The media created debate of who is the GOAT between LeBron and Jordan has been going on for years. And for years, the vast majority of actual NBA players have continued to routinely pick Kobe over LeBron.
It's funny how the guys who've played the game at that level have consistently said Kobe was better than Lebron but the media does everything to dismiss that.
@@SneakerShopTalk Kobe’s statistics in hindsight are not overly impressive looking now. For a number of reasons. Firstly he wasn’t a starter his first 2 full seasons. His first 3 seasons, he only averaged 13 points per game on 10 shots per game. His last 3 years were severely compromised because of injury. Look at the 14 year in between tho he was as prolific a scorer as anyone ever. Unfortunately those 14 years were also the lowest scoring, slowest paced years in nba history. So that further depreciated his statistics. One thing that should be translatable to any era is his championships. But they even try to diminish those because “he had Shaq”. But curry had Durant, Kareem and Magic and vice versa, bird had Michale and Parish, Lebron had Kyrie, then AD and Wade and Bosh before it. There’s just such lack of consistency with how Kobe is treated.
@SneakerShopTalk media members are either paid actors or writers that never touched a basketball in their life let alone the fundamentals of the game itself. If they can disrespect Kobe n say he had Shaq n he ain't top 10 than we as fans the right to say lebron ain't top 10 cuz he cheated the game has been juicing up since the start of his career has been involved in over 80 trades since 2010 has been stacking his team has been giving the keys to the league to do as he feels
@@SilentMovements305 I have to believe you’re right and these guys are just running prewritten narratives out there. How else can you explain like 70% of all players who went against both saying Kobe is the superior player. And only like 5% of the media have Kobe even top 5? Something is not adding up here.
@skap_attack Jordan won against bums or old players. Lebron beat possibly the all time great teams and is still going. If Lebron gets 6 all arguments will be over. MJ couldn't even make it 20 years. Kobe played 20 but didn't match Lebron stat wise.
@@MARZOSIRUS LeBron has played less 50+ win opponents than Jordan and substantially less than Kobe. Lebron has faced a 50+ win opponent 53% of his playoff career. Jordan played 50+ win teams 73% of the time, and Kobe played a 50 plus win team a staggering 86% of the time. Also, lebron played 400 more games than Jordan and counting. He played 100 more games than Kobe. Also, LeBron has played with more all stars per year to make it to his finals than Kobe and many more than Jordan. All of that to win less than either. It's not close, at all.
I remember watching an interview with Kobe. He blatantly told the world that he wasn't as much as gifted as the other players "physically" he said that his vertical was only 42, that his hands were big but not massive, he was quick but not insanely quick. He admitted himself had to rely on skill a lot more ,that he had to study the game a lot more. So to be able to accomplish all the accolades that he have is just mind-boggling. He may not be the best player ever but he will go down in history as the most skilled player to ever do it
@@noahhannon2305no. He was more physically gifted than Kobe. He wasnt more skilled. Kobe was a less athletic but more skilled version of mj. Smoother handles, better footwork, bigger bag. The major difference and why mj is better is he was more physically gifted. He was stronger, big frame, big hands and more athletic. Kobe was smooth, slippery, counter moves, unpredictable. Mj was less so but far more physically dominant
@@skap_attack MJ and Kobe man…them dudes were unreal. Tough, tough competitors and played the game the right way. They didn’t cheat the game. When the times were rough, they didn’t run to other teams. They wanted to beat the toughest competitors, not join them. They could do unbelievable things with the rock and you never had to question who was in charge when the game was on the line. We saw them with our own eyes. And this new generation wants us to forget what we saw and accept their pick as goat, simply because they weren’t alive to witness players that were better. What a awful time to witness, when lies trump truth daily. We live in a time when someone can tell you that the sky is red and if you don’t agree than you are attacked and ridiculed. Now they want us to believe that LeBron is better than MJ and Kobe. And if we don’t agree than we are “haters”. No, we are realists. I don’t hate LeBron or anyone for that matter. I just know he’s not better than them dudes and he never will be. But he’s still a great great player.
