MUCH MUCH longer intro...CBS told them to shorten it to sell more commercials which everybody is familiar with. Miss Hamilton Camp the mr fix-it. Was a creative consultant for many projects and was last seen in MASH as the person who outdid Jamie Farr in the crazy department. Also has Kenneth Mars which was part of Mel Brook's stock company (The Producers, Young Frankenstein.)....They are and this show is missed. Would be 20 years before people really realize that this was the predecessor to MTM, Cheers, and Frazier. Many thanks.
@manofmanyinterests

The opening here is shorter BECAUSE the recording began DURING the opening credits. If this recording began BEFORE the program began, you would see the complete opening. CBS had NOTHING to do with this in progress recording.

Taking a guess that H&S got revived following Benjamin's recent acclaim in films like "Goodbye Columbus" and "Catch-22"

No, the series wasn't revived. Perhaps because of Benjamin's film roles, CBS aired three-year old reruns of "He & She" in 1970.

Not to Coca-Cola. They established, over the years, that if you asked for Coca-Cola or "Coke" (its nickname), you would be assured of getting the same thing, as they registered BOTH names as trademarks. Today, you see the "Coke" name more prominent on bottles, cans and 6 and 12 packs.
