The only time he faced a great center in finals, Hakeem schooled him despite having Penny alongside him. Then Kobe took a much larger defensive role in this series guarding the league MVP Allen Iverson, so he was expending alot of energy on the defensive end. Imagine chasing Iverson on defense and still scoring the buckets down the stretch for your team.