@@chicity78 perfectly said 👏. Couldn’t have said it any better. Lebron is a top 10 player undeniably in my opinion. I will admit he’s somewhere in the 4-9 range. Personally I have him outside of my top 5, but I understand the argument and respect the case for having him in that range. Just don’t call me a hater because I’ve been watching basketball for nearly 30 years now and have more perspective than someone who was born in the year 2000. It’s a crazy time to be alive.
Kobe doesnt even reach 4 of his finals without shaq. Put lebron on the lakers 3 peat team and they win at least 5 rings. Lebron has only left teams that were lottery teams without him, and he never had a teammate even close to as good as shaq. Lebron has been to 3 different teams which I wouldn't call running all over the place, and he's been successful on every team he has been on
@@chadgsjbssbanaSo you're one of those that think Lebron did it himself. When he went to teams he joined D Wade and Kyrie and brought in the best stretch 4/5 in the game and added the best shooters in the world. Shaq dominated but you forget Kobe closed all those games because of Shaes poor FT shooting ability. Kobe did the same thing with Pau. Bron is amazing. He's a created player. But the NBA game is about footwork and fundies. And then you add competitive edge, MJ and Kobe edge everyone out. They are all great but if your child's life was on the line and you had one g to play, your picking MJ then the Mamba all day long or you don't love your kid 🤣🤣🤣
@@PastorAaronEdwardsHall in 2018 and 2007 he very much did it all by himself, but my point is that the teams that Lebron were in the finals with don’t make it to the finals without Lebron, but prime shaq was easily making it to the finals with or without kobe

Just from the eyetest it's Kobe hands down...do ppl not notice Lebron has no bag?? Just the same right hand dunk over and over, terrible footwork (often travels), not an aesthetically pleasing jumpshot like Kobe, commits offensive fouls when he tries to get to get shots off AT THE RIM instead of the difficulty of shots Kobe made over multiple defenders, plus Kobe competed in and WON the slam dunk contest Lebron has always been too scared to even compete I'm done with this
All of those are very good points lol. I personally just think of the fact Kobe went out of his way to lessen the supporting case he had while Lebron has gone out of his way to enhance his. Kobe has played tougher competition and won more. Never understood the case for Lebron in the top 2 spots. Wilt chamberlain was as decorated individually than Lebron. In all honesty, much more so. But he’s never been in the goat conversation. Because he was a loser in the finals. So too is Lebron
Amen! Don't forget the defense Kobe played and the fact that in the Olympics and World championships Lebron is the biggest loser in the history of USA basketball. Without Kobe he would have never won the Olympics.
I say this all the time. Lebrons game is bland as fuck. His shot is ugly and robotic looking. He's like a mini dwight howard when he shoots. Kobe is way more skilled and knowledgeable as a player.
I'm so tired of everyone saying LeBron is #2 all time. It's just constant propaganda, constant comparisons, constant promotion from the media. 90% of it based on stats.
It’s about stats plus fulfilling the medias own hype of Lebron at the very beginning of his career. The media love to be “right”. They starting hyping this dude up when he was a junior in HS. Every moment in the NBA for him has been all about them helping him to fulfill that bs legacy.
@@skap_attack The NBA and sports media has gutted what it means to be a champion in order to boost up LeBron. It used to be a sign of virtue to grow from loss and learn how to win. Now it's cool to quit, go somewhere else and stack your team to guarantee a win. It used to be a sign of virtue to take responsibility and work hard to get better. Now it's cool to throw your teammates under the bus. It used to be a sign of virtue to be the rock onto which the team builds a champion. Now it's cool to whine then leave when things aren't perfect. It used to be a sign of virtue to play hard every game of the regular season as a sign of respect to the organization and the fans and to build chemistry with the team. Now it's cool to make bullsh*t excuses not to play. Players used to hate losing, now it's become cool to "get there". Players used to play for the love of the game. Now they play for stats and "legacy". I hate the NBA now because it abandoned the qualities of a real man, a real leader and a real champion to mimic the feminine qualities of mama's boy LeBron James. The NBA has abandoned it's responsibility to teach young men virtue and instead virtue-signals and teaches them the process doesn't matter. Just win and create the narrative you want. Both the NBA and the mainstream sports media has SUFFERED in the hands of LeBron James. As a result, the league has attracted an attention-seeking, superficial, stats-obsessed, legacy-obsessed, blame-shifting, player-idolizing, team-disregarding fan base that shares the same qualities as LeBron James. And we're all the worst for it.
@@TayGee-mh8eo very well said and I agree with you. Every era of this sports history-for better or worse-was held to the same standard. “Ring culture”. Of course it’s all about the ring and winning. What else would it be about? Until we reached this era where the media has had to hoist up and coddle a loser. That’s when rings became a “team achievement”. Bull shit. It was always a commentary of INDIVIDUAL excellence until this era.
@@skap_attack And they diminished winning by acting as if ring culture is only about rings. It was NEVER only about rings. It was about the process. It was about fighting, getting better and finally overcoming. It was never just about ring counting but generally speaking we're going to have more admiration for a guy that climbed a mountain 6 times over a guy that did it only twice. Of course, context means everything so just winning 6 rings does not automatically make you better than a guy that won less if the guy that won less had more to overcome. But that's the point. Let's get into the context and weigh the evidence on both sides. But for LeBron, the context is thrown out and we are forced to discuss the most superficial discussions outside 4th grade. It's why we are still discussing whether LeBron is the GOAT 20 years into his career. If he was the GOAT, it wouldn't take 20 years for us dumb-dumbs to figure it out! But since they have boiled everything down to ring counts and stats, LeBron is still in the running. They have dumbed down the conversation. Also this -- because this is the most important thing for me: For generations, sports was a metaphor for life. Work hard, overcome your foes and challenges and learn how to win. Now those things have been thrown out the window. Now all we talk about is legacy. Not maturation. Not overcoming. Not perseverance. Every damn night it's a discussion on legacy based on (in most cases, manufactured) stats. Most of these guys don't actually like playing and it shows. Most of these guys aren't true competitors and it shows. They don't learn their craft. They have the same weaknesses and tendencies they had five years ago. They're on they're 3rd or 4th team. The NBA is full of young boys trying to impress the social media instead of men working hard to overcome whatever challenges are placed before them.
@@TayGee-mh8eo damn. Again, couldn’t possibly agree anymore. Sports is a metaphor. To me it was always about “the heroes” journey. Where, as you said, our protagonists have to overcome challenges and obstacles-both internal and external forces. And this is the important part for me, the harder the challenges, the more extreme the challenges obstacles, the greater the individual becomes. The hero is only as good as the villain allows. That’s why I’ve never liked Lebron. He sidesteps obstacles. He goes out of his way to make it as easy as possible. And it’s not just Lebron, as you said, it’s mainly this entire generation. There are only few examples of players that want to take on the hardships and challenges. And unfortunately many of them aren’t great enough to overcome. Think a video is needed on this lol.

I think the media just compare LeBron to MJ because they want clicks and views. Thank you for making this video :) I had the same observation over the years that NBA legends always picked Kobe over LeBron
Lebron is not better Magic and Bird. These medias are something else. Magic won his first championship as a rookie carry a Lakers team. Magic was always a winner. Bird like Magic is also a winner and the worst trash talker. Lebron could never guard against Bird. Bird would make Lebron cry in the first five mins in the game.

To me, there’s absolutely zero debate to be had here. The difference in the eye test between Kobe and leflop is so stark that it’s simply impossible to ignore. People love to look at stats in these matters, but that’s just abusing numbers without context in order to represent your opinion as being objectively based in fact. The reason that’s flawed is because you can’t compare two different seasons, let alone different eras of the game. Different players have different luck, different rules, different opposition, different sports science, etc. and it’s shortsighted for someone to think they could account for all of those countless differences and use numbers to provide a truly apples-to-apples comparison. That’s why I believe that at the end of the day, this really just comes down to the eye test, as well as received opinions. Instead of forming their own view based on watching a player, people seem like they’re becoming more and more satisfied to just receive their opinion from whoever repeats it the most. If every viewer of basketball had to watch one random full Jordan game and one random full Lebron game a day for a year, virtually all of them would come out of that year with the view that Jordan is easily better.
Lebron doesn't make his teammates better. He just gets 2 other top players in the league at the time. To play with him. He runs to them from team to team.

You could say lebron doesn't win the rings without wade( which he has) or kyrie (who wasn't even all NBA from 2015-17) or even AD, but none of those teams even come close to a finals without lebron. Today, people seems to be so hypersensitive about sports today. I can tell people that MJ is the GOAT to me, while not ripping apart or tearing down another player's accomplishments. The only regret I have about Kobe when he played, is that I didn't appreciate him more for what he did for the game. I loved his talent and how tenacious he was on the court. I appreciate this video, because the players spoke for themselves on who they believe was greater. They brought a component to this conversation: experience! Something you can't quantify with analytics.
The mindset Kobe had was second to none. He and Jordan are the greatest competitors I’ve ever seen in the sport. And Kobe’s “bag” as the kids say today, in my opinion, exceeded Jordan’s. MJ was more physically gifted, and certainly more accomplished. He was definitely the GOAT, and likely always will be. But Kobe got as close as anyone ever will.

Also things like total points like you mentioned are irrelevant because they are about longevity, when the question of who is best is about peaks.
It's interesting 'cause I feel like Bird also gets overlooked a lot in these debates. I haven't seen him play, I wasn't alive during that basketball era. But what do you think lacks with Larry Bird and why he gets overlooked? 'Cause I feel like mentally, he's the same as Kobe and Jordan, he just has that killer mentality.
I’m a bit older than you, but you’re exactly right. MJ, Kobe, and Bird were cut from the same cloth. Absolute killers and apex predators. Lebron just doesn’t have that 5th gear in the final minutes of the big games

Jamal Crawford said it best “your peers are the ultimate respect and the ultimate bar for how they feel about you. He went 5-2 in the finals”. I’ll take nba players word over lebums planted media personnel
MJ and Kobe never said they were the GOAT it was given, LBJ brand himself as the GOAT that's delusional.what LBJ did was a great and awesome accomplishment but we all know and don't lie to yourself LBJ is not top 5
I love that! Been doing it for going on 20 years now 😂. And just like you, I always will 🙏. I been hitting a lot of Lebron content lately. I have a few Kobe pieces I’m planning to do tho. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it 🙏
@@skap_attack Hey, I'm subbed now so I will be watching. That Last Choke video was an absolute masterpiece. And all facts. I'm going to recommend it to the Lebron stans tomorrow in the video chat I go to. 😂
The reason Kobe gets left out of the conversation was the incident in Colorado tarnished his image with the media. They never praised him the same after that because it would be brought up and attached to the NBAs brand. His gameplay made him undeniable until his retirement. Him being not here anymore shouldnt take him out of the conversation either.
Of course, at least 3 MVP went to MJ and Shaq. NBA disrespected him before and after 2003, one because they did not want MJ23 to retire and after the colorado incident broke his image. But Kobe demonstrated against MJ and Lebron he can beat them in various ocasions, just watching 1998 All star game performance level God and MVP for MJ is disrepectful. MJ and Shaq knows well about all this awards deviations. 2003 last MJ All star game and season he could not against Bryant on fire till the last match 29/03/2003 Airness completely destroned but MVP for Kevin Garnett?. And in 2006 best KB year told by everybody snd MVP for Steve Nash? Completely a joke. NBA hostory should be reviewed or MVP post mortems should be created in order to respect this tremendous player
No he gets left out because he was a career 44% FG player! Only 1 mvp , only 2 fmvp , and robe the pine as a rookie! Kobe is so overrated! Great kicks tho
I got Mj and kobe on the same level. Where they separate is 6-0 and 5-2. Honestly both in their prime against one another would have been a spectacle. Salute to both brothers. RIP to my favorite player of all time Kobe “bean” Bryant. #MambaMentality
your saying lebron doesn't have a passion for the game? hes been a top 10 and 15 player every year hes played at least. Some years was the best player in the league as well. bron avoided all the distractions in his career and focused on the game, thats how hes been able to play so well when hes so old. he has the best longevity ever in the nba. kobe had more passion but u cant say lebron had no passion
@@briansanchez9663 If you watched Kobe’s game and didn’t see the difference in passion in say his game and James Harden’s for example, then I doubt you even watch or like basketball. Passion and intensity matters man, that’s why the Greats elevate their game in crucial moments, they are extremely passionate about their craft.
Thank u for this! It’s ALWAYS been Kobe over bron. Let’s be clear. More accomplished while playing More mature. More skilled. Wanted to keep improving as opposed to winning by diluting the conference… Kobe was different! Even w the similarities to Jordan…Kobe was 1of1! You will always be a legend to the real ones! We miss you! Mamba eternal!
Frankly Kobe was a better scorer and defender than LeBron, as well as having more titles. Meanwhile Kobe managed to stay in LA his entire career, playing with whoever was on the roster. Not forming "Super-Teams" with Kyrie, Davis, Wade, Bosh and Love to take short-cuts to the finals. LeBron's career high is 65, we've seen Kobe drop that in 3 qrts. There's levels to this bruh.. RIP Kobe
The actual sad part is that it has gotten to the point where people have to say “no disrespect to bron” before they say that they believe someone is ahead of him.
The Lakers were already a playoff team that signed Shaq that same year. Kobe fanboys pretend that he built the Lakers. They weren't bad until after Shaq left
Mamba fan here, and I know this by heart. Their Head to head matchup during their prime years, Bron dominated Bean with 13 wins, 6 wins to kobe. And stat wise too.. Sad to say this as a Kobe fan, but LeBron was just the better player overall because numbers don’t lie, At the end of the day nba greats and fans will either choose any of these 2. 🐍 👑
Like Allen Iverson said, Kobe's my guy. Kobe was the real deal. When Lebron could succeed at the Olympic games, Kobe had to come set the record straight with a Gold. Kobe made Lebronze a LeGold.
Kobe just transcendent the game. I feel so lucky being in Southern California being able to watch all of his games... It's unfortunate that we took it for granted the buzzer beaters when you thought the game was over it time and time and time again... I've never seen so many people in the NBA and in football name their child Kobe. I've never seen the WNBA still praising Kobe. His motivational speeches were another level and this just goes to show you when you practice hard and work hard. People know the real players know the media or LeBron's jock sniffers. I wouldn't be surprised if they were on his payroll...
Kobe’s career avg is 44% FG vs LBJ avg 50% , Kobe Rode the pine as a rookie vs LBJ’s ROY, Kobe 2x FMVP vs Lbj 4x FMVP, Kobe 1 mvp vs lbj 4 MVP’s, Kobe’s career pts 33k vs lbj pts 39k both played 20yrs ! This isn’t even close LBJ is way better than Kobe! Kobe 25,5,4 vs Lbj 27,7,7 no debate!
@@terrencealexander6811 there's a lot of LeBron. James jock sniffers out there. Most of them are advertising fake news, but it's okay free speeches free speech 🤣😂
When did lebron pass Duncan, Shaq, and Kobe all of which played in the same era ? Kobe vs Duncan in the playoffs 4-2 Lebron vs Duncan in the playoffs 1-2 (and Duncan wasn't even the finals MVP in any other those finals) lol
Its kinda easy to really decide stuff like this if you just ask yourself who would you rather play against Kobe or Bron? I bet 90% say Lebron And you can also ask who would you rather play with to get the win Kobe or Bron? Its gotta be Kobe all day...consistency and confidence matters.
Kobe has more Championships than Lebron, More Points the MJ, Most Points in the Modern era with 81. He did a Three Peat and Back to Back. Had minimum 40 straight points for 9 games when without Shaq. Dropped 55 on Mj when he said he'll never fill his shoes. His greatest final which is 2010 shows why he's the greatest cuz he beat the Celtics with a broken finger. His mentality and will to win no matter what proves why apart from Jordan, Kobe is the guy you want to win you a game. Kobe is a Killer and A G.O.A.T💛🐐💜. Mamba Forever🐍🖤
I agree with every single word of that. And can make the case he’s top 2 all time. Actually, I already did… Remembering The Legend of Kobe Bryant: A Definitive GOAT Case ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JSU1VZC3Qo4.html
Much respect to you Skap Attack for this one...funny because both LBJ & Kobe grew up idolizing MJ...one has the utmost respect & recognizes him as the superior player...the other knows this as well but leverages the media to elevate him more than he should be & feed his narcists ways 👈💯#gmrecognizegm
Both Michael and Kobe played in the era of big men, where 250 pound monsters were allowed to mutilate you. Both of them had to pull out real magic to score at their level. LeBron played / plays in a different era, where superstars get extra help from refs, media members iron all your flaws out and regular role players rather don't play any defense so that they don't foul out in the first quarter. However great LeBron is, his career is inflated. If he played in the era, when superstars couldn't simply blackmail their GMs, fire coaches, fire their bench and change teams whenever juicier budget appears somewhere - chances are, he would end up like Charles Barkley. Appreciated, remembered, but with zero titles.
Lebron averaged 30 in 2005, wtf r u talking abt? Or did the soft era start right as lebron entered the league? Because if that’s the case then Kobe’s only fmvps are illegitimate.
@@stayrich3027 No they wouldn't, that's idiocy. Kobe literally played until 2016 and was in his prime in the late 2000s/early 2010s, so that's a dumbass thing to say in general.
Kobe’s career avg is 44% FG vs LBJ avg 50% , Kobe Rode the pine as a rookie vs LBJ’s ROY, Kobe 2x FMVP vs Lbj 4x FMVP, Kobe 1 mvp vs lbj 4 MVP’s, Kobe’s career pts 33k vs lbj pts 39k both played 20yrs ! This isn’t even close LBJ is way better than Kobe! Kobe 25,5,4 vs Lbj 27,7,7 no debate!
@@Tyler-kr8vp Kobe's prime year was 03 kid! He said that himself. All his skills polished by that time on top of crazy athletic ability before his knee injury the next year.
I’ve been tryna find out when bron jumped Kobe all time since like 2016. Bron went from like barely or borderline out of top 10 to goat overnite it’s crazy
I mean he didn’t really deserve the rookie of the year award. He then won 2 league MVPs in the trash ass East when he was in his early 20s while Kobe was in the stacked west winning the one seed and ultimately championships. The media just have loved Lebron from the word go. They’ve been promoting that narrative for 20 years now.
@@skap_attack and Kobe beat every team that beat brons. Dominates the spurs that swept him in ‘08, magic in ‘09 and celts in ‘10. He was better than bron until 2012 imo. And your spot on, that was Melos roty and the East was ridiculously week during brons finals run. I mean are the Indiana pacers, Atlanta hawks, and raptors supposed to compare to Kobe’s western conference runs? Once again your channel is a hidden gem, love how you debunk these media myths and give underrated players their flowers
@@boxtalk2254 completely agree with you. Kobe was the best player in the NBA till 2012 in my opinion. Fan boys and the media like to act as if Lebron was the best player in the nba from 2007-now 😂. He’s not even the best player on his team currently. And thanks for joining the channel! 🙏
Clearly none of you have brain cells so I won't even keep going but do u honestly think that kobe bryant is better than lebron?? Before u think w ur heart j cuz kobe died j think to urself really?? Is kobe really better😂😂😂😂 bron carried 14 other bums to the finals while kobe was shooting bricks the last 5 yrs of his career in yr 20 lebron is average 30ppg in yr 20 wat was kobe doing😂😂
